Mack Brown Press Conference Open Thread

Posted by Vasherized on February 25th, 2010 under Football

Listen live here. Barrett Matthews will play some H Back and will see some action in two back sets. Admits the zone read didn't work great for Colt. Going to give Gilbert some different looks under center with different backfield alignments. Tray Allen will stay at LG (for now). CTJ was going to sacrifice a fifth ward orphan if he lined up at Tackle. Trey Graham still looking kosher at TE. Mason Walters, DJ Grant, Nolan Brewster,

Throwing red meat on a Tuesday

Posted by HenryJames on November 10th, 2009 under Football

Brown said yesterday that James Kirkendoll will get the start over Marquise Goodwin on Saturday. Why Kirkendoll? "On WR James Kirkendoll's re-emergence: I thought we probably worked James too much in preseason. Receivers run all the time in this heat. Jordan (Shipley) came out and didn't spend as much time out there. I'm not sure that James didn't hit a wall after Wyoming. He just got tired a little bit. We just need to get him some

The New Texas Longhorn Offense

Posted by Scipio Tex on October 20th, 2009 under Football

It's an odd thing when a 6-0 football team decides midseason before its two biggest road games to bench three offensive starters, modify its base set, demote 2/3 of the starting receiving corps, change the best WRs position, tacitly admit a failure of offensive philosophy,

New Texas Longhorns Depth Chart Out

Posted by Trips Right on October 19th, 2009 under Football

It looks like Goodwin has pulled even with John Chiles at sub b, and Mal Williams has supplanted James Kirkenheadbutt in the starting lineup. Encouraging to say the least. Our 4 wide is as it should be with Goodwin, Williams, Shipley and Buckner. For a team that needs playmakers on offense, this is your tonic. This is by far the most talented combo of pass catchers. Along the Oline, it's interesting that

Texas Longhorns Depth Chart: OU Version

Posted by HenryJames on October 13th, 2009 under Football

Not much new to report. John Chiles and Marquise Goodwin are listed as 'or' at the Sub B position. I'm not sure of the question, but I don't think the answer is 'either Chiles or Goodwin.' Malcolm Williams is third team and also second team flanker behind Shipley. He'll play a lot! Starting tailback will either be Fozzy Whitaker or Kenny Hayter Ivan Williams Cody Johnson. We can sure use Johnson's

Depth chart for Texas Longhorns vs. UTEP Miners

Posted by HenryJames on September 21st, 2009 under Football

Big changes! Tre Newton is now listed as the starter at running back. Duh. Curtis Brown is starting over Chykie Brown (no relation) at right corner. The 'or' has been removed. And we have three starters at right safety. Blake Gideon or Nolan Brewster or Kenny Vaccaro. Brewster was in for Gideon at the end of the game Saturday, and Vaccaro has been kicking ass both on and off the field.

Weekly ORg Chart – Wyoming

Posted by Huckleberry on September 8th, 2009 under Football

From MBTF.com I wish I'd saved a copy of the ULM version. David Snow is starting at right guard. No OR. Tray Allen is backing up LG and LT. 3rd string NT. Christian Scott is gone from the depth chart, but we know why. Our kickoff and punt returners will play rock-paper-scissors as necessary. Colt McCoy is still starting.

Thoughts on OU Depth Chart for BYU

Posted by Trips Right on August 31st, 2009 under Football

From a Sooner website. Sooner Sports Depth Chart Chris Brown starts over Demarco Murray and his hamstring. Brody Eldridge gets the start at center ahead of Ben Habern and his lower lumbar.   No word if Brody is the frontrunner for the Bob Stoops "Whistling past the graveyard award". Brian Simmons starts at LG ahead of Stephen Good and his rotator cuff. Jarvis Jones starts at RG.  Why waste a solid transfer and give up your competitive advantage? Ryan Reynolds starts ahead of Mike Balogun.  But if we

Texas OR Chart Released

Posted by Huckleberry on August 27th, 2009 under Football

I mean depth chart. Here it is. Some thoughts: We have five starting wide receivers. Flex TE is important enough to list, but not important enough to have a category heading. David Snow starts at two OL positions and backs up another. Christian Scott is an OR with Blake Gideon, but he's listed first. Christian Scott is returning kickoffs with Shipley. Garrett Gilbert is second team and is not an OR with Sherrod Harris.

Practices: Days Thirteen and Fourteen

Posted by HenryJames on August 23rd, 2009 under Football

Slim pickings for Friday's practice, but we do have some pics. Derek Johnson is huge. He looks like a 6'3" Casey Hampton. Saturday's scrimmage was better. At least a little bit. Pics. Applewhite is now wearing a visor as well. This ends now. Antwan Cobb tries to find a way around a prone Ahmard Howard. UT President William Powers might be wearing mom jeans. Christian Scott is a thoroughbred. And Adam Ulatoski is going all Phil Loadholt on Alex Okafor. Some
