View From The North Endzone

Posted by srr50 on September 1st, 2008 under Football

52-10 will look pretty damn good from any angle in DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium-Joe Jamail Field-Taco Bell Jumbotron, but the intitial impression from seats dead in the middle of the new north endzone addition, is that it is a great place to watch a game from. You are close enough to the action that the players don't look like pieces from the old electric football game, and high up enough to give you a coach's film view

Happy Birthday to Me!

Posted by EyesOfTX on August 30th, 2008 under Football

Some things I'll be looking for from the Longhorns on my birthday today, which I think will go a long way to determining how good this team will be for the rest of the year: Can our offensive line get a real push on a very mediocre and undersized defensive line? - If we can't run the ball out of the I on this team, it is going to be a long, long season in the

Tune in for more information if you feel you might want some additional commentary, insight, snide remarks, caviling, name calling, finger pointing, and other general bad behavior. Special halftime guests may include Howard Schenllenberger, Bill Little and Jose Nassar.

Rusty Smith vs Texas

Posted by HenryJames on August 27th, 2008 under Football

The most important matchup on Saturday is going to be Florida Atlantic quarterback Rusty Smith against the new and hopefully improved Texas defense. Smith was the Sun Belt Conference player of the year, and he probably has an NFL future. Don't believe me? Then let's ask Howard Schnellenberger: "Based on the quarterbacks that I have had the fortune to be around, Joe Namath for two years and then Bert Jones and then Bob Griese and Earl

Florida Atlantic’s offensive line is hurting

Posted by HenryJames on August 26th, 2008 under Football

In a scrimmage last Wednesday, they lost two offensive linemen on the same play. Both center Nick Paris and guard Kevin Miller were injured and are considered doubtful for the Texas game. Tackle John Rizzo was held out of their Saturday scrimmage because of sore ribs, but he is expected to play against Texas. "Body blow! Body blow!" Senior defensive end Robert St. Claire had knee surgery and will be out indefinitely. He

Howard Schnellenberger Gets a Bum Rap

Posted by TaylorTRoom on August 21st, 2008 under Football

I see a lot of posts poking fun at Schnelly for being a drinking man.  Is that really fair?  Where does this reputation come from?  I've pondered this issue, and despite Howard's current antics I have come to think that this is an unfair characterization.  First, let's review Schnelly's history.  He was recruited by Bear Bryant to Kentucky, and played for Blanton Collier (who would coach the Browns to an NFL championship) after Bryant split.
