Tired of 11:00 AM Kickoffs For Texas-OU?

Posted by srr50 on October 26th, 2009 under Football

Too bad because ABC loves them. Thanks to the early start -- and no real competition from other games -- the Red River Rivalry was the most watched college football game of the Oct. 17th weekend. Texas' 16-13 win over OU this year brought one million more fans to the TV sets than the 7.7 million who watched the game in 2008. ABC drew a 5.7 rating and 8.7 million viewers for

Piling On

Okay, it's Friday and the Longhorns have a game tomorrow against Missouri. So I feel a little behind the times posting yet another piece on our offense's struggles against Oklahoma. I spent the last few days following our depressing win preparing for and defending a soul-crushing deposition. So I've had a shitty week. Please indulge my tardy addition to the board. What do I have to add to the brilliant

Podcast. Now!

What are these things exactly? Is it a verb? A movement? Another evil Steve Jobs invention? Forrester Research recently published a study that the average podcastionado makes $300K a year, scores a lot of pussy, and follows a team that always wins. Now is your chance to take a leap into the strange world of live chatrooms, awkward pauses, dead air, technology failures, wild ass theories, X's and O's, and in this case -- very

Get Ready to Analogize

Here we go again According to Chip Brown at Orangebloods.com, Mack Brown had this to say in reference to the last two weeks on offense: “It’s really hard when you’re reckless, and Colorado did the same thing,” Brown said. “They were blitzing or twisting every play. And we put up with it for the Colorado game, knowing we had this package for Oklahoma."

2009 Oklahoma Sooners Post-Mortem

Beating OU is sweet nectar. Longhorns who don't view Sooner as our natural enemy are as strange to me as the concept of no-fault auto insurance.

Texas OU thoughts

If you had told me before the game that we would force five turnovers, I would have thought we would have won by 21. Instead we won by 3. Guh. The first half of this game felt like 2005 all over again.

There will be no Heisman trophy brought back to the 40 Acres at the end of this season.

The Inflection Point – Part 2

Posted by TaylorTRoom on October 18th, 2009 under Football

After the 2006 RRS, I wrote an "essay" called "The Inflection Point" for some friends.  The basic point was that something fundamental had changed in the UT and OU programs, shifting a balance of power that had been hard-tilted OU's way.

Halftime rant open thread

Our offense is horrible. Flat horrible. OU has like watched film and shit, and we have no answer. None. Defense and special teams are doing their best to score for us. It's probably our only chance. Colt and Shipley are pressing, trying to do too much. Our offensive line has never seen a blitz they couldn't fail to pick up. Greg Davis abandoned the running game down 6-0 in the first quarter.
