2009 Texas A&M Football Preview: State of The Union

Posted by Scipio Tex on August 27th, 2009 under Football

Forward, March, Hut, Two, Three, Four!

Aggie football players are a lot like the Aggie Corps of Cadets. Some of them are the real thing and deserve your respect, but most play dress up for four years pretending to be something they’re not and end up selling insurance in Tomball. Witness the perfect illustration of my point. West Point. While A&M's football team struggled to a 21-17 victory against an Army team that lost by 18

2009 Iowa State Football Preview: State of the Union

Posted by Vasherized on August 25th, 2009 under Football

Perhaps a fitting sign of where things stand in Ames, Iowa with football season just two weeks away is the cover story at cyclonereport.com which features a recent commitment by some dude named Melvin Ejim – to the basketball team. CloneChronicles.com is all over this breaking story as well. In fact, every news outlet in Ames is devoting its full attention so they don't have to talk about the sad state of

Workout Warriors

Posted by Scipio Tex on July 27th, 2009 under Football

Bruce Feldman (the guy who wrote Meat Market) had a pretty cool article in ESPN The Magazine on Workout Warriors a while back. I missed it because I'm not part of ESPN The Magazine's readership as its target demographic appears to be eleven year old boys and those who think The Da Vinci Code had complex themes. Nonetheless, good article. Some of my favorites: USC Safety Taylor Mays: And perhaps the only things

Longhorn Linebacker Talent

Posted by Scipio Tex on July 23rd, 2009 under Football

Question: when was the last time that Longhorn LB talent was this good from top to bottom? You may be surprised at the answer. Let's look at the current crop... Sergio Kindle was 1st team All-Big 12 last year despite not having a clue what he was doing. Now he does. And we hired him a chauffeur. He'll be an All-American this year. 6-4

It’s Baaaaaack!

Sort of. Maybe. In other words, you might see the vaunted Wrecking Crew make a return to the gridiron this Fall. But nothing is guaranteed -- the Shermanator is just hoping it comes back. Here is Fightin’ Texas Aggies Head Men’s American Football Coach Mike Sherman, attempting to be optimistic and relevant, against all odds: The Wrecking Crew may or may not return this Fall. Luckily for the Aggies, this clip can't be embedded but here is

12th Man of the Day

Posted by Vasherized on July 2nd, 2009 under Uncategorized

In what I hope will become a re-occurring tribute to our drooling cousins in College Station, today we bring you BC's first honorary 12th Man of the Day, Judge Richard Posner. Idoit, I Am. Other than merely looking like an Aggie, The Poz has no affiliations to A&M other than thinking like one. Which makes his stacks of degrees from Yale, Harvard, Chicago, and a bunch of other smart learning institutions

Texas Leads NCAA in Revenue Production

Texas Burnt Orange continues to have a green tint to it as the Longhorns generated the most football revenue and total athletics revenue in 2007-08. Texas took in almost $73 million in football revenue during the 2007-08 school year, as well as a total of $120.3 million in total dollars. Texas was one of only three programs to produce athletics revenue over $100 million last school year. Ohio State

Damion James and the 2009 NBA Draft

Posted by Trips Right on April 9th, 2009 under Basketball

A quick perusal of the various mock drafts on the interwebs reveals a few interesting things about the Junior from Nacadoches draft prospects. First and foremost, no mockster has a clue about where James fits in with David Stern's Clown Carnival. First Round? Second Round? No Round? Sure there's a range out there of where Damion falls in the draft, but it's huge. Think Oprah without the lapband.

Attrition & The Texas Offense

Posted by CloseToJumping on January 10th, 2009 under Football

Talent acquisition and allocation is a subject near and dear to my heart, whether in sports, business, or American imperialistic intentions, 1898 to present. For whatever reason, this is also a subject that creates much wailing, teeth gnashing, and vagina rubbing among our online fanbase. I suppose it stems from this world where everyone gets a trophy and needs to be told how special they are before they get tucked in at night. Well and good,
