Big 12 Hoops Title Chase 2/2/10

Posted by dick on February 1st, 2010 under Basketball

You may have noticed that I only update this after a nice Texas win. Well, it has been a while and I am even more pessimistic about our chances at a Big 12 Title and NCAA Tournament success. Again, I lump everyone into "contender" status and the list is flexible as the season goes on (bye bye OU). I’ll try to update it weekly after Texas beats KU next Monday. The Contenders Kansas

What a difference it must be to have playmaking guards.

Big 12 Hoops Title Chase

Posted by dick on January 19th, 2010 under Basketball

Yes, I am starting to think about this already.  Our basketball program has finally reached the point where it's all about the end and not the journey.  Big 12 Title and Tournament success or bust.  Our football team has been there for quite a while so we should recognize the feeling.  I'll break the race down between the "contenders".  Along the way, some teams may ascend to contender status (aTm, Ok St) while some may fall out (OU).  I'll

Tracking Baylor, Foresight Wizardy, & Other Quickies

The Briles Baylor Bears Bowl March Well, I promised a Baylor update every week, whether my prediction of 8-4 begins to look like an absurdity or not. I am always happy to eat crow and be mocked, as I gladly return that when I can. Well, today is more me mocking than anything, so imagine me typing this post with my bare ass pointed at your face,… unless you agreed with me. Baylor is now 1-0.

2009 Kansas State Football Preview: State of the Union

The single biggest challenge in writing up anything about Kansas State, on any subject if I had to guess, is making the story interesting enough to keep the reader awake beyond the first few words. Sailor Ripley is a sick human being that needs to be wrapped in a burlap sack and beaten with reeds for putting this write-up on me. In any event, I thought of a few things that at least entertained

Big 12 Media Days: The return of Bill Snyder

Posted by HenryJames on July 30th, 2009 under Football

Exciting times up in...(Googles 'Big 12 Media Days')...Irving. Kansas State Bill Snyder is back coaching again after spending three years in retirement. Three years?! Can anyone even remember that long ago? It's pretty cool seeing Snyder at these type of events. It's rare that you get to see him publicly exhibit human personality. Q. Have you considered there's a danger you're going to kill yourself trying to get back to where you were

Predicting The Big 12 North

Posted by Scipio Tex on July 10th, 2009 under Football

It will be a three team race to determine this year's sacrificial lamb for the Big 12 Championship game in Arlington. Assuming nothing of significance occurs on the injury front or that Cody Hawkins doesn't grow three inches from hanging on monkey bars, the contenders and non-contenders break out pretty cleanly and, affirming my South-o-centric view, each North contender's Big 12 South draw will be the primary determinant of who gets to receive blunt

College Basketball: Big XII Tournament – Texas 61 KSU 58

Man, do we ever have a shaky basketball team but it was nice to see them compete. With this win, it's also quite likely that we've given ourselves the opportunity to grab a minimum 7 seed and, of course, an eventual shot at a conference tournament title. We actually played excellent defense throughout the game (KSU shot < 30%), but the Wildcats shot 65 shots to our 45 by forcing us into
