Texas-Rice Football Post-Mortem 2010: Offense

The offensive game plan was to protect Garrett Gilbert - mentally and physically - work the running game, even if meant being stubborn, and prep our offense for a mindset which will attempt to shorten games, limit turnovers, and win ugly in big games.

Texas-Rice Football Post-Mortem 2010: Defense & Special Teams

Posted by Scipio Tex on September 5th, 2010 under Football

The game wasn't as close as the final score suggested and it should have been a 41-6 type of win, but we demonstrated a facility for shooting ourselves in the foot. And then hacking that foot off and sending it to ourselves with a ransom note.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly – Texas 34, Rice 17

Posted by EyesOfTX on September 5th, 2010 under Football

I guess I should get this out of the way up front: YES, I KNOW IT WAS JUST RICE YES, I KNOW WE RAN A VANILLA GAME PLAN ON OFFENSE YES, I KNOW THE COACHES DECIDED TO TREAT THE GAME AS A GLORIFIED SCRIMMAGE IN ORDER TO WORK ON THE RUN GAME YES, YES, YES, I KNOW ALL THOSE THINGS Given all of that, I'm discouraged by what we saw from the Longhorns yesterday, and you should be as well.

Initial thoughts on the Rice win

I didn't watch the game live because I'm a bad fan and I refuse to go to Houston on general principle, and then my dvr failed to record the game so I didn't get to break it down any. f grande.

If we can stop Tommy Kramer, we may have a chance.... Announcement: We will have a quick halftime podcast to wrap up the first 30 of action and set the table for the second half slaughter. It could prove to be the worst effort at live internet radio in the history of mankind and you should probably tune in on that basis. Listen:

Podcast #1: The One Where Scipio and Sailor Drone On and On…

Posted by Sailor Ripley on September 3rd, 2010 under Football

Today marks another milestone in the Borg-like takeover of all media forms by the Barking Carnival and its FanTake mothership. Somebody gave Scipio and I fancy microphones and Skype accounts. We then proceeded to abuse them and possibly inflict all manner of aural torture on our listeners. Not oral torture, HenryJames, aural. It's different. I think. Anyway, give us a listen and let us know what you think. Unless you didn't like it in which

My pick for most improved Longhorn

Posted by HenryJames on September 3rd, 2010 under Football

Lately I've been thinking about which player is going to improve the most from last season. My first instinct is to look to the defense where every dude we have on that side of the ball will improve. But that's too easy. I don't want to pick someone who goes from good to very good or from very good to great. I want someone who goes from Vasherized to very good or even great. So

Occam’s Muschamp

Posted by Nickel Rover on September 3rd, 2010 under Football

Taylor Bible was expected to be a dynamite 3-tech for Texas when he signed as a part of the 2010 freshman class. He very well may still be a dynamite 3-tech prospect, provided his conditioning picks up, but it's more likely he produces value at nosetackle. All the same I wonder if Muschamp made up his mind to upgrade Plan B into the new modus operandi when this new development unfolded. Bill
