Nike U in Turmoil

Posted by srr50 on March 19th, 2010 under Basketball

10 weeks ago, Oregon played in the Rose Bowl as Pac 10 champions. Since their loss to Ohio State, the program has been in some kind of bizzaro parallel universe where every headline concerns a player arrest, a firing, or now a resignation. Mike Bellotti, the Duck AD and former head coach earlier this week fired basketball coach Ernie Kent, the winningest coach in school history. Then today, in a slighly surreal press conference, Bellotti,

GameWatch Week 10

Posted by Scipio Tex on November 6th, 2009 under Football

One of the coolest things about living in California, aside from paying taxes that makes Belgians wince, is the fact that college football is in full swing as I breakfast: usually a fiber-rich muesli bought fair trade from Andean Indiginos. After my exfoliating regimen, making a lease payment on my Range Rover, and my Scientology self-affirmations, I begin my game-watching.

jones Top Ten – Week 9 – 2009

Consider the duck: a beautiful animal, regularly shot for the amusement, and dining pleasure, of the American people. In orange sauce in Chinatown, on tiny plates with toast points in fine restaurants, stuffed unceremoniously with chicken and then jammed, even less ceremoniously, into a turkey for a New Orleans Thanksgiving, our nation needs ducks. We have an entire conservation society founded on the premise that we require a limitless supply, so that we can continue

Root Against Boise State Tonight

Beyond this just being a fun game to kick off the 2009 College Football season, it really actually matters to us a great deal more than it should. Let's look at the surface level stuff: -Oregon is a respected program that is ranked within the preseason top 20 of both polls. -Oregon plays in the PAC 10 & while we don't think highly of that conference, it is still a power conference with plenty of prestige,

Some brief thoughts on the Oregon game

Posted by Trips Right on November 26th, 2008 under Basketball

The defense was once again smothering, inside and out. We were sloppy with the basketball and missed way too many point blank finishes. We need to finish those against better competition. I rewatched the Notre Dame game and this was a problem as well. It looked like we made a concerted effort to have some semblance of a post game. I love the counter off of the ball screen that includes a

Barking Bets Week 9

Posted by Trips Right on October 24th, 2008 under

Well went a stellar 4-0 hitting both my 2 unit plays which runs my post Hurricane Ike record to 6-3 up 3.6 units. Let's keep this thing rolling into week 9. On to the bets. Oregon -3 at Arizona State. 1 unit. This game is all about the matchups and when you take one of the top 10 defensive lines in the country and pit them against the revolving door that comprises

Ouch

First a knee injury to Kellen Clemens kills Oregon's chances to beat USC and win the Pac-10. Then Dennis Dixon's knee kills their MNC hopes. Now future star Nate Costa tears his ACL again and will miss his second straight full season of action. His future is dangling in the wind, just like his leg.

Ed Orgeron recruits for Cal and Oregon

Posted by BRAGGonUT on February 5th, 2008 under Football

Since Orgeron got canned at Ole Miss on November 24th, he has had plenty of time to kill. He signed on to be the New Orleans Saints DL coach in late January. Yeah, I think it is funny Everyone knows Big Ed loves to recruit. He even replaced his drinking and tail chasing with The Chase of division 1 football players, according to Meat Market. And when he couldn't
