From the Statesman's Suzanne Halliburton: Rumors continued to swirl late Wednesday on whether Longhorns defensive coordinator and coach-in-waiting Will Muschamp would jump to Tennessee, but Texas football spokesman John Bianco said late Wednesday night that Muschamp has not interviewed with the Volunteers. Further, Bianco said that Muschamp told him Wednesday that he is “happy here and plans on being at Texas for a long time.” Muschamp was in Austin on Wednesday, despite media reports from Texas to Tennessee

Ed Orgeron to Vol Recruits: “Don’t Go To Class.”

Posted by srr50 on January 13th, 2010 under Football

Sources are reporting that former Tennessee recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron took a little time off from packing for USC to encourage 9 mid-term recruits not to go to class today at Tennessee. Once the recruits actually go to class, they fall under strict NCAA rules about transferring and would have to sit out a full year. The arrogance of all involved is something to see. You have to assume that since USC is bringing back

I’m Shocked, I’m Stunned: Tennessee Football Under NCAA Investigation

Posted by srr50 on December 9th, 2009 under Football

Seems the NCAA is interested in the Vols use of recruiting hostesses to entertain top recruits. NCAA investigators have already interviewed four propspects, concentrating on the Vol Hostesses and their actually attending some of the prospects high school football games off-campus. The potential NCAA Violation is that the hostesses are considered representatives of the university, which would mean they could not recruit players off campus. In one case, hostesses reportedly traveled nearly 200 miles to

Posted by srr50 on November 12th, 2009 under Football

Allegedly One of the players involved, Nu'Keese Richardson, was at the center of the recruiting controversy earlier this year when Lane Kiffin accused Florida's Urban Meyer of cheating on his recruiting of Richardson. Richardson hails from Pahokee, Fla. which earlier this week was the subject of a USA Today article that paints Pahokee as a troubled town that lives through its HS football team.

Ed Dawn

Posted by HenryJames on October 21st, 2009 under Football

Recruits in Atlanta thought they would be protected from Ed Orgeron by traffic and the confusion that results in putting the word 'peach' in every fucking street name, and there are actually some places that you can't get to even in a Hummer. But Orgeron won't be denied. He's flying over Atlanta's sprawl and landing right outside players' schools. In a helicopter apparently piloted by Wade Boggs. " The best part

Barking Carnival’s Rx for Bye Week Blues

No Paxil involved. As disappointed as we all are that Texas doesn't have a directional school from a dubious conference to pummel this weekend, you don't have to fall prey to the Bye Week Blues.

Florida Gators -28 vs Tennessee Volunteers: Lay The Points

Posted by srr50 on September 15th, 2009 under Football

Florida enters this week's game with Tennessee a four-touchdown favorite. It's not enough. Florida coach Urban Meyer says he holds Tennessee defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin in great admiration -- his son, not so much. New Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin spent most of his first few months on the job poking the Gators with a stick, including accusing Meyer of recruiting violations. Addressing a booster gathering the day after national signing day, while

Bryce Brown picks Tennessee

Wow. God revealed his choice to him. As in: In God We Trust. On money. That he's being paid a lot of. "I asked God to reveal it to me," Brown said. "He gave me the sign. When I first went there (on official visit) I wasn't feeling it. I had a lot of concerns about Tennessee and the offense. When I went back, I got the
