Brandon Spikes really believes that Tim Tebow can heal the blind

Why else would he try to gouge out the Georgia running back's eyes?

How badly does the $EC want an undefeated team?

Posted by HenryJames on October 20th, 2009 under Football

Apparently bad enough that conference officials are deciding the outcomes of games. During undefeated LSU's game against Georgia on October 3rd, the officials incorrectly flagged Georgia with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after they took the lead with a little over a minute to play. LSU got the ball in good field position and scored with 33 seconds left to win it. Rogers Redding, the Southeastern Conference coordinator of officials, said the call should not have

Barking Carnival’s Rx for Bye Week Blues

Posted by Scipio Tex on September 30th, 2009 under Football

No Paxil involved. As disappointed as we all are that Texas doesn't have a directional school from a dubious conference to pummel this weekend, you don't have to fall prey to the Bye Week Blues.

Overheard Injury News on the Interwebs

Posted by Trips Right on September 4th, 2009 under Football

Well, we all know that Jermaine Gresham has a torn meniscus thanks to Close to Jumping's schadenfreude, which is German for smooth buttfucking. Every time a sooner injures a joint overstressed and inundated with pharmaceutical grade muscle, it's fun to watch CTJ walk in with his size 18's, honk his sooner hating red nose, and club the baby seal caricature that is Sooner fandom and your garden variety Oklahoman. But I regress...

Why I am wrong about Georgia

Posted by jonestopten on August 5th, 2009 under Football

Maybe you are, too. I noted in a recent Scipio post on who was headed for a fall that perhaps Georgia had "maxed out" under Mark Richt (not a bad place to max out really, multiple 10/11 win seasons, conference titles, Sugar Bowls). I thought perhaps Georgia was becoming a team where all the stars needed to align in a given year and their year was last year. I'm wrong. If you take into

College prepared Matt Stafford for the NFL

Then: Now: Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars? Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two chicks at the same time, man. Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time? Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I were a millionaire I could hook that up, too; 'cause chicks dig

BCS Conferences as Road Warriors

Posted by srr50 on December 16th, 2008 under Football

As long as we are stuck with the BCS system we are stuck with a beauty contest where style points matter. And that means people’s opinions of the relative strengths of the BCS conferences also matters. We already have a look at how the six BCS conferences did in non-conference action in 2008. Is there anyway to look at the BCS conferences over the length of the BCS? I decided one factor to concentrate on

I changed my mind, the game should’ve been cancelled

Posted by mdr on September 27th, 2008 under

I have done a complete 180 on this issue. When oil man Tex Pitfield suggested that Georgia governor Sonny Perdue call off the UGA - Alabama game to save gas, I like many others scoffed at the thought. After all, this was a huge game in the SEC, a boom to the local economy, and you know, like a really big deal and stuff, and we wanted to wear our black shirts,

Yes, Nick Saban's had his team for less than a year and a half and he just dominated Richt's more talented unit.
