On MLB Web TV: Click To Watch Horns seem to be in pinstripe pants. This excites Mr. Blogtober in strange ways.

Rice:Texas at Reliant in 2010

Posted by Doperbo on August 27th, 2009 under Football

Rice University at Reliant.

Sifting through my notice pile and found this gem from last week. Official Owl Internet Site Place Hosting the game at Reliant isn't really newsworthy. I mean, we've played Rice there a couple of times already, most of us have seen Reliant by now (very cool, btw), and we're not exactly risking wholesale loss of tradition or anything here on Rice's part. I know a lot of Rice grads and almost uniformly like hanging out

2009 Iowa State Football Preview: State of the Union

Posted by Vasherized on August 25th, 2009 under Football

Perhaps a fitting sign of where things stand in Ames, Iowa with football season just two weeks away is the cover story at cyclonereport.com which features a recent commitment by some dude named Melvin Ejim – to the basketball team. CloneChronicles.com is all over this breaking story as well. In fact, every news outlet in Ames is devoting its full attention so they don't have to talk about the sad state of

Rice vs Texas in 2010

Posted by HenryJames on July 14th, 2009 under

It's going to be played in Reliant Stadium. Well Rice is in 'talks' with Reliant, but it's going to happen. Texas didn't schedule a true home series with Rice, and the last time they played Rice in Houston was at Reliant in 2003. I remember Chance Mock was our starting quarterback, and I paid $12 for a cheeseburger. Which was worse in retrospect? And Houston outdoors in...shakes magic eight ball...September will suck.

College Football 2009: And They All Fell Down

Posted by Scipio Tex on July 2nd, 2009 under Football

Who is slated for their comeuppance in 2009? Some really good coaches, actually. And one or two that are perceived to be. I will eschew the legalistic prick picks like Utah (the Utes went 10-3 in 2009, crashing down from their 13-0 record in '08!!!!) and give you a few of the teams that will be picnicking on shit sandwiches and will be qualitatively much worse in 2009. Texas/Rice Football Review

DVR is an amazing thing. Watching the game without live action unladen by emotion, you always see a different contest. You realize how much of football really is the little things. The twin gifts of rewind and dispassion. So obviously we beat the carbs out of Rice. Like our two previous non-conference routs, there is danger in extrapolating too much from this, but we all learned a little to

Offensive thoughts on Rice

Posted by HenryJames on September 22nd, 2008 under Football

First off, let me preface my remarks. It was Rice. Now I know that Rice gives scholarships too, but we usually do (get away with?) a lot of stuff against Rice that we don't do against other teams. Like trick plays. I really liked the passing game for the most part. You see what happens when you use double moves and hit guys while they're moving. Greg Davis was quoted in the Statesman saying, "Jordan

We've got Barkers in such exotic locales as Napa Valley and College Station. Others have no power so their Internets are down. Hence, the open thread. Please opine.
