Stats n’ Bloodies

Posted by Vasherized on November 8th, 2009 under Football

Here are a few Saturday stats that go well with a Sunday morning Bloody Mary while you book flights to Pasadena, set fantasy football lineups, and pretend your female companion really doesn't care that you plan to watch another 12 hours of football today. February is for mending relationships and watching college basketball -- nothing else. Jordan Shipley set a Texas record single game record with 11 catches for 273 yds and 1 TD against UCF.

The Texas Longhorns Offense…

. . . is good, but hasn't reached it's potential yet. We are getting better every week, but we still have some bumps in the road.

Colt McCoy to Jordan Shipley at 40 MPH

Posted by Trips Right on September 2nd, 2009 under Football

This is probably the coolest thing you can do on a boat.  Well, one of them anyway.  Certainly the coolest thing you can do at over 40 mph on a boat. The throw is, of course, accurate, but the catch is unreal.

Practice: Day Eight

Posted by HenryJames on August 16th, 2009 under Football

Texas only had a single practice today, and it was partially in the bubble because it's like 180 degrees in Austin right now. We begin as always with Mack Brown's blog. Mack's got a new stat that emphasizes the importance of depth. We talk about building depth – creating and maintaining a mental edge every day. It's one of the reasons we feel like we're never out of a game. We don't find ourselves

Decoding Day Four

Posted by Vasherized on August 13th, 2009 under Football

ChrisApplewhite's post about mean aggressors incited some existential dilemmas that have me questioning everything today. Then I read the usa-mexico futbol thread again and everything became whole. Now I feel like Keanu Reeves in Little Buddha. Whoa. Thank Tebow college football is back. As HenryJames already mentioned in his Day 4 recap of neatly codified links to entirely outsourced content, many different conclusions can be drawn from the

Practice: Day Two

Because colons make it sound important. All information at this point is from MackBrown-TexasFootball.com, but I am presenting it here in an organized fashion thereby saving you at least 10 seconds of internet browsing. You're welcome. Mack Brown has a blog. Has Sailor Ripley already asked him to write for BC? Does he know that you can't address everyone by their first names on the internet? So many questions. The latest entry has the team's

7 on 7 scrimmage report

Posted by Vasherized on July 23rd, 2009 under Football

Got a chance to watch the guys scrimmage Texas State last night inside the bubble in a 7 on 7 format, which is basically Sherrod or GG snapping the ball to Colt (or vice-versa) who has his choice of 4 WRs or a TE. These were my random notes with a few follow up thoughts: Colt to Malcolm Williams on two perfectly thrown deep balls that #9 ripped out of the air in tight coverage. He's

Shipley may only return punts next year

Posted by HenryJames on July 23rd, 2009 under Football

Maybe. Not much of a story, but Kirk Bohls posted something on Monday that Jordan Shipley may not be a full time kick returner next year. Too bad. According to Bohls: They spoke about the issue in the spring, and (Mack) Brown joked, “It didn’t go well. Jordan wants to do it all, but we thought (returning all kickoffs) was too much.” Not

Shipley gets sixth year

Posted by HenryJames on December 22nd, 2008 under Football

Texas receiver Jordan Shipley has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. This is big for Texas. He missed both the 2004 and 2005 seasons because of injuries.

This one hurt

Posted by HenryJames on November 1st, 2008 under Football

Forgive this rambling, but this was a heartbreaking loss. After spotting Texas Tech nineteen points, we clawed our way back into the lead only to lose on the final play. I haven't watched the replay yet. Too much agony. Instead I think I'll shove bamboo slivers underneath my fingernails. This loss is on our offensive coaches. They set the tone for the first half by lining up in the I formation on our own 1 yard
