Zombie Coaches

Posted by TaylorTRoom on November 10th, 2009 under Football

No, not coaches like Chizik, that will devour your brain, but rather coaches that are like "zombie banks", that are dead (their schools want to fire them), but still moving (because their schools lack the buyout money to do so). I think that this is a new phenomena, because buyouts got so large in recent years. I think Dan Hawkins is a zombie coach. He and CU both know it's not going to work out. It would

Looking @ Colorado Buffaloes Football

Posted by Scipio Tex on October 8th, 2009 under Football

While we're all busy looking ahead to OU, musing about our basketball team like Topekans in February, and expressing wonder at how the football gods continue to ease our path to Dallas and Pasadena

Mack Brown compliments Cody Hawkins. I think.

Posted by HenryJames on October 6th, 2009 under Football

From yesterday's press conference. Yes, we actually had Cody here at our camp. He came down and spent time with us. I think Major was coaching him at that time when he was a graduate assistant. Cody is a lot like Colt. He is tough, he’s smart, he makes good decisions, and you’re not going to rattle him. Every time he gets knocked down, he jumps up before they get off

Dan Hawkins Seeks The Wisdom of Busey

Posted by Scipio Tex on September 16th, 2009 under Football

It's Boulder, Colorado. Dan Hawkins has locked himself in the master bathroom of his Iroquois longhouse where he sits despondent on his flawless tile. Not even his dog-eared Sun Tzu coloring book can cheer him.

So When Does Dan Hawkins Get Fired?

Posted by Trips Right on September 11th, 2009 under Football

I'm guessing sometime between now and next Saturday. As I type this the Buffs are down four touchdowns to the Toledo Rockets. A MAC team whose claim to fame revolves around a federal investigation for fixing games and point shaving. As a Texas fan, I can recognize what is going on with Colorado. I saw the same body language and effort combined with utter lack of talent when the Horns

Tracking Baylor, Foresight Wizardy, & Other Quickies

Posted by CloseToJumping on September 7th, 2009 under Football

The Briles Baylor Bears Bowl March Well, I promised a Baylor update every week, whether my prediction of 8-4 begins to look like an absurdity or not. I am always happy to eat crow and be mocked, as I gladly return that when I can. Well, today is more me mocking than anything, so imagine me typing this post with my bare ass pointed at your face,… unless you agreed with me. Baylor is now 1-0.

2009 Colorado Football Preview: State of the Union

Posted by HenryJames on August 28th, 2009 under Football

Buffaloed.

Dan Hawkins is a confident guy, but he’s not a patient guy. He wants to win now. The Colorado fanbase isn’t so much impatient as they are apathetic. If you don’t want the student body eating Nepalese food and listening to Ward Churchill speeches rather than watching football, you need to give them something to watch. "There's a what game?" I think Hawkins suffers from the same recruiting errors that did in Dennis

Texas/CU Football Post-Mortem

Posted by Scipio Tex on October 6th, 2008 under Football

Hawk Kwan Do is No Can Do. I predicted a 31-13 Longhorn victory and certainly thought we'd cover, but I didn't expect our scrubs to be in the game with 10:00 left in the 4th quarter. Beautiful Boulder Note to Colorado opponents: please never schedule Colorado on Free Cast Iron Paperweight Night. Or Free Shuriken Night. Or Free Hunk Of Uranium Night. Fortunately for us, it

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly – Colorado

Posted by EyesOfTX on October 5th, 2008 under Football

The season started for real last night after four games that felt like an NFL pre-season.  This was true not just for the good guys (that would be the Texas Longhorns) but for the entire Big 12 Football Conference. The results of the games were no surprise at all.  The only thing that came close was the score of the Kansas/Iowa State game, in which Iowa State held a 20-0 halftime lead. This is a conference in
Darrell Scott was the biggest recruiting story Texas fans followed for many, many years. It came down to the last week of the recruiting season which is, by far, the exception and not the rule for past 10 years. Scott was not just a 5-star recruit, but a top 5 national recruit. And he was from California, which makes him different to recruiting junkies. I am guilty as charged. Five stars
