Liveblogging the Heisman

Posted by HenryJames on December 12th, 2009 under Football

Perhaps the most exciting night in college football history. I do not exaggerate! Billy Sims just said 'be respectful of the trophy.' Billy does exaggerate. Chris Fowler just said Sims was in a classroom at OU when he heard he won the Heisman. There are no words. Doug Flutie bought his suit on Canal Street a couple of hours ago. Was Jim Plunkett 'Billy Bear' in 48 Hours? Times Square sucks. Twenty years ago the finalists could have gotten a

Coltable Quote

I mean 'Quotable Colt.' McCoy is aware that Statesman columnist Kirk Bohls did not cast his Heisman ballot for him. And so Colt uncharacteristically let it be known publicly that he didn't appreciate the slight. "Tell Kirk Bohls thanks for all the votes. You can put that on the air or anywhere you want." Like the internets. Angry Colt? I think I like it, but I don't know how long it will last because he spent the next hour

Posted by srr50 on December 9th, 2009 under Football

If Alabama's Mark Ingram wins the Heisman this Saturday, he will be the first from that tradition-rich program to take home the hardware. Texas of course has two Heismans in the vault, and Colt McCoy will be on stage Saturday as one of the finalists.

McCoy, Tebow, Ingram, Gerhart and Suh. Interesting that 3 out of the 4 offensive candidates play on teams that owe most of their success this year to their defense. If Heisman voters waited until the final weekend to decide, Suh will win. But he won't.

Posted by EyesOfTX on November 27th, 2009 under Football

First, let’s give credit where it is due:  The Texas A&M players played a whale of a football game, especially on offense, and Mike Sherman and his coaching staff did a very fine job of preparing their team to exploit the previously un-exploitable Texas defense.

The Cynic’s Guide To The 2009 Heisman Race

Irony.

Full disclosure: I detest the Heisman. Even more than hipsters. Except when a Longhorn wins.

The Most Outstanding Player in College Football

That's who the Heisman is supposed to go to each year. So let's hear some ideas on what three names would appear on your ballot. I admit I haven't watched as many games as I'd like this year,

Tim Tebow Probably Just Cemented Another Heisman

Posted by Sailor Ripley on September 26th, 2009 under Football

Dude led his team to victory against a milquetoast Kentucky Wildcat squad while suffering from the flu, took a huge hit, rode on a golf cart, barfed in a Hefty bag and drove off in the back of an ambulance. The end-of-game montage with the hit and the flashing emergency lights were pure poetry. Then they go to the Houston / Texas Tech game and Mike Patrick wishes a very heartfelt speedy recovery to The
