Barking Bets: Week 4

Posted by Trips Right on September 24th, 2009 under Football

I continue to fall farther and farther below the Mendoza line of betting (55%) and it's starting to get to me. After watching the Kentucky Wildcats choke away a cover and suffering two kick returns for TD's against me in different games during my gambling day, I proceeded to make my way to DKR Stadium from my tailgate local, stumbling drunk and hell bent on chasing my losses. Cell phone in hand and

A Look at BCS Non-Conference Results

With all the talk of "style points" and strength of schedule being bandied about this week, and with the bowl season about to be unleashed, there no doubt will be more talk about the relative strengths of the BCS conferences. Before the bowl matchups between leagues get started, here are some basics                                                   Overall                            BCS Opponents Conference                                 W-L                                           W-L Big 12                                        38-10     79%                               7-8    47% ACC                                           37-11     77%                             15-8    65% SEC                                           37-11     77%                               6-9    40% Big 10                                        32-12     73%                               6-7     46% Big East                                     28-12     70%                              9-7     56% Pac 10                                       14-17     45%                               6-8    43% Yes,

Butch Davis Will Not Volunteer For Tennessee Job

Posted by srr50 on November 12th, 2008 under

North Carolina football coach Butch Davis was at the top of most Tennessee fans wish list to replace Phil Fulmer. But Davis apparently is telling Tennessee thanks, but no thanks. The Volunteers are 3-7 this year with two games left, at Vandy and Kentucky at home. Tennessee has never lost 8 games in a season. They also currently hold a 23-game winning streak against Kentucky, the longest active streak in a rivalry in D-1 football.

Barking Bets Week 10

Went a modest 2-2 last week but lost my 2 unit play. The Great Pumpkin needs to be fired for the effort Tennessee put forth. Goodness I hate Phil Fulmer. My lord. The wins, however, were routine with Mizzou and Oregon routs. The tOSU game looked to be in the bag for a nice 3-1 day until Pryor fumbled in plus territory when a field goal ensures the cover.

Plenty of other names for Clemson

Posted by BRAGGonUT on October 14th, 2008 under Football

Now that Tommy Bowden has been fired mutually agreed to step down at Clemson, we can look at potential candidates. Muschamp's name will surface for every job, but I don't think this is the one. While traveling the internet, I found these guys as potentials (in my order of likelihood): Lane Kiffin - the first name in the hopper with Muschamp; he could start now and the AD has ties

MGoBlog's Brian Cook has masterminded a scheme so clever that its best expression could only occur in the Oxbridge accent of a Bond villain. However, instead of threatening you with piranha nipple clamps and a plot to take over world financial markets (too late), MGoBlog brings together whoever is available the elites of the blogosphere and intermingles their rankings like polygamist's children in the weekly Top 25 beauty contest known as

USC and Alabama

These were the two most impressive teams I watched yesterday. I'm not saying they're the two best teams in the country, but they both looked great. The biggest difference between the Trojan teams of the last two years and this year's team is quarterback play. Pete Carroll: "Mark (Sanchez) is resourceful in the pocket. That's an exciting aspect of our offense that I felt like we didn't have the last couple of years. I think we

Just before Signing Day, we talked here about the Recruiting Rankings analysis that SMQ performed and he concluded how accurately Rivals was predicting winning percentages. "Rivals was very, very good at picking the top teams – of the top 25 winningest teams of the last six years, all were either pegged in or very near their respective positions by the recruiting rankings or achieved them by winning against overwhelmingly lower-ranked opposition; of the
