Around the Rivals

Football: Boomer And Sooner dig into spring football with NateHeupel pausing to chastize Longhorn fans for our disappointment in an 8th seeded basketball team and our hopes for Garrett Gilbert. OU fan knows well that 2nd year quarterbacks never amount to too much... He rates their DE group as the "most proven in the conference" which is another way of phrasing how I would put it, "inevitably the 2nd best behind the Sacho and co." Their

Disdain

Because of my formative youth watching the Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University Agriculturals beating the piss out of my beloved Longhorns, I cherish the current football climate in College Station. I especially enjoy a backhanded bitch slap by Colt McCoy to the Aggie's fail soaked medulla oblongatas. In an article about Garret Gilbert by Ivan Maisel, Colt dealt the Aggies quite a blow. "He came in as a true freshman and backed me up," McCoy

Escaping the shearing shed

Basketball: I present the scores of the last 6 meetings between Texas and Texas A&M occurring in Reed Arena, College Station. 81-66, 80-63, 100-82, 46-43, 76-43, 69-59. Those are the scores moving backwards in time from last season to the 2003-04 season. All are Aggy victories with the exception of the 69-59 victory earned behind a 6,10,7 from Royal Ivey. As we are all familiar, if we take the time to drag the rotten memories out of

Rick Barnes answers…

Texas Football: Since I didn't have anything on Monday I'm back today with thoughts on some of the individual guys in the current class of 13. I don't have much to say on the OL as I generally agree with the Roll On You Bears take that projecting the potential of 300 pound bullies dominating 200 pound lineman in highlight tapes is about has roughly the same predictive value as a Paul Krugman column. I did

Crazy Wednesday Night in College Basketball

Posted by Trips Right on February 4th, 2010 under Basketball

Let's start in the Big 12 where Kansas needed overtime to dispose of an upstart Colorado bunch. Buff fans will lament the foul call with 36 seconds to play that sent Sherron Collins to the line to tie or take the lead. The call, quite frankly, was an amazingly bad bail out that had been a no call for the whole game. Well, if you were Colorado anyway. But get this, on their

Recruiting: As Nickel Rover tradition dictates, I went over to the statesman and read Suzanne Haliburton and Kirk Bohls try to answer questions about the recruiting class in a live chat. There really isn't much of value there save for what they can answer due to access to the coaches. If you would rather not read ill-informed questions answered by people with surprisingly little football knowledge the highlights are as follows: 1). Kirk Bohls thinks USC
