Bush Paves the Way for Henderson?

Posted by Patrick Bateman on March 15th, 2010 under Football

Are we really surprised?  Today, reports are swirling that Seantrel Henderson, a five star recruit, the #2 overall recruit by Rivals, and future knight of the roundtable, will finally make it official in the coming weeks and actually sign his LOI with everyone's favorite left coast juggernaut, USC.  Why is this relevant?  He was expected to sign there.  Well, for two reasons: 1.  This may be an indication of the paddy cake that the

Big 12 Legacy

Football: Vasherized was there to record the developments from the open practice, Geoff Ketchum is opposing the new development on the grounds that it gives up too much of what worked the last 2 years. I'm feeling better from hearing both opinions. Sure the 3-step passing game of Colt's prime was good to Texas, but it was also dependent on super-accurate Colt throwing darts underneath to the Quan and Ship both of whom he had been

Barnes is slower than Colt McCoy

Basketball: Trips did another excellent post-mortem after yet another tough road loss. This is a game Texas has been unable to solve for some time, as I wrote before. Kansas won in Reed Arena by 5 thanks to dominant play by Aldrich late in the game. Texas couldn't get dominant, reliable offense from anyone...except Jordan Hamilton. Last we checked Hamilton was capably serving in a Ginobili-esque, come off the bench and be the creator for

NFL: Pro Bowl Open Thread and Big 12 Draftables

Posted by Sailor Ripley on January 31st, 2010 under Football

I realize the Pro Bowl is a bit silly but it has Vince Young there, so maybe some of you will watch it. He was interviewed a few days ago and can be seen here. Also, a nice story about him taking McNair's kids to the Pro Bowl. Also, dedfischer (@TortillaRetort) takes a look at the best the Big 12 has to offer the NFL Draft. Good reading here.

Vince Young: 2 Time NFL Pro Bowl Selection

Posted by dick on January 20th, 2010 under Football

Sort of.  Rivers backed out and they put VY in.  Brady pulled out and they put Shaub in.  I think Jamarcus Russel has a chance if we wait long enough.  Is this news to everyone? That's probably because it's buried on ESPN under the NFL section in the 6th headline down at the very bottom of the article about Tom Brady.  http://http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=4841305 Ok, that link died so here is another one.  This guy makes a good point but

Longhorns In The League, and Other NFL Notes

Posted by EyesOfTX on January 3rd, 2010 under Football

Holy cow, the hits just keep on coming for former Texas Longhorns in the NFL... Jamaal Charles, who barely saw the field in the first half of this season, shattered the Kansas City Chiefs' single-game rushing record today, running up 259 yards on the day, putting him over 1,100 yards for the season. Chiefs' LB Derrick Johnson ran back two interceptions for touchdowns in the team's upset of the Broncos, and flashed the Hook 'em sign after

No surprise here as the best game of the decade was also was also the most-watched game of the the BCS era. The Longhorns 41-38 win over USC for the National Championship drew an audience of over 35 million. The Longhorns dramatic National Championship win drew 5.5 million more viewers than the next college telecast -- the 2003 Miami-Ohio State BCS Championship game. As expected, the BCS title games dominate the ratings, but

Longhorns in the League, and Other NFL Notes

We'll keep updating this as we become aware of additional ex-Longhorn performances... Jamaal Charles and Cedric Benson had a nice duel in the Chiefs/Bengals contest today.  Jamaal got himself to within striking distance of a 1,000 yard season with 102 yards on 24 carries, while Benson ran up 133 yards on 29 attempts.  Cedric is now up to 1,251 yards on the season - Jamaal can join him in the 1,000 club with 139 next week. A Quick Look At Vince’s Progress

Posted by TaylorTRoom on December 21st, 2009 under Football

Remember the 2006 NFL Draft of QBs? Tennessee took Young with the 3rd pick, Arizona took Leinart around 10th, and Denver took Cutler 11th. After the first year, the general consensus was that Tennessee, gambling on an unpolished passer like Young might have caught lightning in a bottle, Leinart just needed time, and that canny old sage, Mike Shanahan, found the real jewel in the

Overheard on the Longhorn internets

Typically this column (?) is reserved for stupid shit Texas fans say about Texas football. But sometimes I make exceptions. Sometimes a post will come along that will make me want to seek out the original poster, cradle him in my arms like a newborn baby and then protect from the evil in the world. For example. People that are talking about VY are being sarcastic, right? Matt Schaub is 5th in the NFL in passing. He
