Mess At Michigan

Posted by srr50 on February 4th, 2010 under Football

After winning just 8 games in his first two years at Michigan, Rich Rodriguez was looking forward to talking about his latest recruiting haul for the Wolverines. Michigan inked 27 players, the largest recruiting class in UM history, but at his press conference, Rich Rod had to spend time saying he knew nothing about the special session of the Board of Regents also held Wednesday to hear an update on the NCAA investigation

Let’s Analogize Some More: Texas A&M = Michigan State

Posted by srr50 on October 23rd, 2009 under Football

It is a known fact that we here at BC just love us some analogizing. So Eyes' post on the state of Aggie Football brought to mind an analogy that might help explain to our Aggie Brethren just where they fit on the football food chain. Look to the Big 10. Ohio State is to Michigan as Oklahoma is to Texas. Michigan State is to Michigan as Texas A&M is to Texas. Or to put

Barking Carnival’s Rx for Bye Week Blues

Posted by Scipio Tex on September 30th, 2009 under Football

No Paxil involved. As disappointed as we all are that Texas doesn't have a directional school from a dubious conference to pummel this weekend, you don't have to fall prey to the Bye Week Blues.

Texas 2009 = BYU 1984? Cross Your Fingers

It’s very easy to see that title and find it somewhat disconcerting or annoying. It kind of annoys me.

Blogging Co-Prosperity Sphere advocate Michigan fan Brian Cook has tasked College Game Balls with this week's questionnaire for an escape into whimsy and Pretend-land.

Cobi Hamilton, Brandon Collins, & Hindsight

Posted by CloseToJumping on September 11th, 2009 under Football

One of the great things about this site is that basically every blog post ever written is saved into the archives and they're easy to retrieve. Sometimes, I find it interesting to follow a story or a player or a coach over a period of time and look back on what we thought as things unfolded. I usually laugh at our pseudo-genius & certainty. Cobi Hamilton is starting for Arkansas this weekend, a week after

Barking Bets: Week 2

Posted by Trips Right on September 10th, 2009 under Football

A forgettable card until I look at my bank statement. I put too much stock in Tom O'Brien and Russell Wilson. O'Brien's NC State offense made the wing T look innovative. Wilson looked like he was slower than Stephen Garcia. Perhaps a looming Major League contract would make us all a bit slower. So two nickels down there. Ok State made about 4 plays from scrimmage on offense, had

More Trouble For Rich Rod, Michigan

Posted by srr50 on September 3rd, 2009 under Football

Rich Rodriguez must be counting the minutes to kick off Saturday against Western Michigan. It will at least take his mind off his NCAA and legal problems. Now Rodriguez is being sued for $3.9 million over a failed condominium project near the Virginia Tech football stadium in Blacksburg, Va. It turns out that he partnered up with Clegg Lamar Greene, a Clemson booster who has been banned -- twice -- by Clemson for alleged

The Heck do ya Mean?!

Posted by Minnesotahorn on June 10th, 2009 under Uncategorized

Reports have surfaced indicating that Texas is in negotiations with the University of Minnesota for a home and home and Barking Carnival's exclusive sources* indicate that talks may be coming to a head.  For obvious reasons this appeals to me personally but it's also a continuation of a trend in our scheduling that I think is worth exploring.  *My aunt Sandra who works in U of M admissions, has nothing to do with and little

Big 10 BCS Road Record

Posted by srr50 on December 17th, 2008 under Football

Yesterday began a look at the BCS conferences and their non-conference road schedules during the BCS Era. The theory being that road records are a legitimate indication of the strength of a team and a conference since you face more hardships and usually tougher opponents when away from home. Today the Big 10 Big 10 Non-Conference Road Results Total                                            vs BCS 61-58    51%                                32-47    40.5% vs. ACC 6-2   75% vs Big East 9-3   75% vs Big 12 5-10   33% vs Pac 10 6-18   25% vs SEC 0-4    0% vs
