Combine Saturday open thread

Posted by HenryJames on February 27th, 2010 under Football

You can watch the combine live on the NFL Network. Colt had an MRI on his shoulder, and everything is fine. "Obviously, that was going to be a tough part of the weekend, because people are going to want to know how the shoulder is and how it's healing up," the University of Texas standout said. "The good thing is my shoulder is 100 percent fine. There's nothing wrong with it. We found nothing wrong

I rewatched the tape today so I now have a better idea of the defense's performance last night.

Practice: Day Eleven

Posted by HenryJames on August 20th, 2009 under Football

Yesterday's Longhorn scrimmage had a couple of special guests. Mack Brown says on his blog that both Spike Dykes and Joe Greene (whose name Brown misspells) stopped by. No jersey for you, Mack. That kid later died of auto-erotic asphyxiation in that same tunnel. No video is up as of yet, and the pictures link is broken. So I'll just make up

Practice: Day Eight

Posted by HenryJames on August 16th, 2009 under Football

Texas only had a single practice today, and it was partially in the bubble because it's like 180 degrees in Austin right now. We begin as always with Mack Brown's blog. Mack's got a new stat that emphasizes the importance of depth. We talk about building depth – creating and maintaining a mental edge every day. It's one of the reasons we feel like we're never out of a game. We don't find ourselves

Practice: Day Three

Posted by HenryJames on August 12th, 2009 under Uncategorized

The first day of (shoulder) pads. Did you know that shoulder pads and jersey weigh 5 1/2 pounds and that the helmet weighs 4 pounds? You would if you read Mack Brown's blog. Remember when coaches didn't allow you to drink water at practice because it was supposed to make you tougher? Yeah, the Nuremberg trials took care of those guys. In addition to testing for sickle cell trait, we run specific tests to determine

To Catch a Predator

Posted by Scipio Tex on August 6th, 2009 under Football

Welcome to To Catch A Predator. I'm Chris Hansen with Dateline NBC. I ambush men who think they're going to have sex with underage teens and make their boners go away. Then, with the help of law enforcement, we rehabilitate them by sending them away to be raped by Aryan prison gangs. Like Nancy Grace, I possess significant moral authority by virtue of the fact that

Sundry

Guess who crashed into Big 12 Media Day? Sergio won't be suspended, but he vows not to drive and text anymore. Studies have shown that it impairs you. Don't believe me? Here's an authorative bureaucrat: Ditlow said the findings showed that a driver using a cell phone was four times as likely to be involved in a crash as other drivers, while the dangers of texting while driving were

Pics of Sergio Kindle’s crash site

Posted by HenryJames on June 27th, 2009 under Football

When we at Barking Carnival heard about Sergio Kindle's accident, we immediately dispatched our staff photographer to the scene to get some pictures. In other words, I drove by this morning and took some pictures with my iphone before I got breakfast tacos. The accident occurred at 2704 Rio Grande, and the apartment into which Kindle drove is part of a huge complex. Rio Grande is two lanes but one way. The white truck wouldn't normally

Sergio Kindle drives his car into an apartment

Posted by HenryJames on June 26th, 2009 under

Here's the initial report from the Statesman. Police are looking for a driver who crashed into a West Campus apartment early Wednesday. There were no injuries. Witnesses saw several people get out of a car that crashed into an apartment at 2704 Rio Grande St., police Cpl. Scott Perry said today. The people who got out of the car pushed it out of the apartment, down the street and then abandoned it a short distance later, Perry
