Barking Carnival Casting Call

Posted by Trips Right on February 2nd, 2010 under Basketball

Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to cast Barking Carnival's finest and most infamous with an actor or actress of your choice starring in Barking Carnival's own HBO special. This is the shit I blog about when watching Bo Ryan coach basketball. Gotta spice it up somehow. So, I'll start. Vasherized--Robert Redford. Butch

Why Texas Isn’t Playing Wisconsin Next Year

Posted by srr50 on January 20th, 2009 under Football

ESPN's attempt to broker a game between the Longhorns and the Badgers may not have fallen apart because they couldn't agree to a Horn return visit to Madison. It may have fallen apart because Texas is playing at Wyoming next year. Wisconsin says the game didn't get off the ground because neither side was ready to give up a home game. While both teams non-conference schedules for 2009 border on the laughable, neither was willing

Thoughts on the Wisconsin win

Posted by Trips Right on December 23rd, 2008 under Basketball

#8 TEXAS LONGHORNS (10-2) 74, WISCONSIN BADGERS (9-3) 69 No grades today. You know me, they'd all get A's. What a big win in a hostile environment. Bo Ryan is a hell of a basketball coach and he's like 135-7 at home in the Kohl Center. And why not, the Badgers play a stifling sagging man to man that preys on selfish basketball and poor shot selection.

Basketball Preview: #5 Texas Longhorns (9-2) vs. Wisconsin Badgers (9-2)

With the exception of personnel, I could probably cut and paste the Michigan State Preview and not be a whole hell of a lot off in terms of what to expect from Wisconsin. We're playing the Badgers. They're coached by Bo Ryan. They're going to guard the hell out of you, try to control tempo on offense by running possessions deep into the shot clock, and they're going to play smart,

Big 10 BCS Road Record

Posted by srr50 on December 17th, 2008 under Football

Yesterday began a look at the BCS conferences and their non-conference road schedules during the BCS Era. The theory being that road records are a legitimate indication of the strength of a team and a conference since you face more hardships and usually tougher opponents when away from home. Today the Big 10 Big 10 Non-Conference Road Results Total                                            vs BCS 61-58    51%                                32-47    40.5% vs. ACC 6-2   75% vs Big East 9-3   75% vs Big 12 5-10   33% vs Pac 10 6-18   25% vs SEC 0-4    0% vs

RoundTable RoundUp

Posted by Scipio Tex on October 6th, 2008 under Football

MGoBlog's Brian Cook has masterminded a scheme so clever that its best expression could only occur in the Oxbridge accent of a Bond villain. However, instead of threatening you with piranha nipple clamps and a plot to take over world financial markets (too late), MGoBlog brings together whoever is available the elites of the blogosphere and intermingles their rankings like polygamist's children in the weekly Top 25 beauty contest known as

36-Hour CramSession: College Football Week 3

Posted by BRAGGonUT on September 14th, 2008 under Football

The beauty of the unexpected bye week is that it gave us all an opportunity to see a lot more football on TV than most game weeks. I learned the following: Josh Nesbitt of Georgia Tech may be the best sophomore QB you haven’t heard about. That’s probably because he plays for Georgia Tech. Think Reggie Ball without the bonehead turnover mentality running Paul Johnson’s version of the triple option. Georgia Tech is

Both the AP and the Coaches' polls have the same Top 10. 1. USC 2. Georgia 3. Oklahoma 4. Florida 5. Ohio State 6. Missouri 7. LSU 8. Texas 9. Auburn 10. Wisconsin And Kirk Bohls of the Statesman is an asshole for having ranked East Carolina #2.

Texas/Wisconsin Preview

Posted by Trips Right on December 28th, 2007 under Basketball

Texas is coming off its first loss of the season giving solid effort in a somewhat disappointing outcome vs. Michigan State. Let's face it folks, this was the worst possible matchup for Texas from a pure X's and O's standpoint as well as a timing standpoint. Until Texas has some semblance of a lowpost threat, they're going to struggle offensively against teams that play sound half court defense and dictate tempo with either
