September 18, 2010 at Texas Tech

Posted by HenryJames on November 12th, 2009 under Football

So Texas Tech released their 2010 football schedule yesterday, and typically no one cares outside of the American Legion post in Lamesa. But then there was this: One of the highest viewer-rated games in ABC history, the 2008 home game against Texas is continuing to pay dividends. The game was moved ahead in the schedule this season to provide the network an attractive early-season Big 12 game, and the same has been done

BCS Conference Watch

Posted by srr50 on September 28th, 2009 under Football

With a full month of football in the books, we have a deep enough database of non-conference games to take a look at how inter-league play has gone so far among the BCS conferences. First a couple of generalities. HOME SWEET HOME Obviously the six BCS conferences know they are working from a position of strength when it comes to scheduling, and all teams want (and need) as many home gates as they can get. But

Season opener is on pay-per-view

Posted by HenryJames on July 24th, 2009 under Football

The kickoff for the season opener against Louisiana-FEMA Trailer has been set for 6pm. And it's on pay-per-view. Allsome. LSU wants to play in Texas

LSU is looking to upgrade their football schedule, and they've already added home and home series with West Virginia, TCU, Arizona State, North Carolina State and Oklahoma. “Playing a big-name team every year is just something we’ve got to do if we’re going to compete for the national championship like we want to," says LSU athletic director Mike Alleva. Not sure that's true playing in the SEC, but it's a commendable if not supportable position.

Rice vs Texas in 2010

Posted by HenryJames on July 14th, 2009 under

It's going to be played in Reliant Stadium. Well Rice is in 'talks' with Reliant, but it's going to happen. Texas didn't schedule a true home series with Rice, and the last time they played Rice in Houston was at Reliant in 2003. I remember Chance Mock was our starting quarterback, and I paid $12 for a cheeseburger. Which was worse in retrospect? And Houston outdoors in...shakes magic eight ball...September will suck.
