Tracking Baylor, Foresight Wizardy, & Other Quickies

Posted by CloseToJumping on September 7th, 2009 under Football

The Briles Baylor Bears Bowl March Well, I promised a Baylor update every week, whether my prediction of 8-4 begins to look like an absurdity or not. I am always happy to eat crow and be mocked, as I gladly return that when I can. Well, today is more me mocking than anything, so imagine me typing this post with my bare ass pointed at your face,… unless you agreed with me. Baylor is now 1-0.

2009 Colorado Football Preview: State of the Union

Posted by HenryJames on August 28th, 2009 under Football

Buffaloed.

Dan Hawkins is a confident guy, but he’s not a patient guy. He wants to win now. The Colorado fanbase isn’t so much impatient as they are apathetic. If you don’t want the student body eating Nepalese food and listening to Ward Churchill speeches rather than watching football, you need to give them something to watch. "There's a what game?" I think Hawkins suffers from the same recruiting errors that did in Dennis

Prattfall

Posted by HenryJames on July 10th, 2009 under

While many coaches and players are taking it easy right now, the Mack Brown Curse is hard at work. It claimed its latest victim yesterday. Oklahoma State freshman running back Dexter Pratt was charged with possession of marijuana. The charges say Pratt and teammate Jamal Mosley "knowingly possessed and controlled within his residence a small plastic bag containing what appeared to be, and subsequently field tested positive as a small amount of marihuana (sic)." Pratt was

Posted by HenryJames on June 26th, 2009 under

Here's the initial report from the Statesman. Police are looking for a driver who crashed into a West Campus apartment early Wednesday. There were no injuries. Witnesses saw several people get out of a car that crashed into an apartment at 2704 Rio Grande St., police Cpl. Scott Perry said today. The people who got out of the car pushed it out of the apartment, down the street and then abandoned it a short distance later, Perry

The Mack Brown Curse claims another victim

Posted by HenryJames on May 28th, 2009 under Football

This time it's former Colorado linebacker Lynn Katoa. Texas recruited Katoa, but he never actually made it to campus for an official visit. That's too bad. For him. He's flunked out of Colorado, according to The Buffzone Blog's Kyle Ringo, after needing to "apply himself, bear down and focus." Instead he "did just the opposite." "If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right." That makes Katoa the

Mustain’t gonna start at QB for USC

Posted by HenryJames on April 22nd, 2009 under Football

Looks like former Arkansas starting QB and Texas recruit Mitch Mustain won't be the starting QB for USC next year. When you begin your athletic journey by saying yes to Houston Nutt, you have to expect bumps in the road. Or a twenty car pileup. And so who is the starter? That's right. Aaron Corp. You say his name like you say the name Steve Holt! Why Corp? I mean aside from the

Jerry Bomar: “I Know Stuff, But I’m Not Talking”

Posted by srr50 on January 22nd, 2009 under Football

While Rhett Bomar is in Mobile, working out for NFL personnel, his dad issues a smarmy, slimy defense of his son’s troubles at OU. Not surprisingly, Jerry Bomar says that OU threw his son under the Sooner Schooner. When discussing his son's dismissal from OU for the Big Red Auto scandal, the elder Bomar gives a wink and a nod and says essentially he could take down the program, but he is too nice to

Burnt Orange Beat’s 2010 Top 125 in Texas

Posted by HenryJames on December 2nd, 2008 under Football

Now is the time to identify whom you think Texas should recruit, and then violently mock those who disagree with you. I'll start. Anyone who doesn't think that Jackson Jeffcoat is the best defensive end to come out of Texas in the last 15 years is a cross-dressing Nazi. It's free.

Mack Brown Curse #87…Darrell Scott?

Posted by Trips Right on October 16th, 2008 under Football

Interesting story from Buffzone. Seems like old Darrell has publicly stated he doesn't listen to Darian Hagan, his position Coach. Wow. “I’m not backing off,” Hagan said Wednesday. “I’m coaching him up with intensity. He’s a guy who really has never had anyone to push him and challenge him. So it’s new to him. “Every little nick is bothersome for him, and he don’t understand that as long as you’re playing this game of
Darrell Scott was the biggest recruiting story Texas fans followed for many, many years. It came down to the last week of the recruiting season which is, by far, the exception and not the rule for past 10 years. Scott was not just a 5-star recruit, but a top 5 national recruit. And he was from California, which makes him different to recruiting junkies. I am guilty as charged. Five stars
