2009-2010 Bracketology

Posted by Trips Right on April 13th, 2009 under Basketball

Joe Lunardi has us as a 5 seed. Perhaps Joe should have his intern give Andy Katz's intern a call. Katz daddy has Texas as preseason number 4. He also has better hair and a winning smile. Lunardi is a pedantic asshat for seeding Texas lower than an Oklahoma club that is losing Austin Johnson, The Big Pharma Brothers, and now possibly Willie Warren. We know him here at the

UNC National Champions? Thank Dexter Pittman

Posted by Trips Right on April 7th, 2009 under Basketball

According to the douchebags north of the Red River. Apparently, Sexy Dexy slapped the game out of Blake Griffin and set the basketball world on its collective ear by not allowing the Sooners their rightful place as a one seed. F'ng Dexter Pittman and his dexterous pimp slaps that were stealthily delivered beyond the watchful eyes of cameras, officials, and fans alike. Only the cross-dressing Griffin and his ghoulish mother truly

Umm, Yes, Carolina is real good

Posted by Trips Right on April 6th, 2009 under Basketball

As I type this, UNC is up 21 on MSU at the half. They've scored a Championship record 55 points in the first stanza, and I suspect it'll likely be a similar result in the 2nd. UNC comes at you with waves of athletes...wings, post men, and lock down guards, but make no mistake, this team is Ty Lawson's ball club, and once they shed the ESPN Tyler Hansbrough fellation and simply let

Tiger Woods > Blake Griffin & Tyler Hansborough

Posted by srr50 on March 30th, 2009 under Uncategorized

Tiger Woods captured his first PGA event Sunday in almost nine months after recovering from knee surgery. And it was CBS and the NCAA Elite Eight that took a hit to the ratings kneecap as a result. Woods dramatic birdie on the last hole sealed the win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and it also helped CBS record a double digit ratings drop in its featured Elite Eight contest. The anticipated showdown between OU's Blake Griffin

Texas Basketball vs. Duke Post Mortem

Posted by Trips Right on March 22nd, 2009 under Basketball

Wow. What can I say? This one hurts. I woke up this morning feeling like Aminu Timberlake's sternum or Tyler Hansbrough's shattered zygomatic arch. I woke up feeling cheap shotted as I'm sure a lot of folks did including the Texas coaches and players. So, the masochist that I am, I rewind the tape this morning and rewatch the traveshmockery that's sure to follow. This is what happened, Larry... Dexter

Duke Preview

Posted by Trips Right on March 20th, 2009 under Basketball

For the better part of four months we've lamented the fact that Texas is a horrendous shooting basketball team. We've got athletes, rebounders, difference makers on the block, and defensive specialists. Obviously, the Horns do a lot of things well, but shooting is not one of them. The whole of the Big 12 conference minus Bill Self for a half, knows our shortcomings stroking the rock as well, and they were able

NCAA Tournament Regional Ramblings: The West

Posted by Trips Right on March 18th, 2009 under Basketball

My two year old came up yesterday and in his broken English/Mork from Ork dialect he asked me why his two older brothers beat up on him. After careful fatherly consideration I replied, "Because they can, son." Tyreke Evans is a big brother. And that about sums up the West Region. Paternal pearls of wisdom not withstanding. The two big brothers in this region, in my book, should be seeded 1A

NCAA Tournament Regional Ramblings: The Midwest

Posted by Trips Right on March 18th, 2009 under Basketball

A glance out to flyover territory reveals a bracket that's probably the most balanced of the four regions. The committee says otherwise, but I think the Louisville Cardinals are the weakest number 1 seed. But I get what the committe did here. The 'Ville, like, won their conference and conference tourney and shit. Cool. Reward them. But for some reason they drew the toughest 4 seed and the toughest

NCAA Tournament Regional Ramblings: The South

Posted by Trips Right on March 18th, 2009 under Basketball

Taking our canine carnival to the South to do some old fashioned whoofing. Pending plantar fasciitis issues this should be a cake walk for the Heels into the regional final. If Lawson can't go in the second round or beyond, the top side is up for grabs. But assuming he plays, the weakness in this part of the South is apparent. Illinois is the weakest 5 and Gonzaga is arguably
