NCAA Tournament Open Thread: Weekend Edition

Posted by Patrick Bateman on March 20th, 2010 under Basketball

Update:  Kansas, the #1 seed, goes down in flames vs. 4 balding, white guys.  Karma?  Discuss. Villanova goes down.  Not really a surprise there if you've been watching them lately.  Do we still want to get JayWright on the line? Tennessee cruises, Butler survives, Baylor goes on to the Sweet Sixteen. Cuse' dominates the Zags.

Texas Turns the Page

Well, WTF was that?  A train wreck is what.  That’s how the entire Texas basketball season can be described.

Bush Paves the Way for Henderson?

Posted by Patrick Bateman on March 15th, 2010 under Football

Are we really surprised?  Today, reports are swirling that Seantrel Henderson, a five star recruit, the #2 overall recruit by Rivals, and future knight of the roundtable, will finally make it official in the coming weeks and actually sign his LOI with everyone's favorite left coast juggernaut, USC.  Why is this relevant?  He was expected to sign there.  Well, for two reasons: 1.  This may be an indication of the paddy cake that the

Texas Offers Florida OL!

Posted by Patrick Bateman on March 2nd, 2010 under Football

Update:  Max Lang, besides being slower than Shaun Rogers going to a yoga class, also is hard of hearing.  Texas did offer......it was just followed by a Tech! Apparently, we offered Max Lang from the Orlando, Florida area.  He claims we called him pretty much out of the blue and offered.  Other offers per Rivals are FSU, FIU, South Carolina, South Florida, and UCF.  Some should be happy he's not an in-state kid. 6'4", 276 lbs.

Combine Sunday Open Thread

Posted by Patrick Bateman on February 28th, 2010 under Football

Big Day for the QBs, WRs, and RBs. Colt, Snead, Shipley, and Jesus run. Doesn't start well.  Colt runs a 4.77 unofficial in his first attempt. Snead runs a 5.01 unofficial.  Still 2nd best to Colt.  Why were we running the zone read with these guys? Jesus runs 4.70.  Not bad, not great. Lefevour runs a 4.63. Colt runs a 4.81 in his 2nd attempt, unofficial.  He looked awful.  Ran too high especially out of the blocks.  Just didn't look like

What’s the Point, Rick?

Posted by Patrick Bateman on February 20th, 2010 under Basketball

Who’s on first?  Or rather, who’ll play the 1?  For a team struggling to find a floor leader and a coach often criticized for being more offensively challenged than Greg Davis on Luminal, losing your only true point guard is not necessarily a remedy for a late push in March. Down goes Dogus!  Down goes Dogus!  Down goes Dogus! Dogus Balbay has gone down and he’s gone down hard, having his knee buckle on

Durantula Descends on Dallas

Posted by Patrick Bateman on February 13th, 2010 under Basketball

The All Star game is on Sunday, and K-Smoove is taking his rightful place amongst the NBA’s elite. What should be the first of many All Star trips will take place in Dallas in a sort of homecoming to the state where Durant’s star began its shine for most of the nation. Durant comes in second in the league in scoring, .2 points per game behind his Highness himself. He comes in having scored

The Great Freshman Debate: Jordan vs. J’Covan

Posted by Patrick Bateman on February 10th, 2010 under Basketball

Quick Editor's note: This was written prior to the Kansas game. - S.R. ____________________________ Halfway through Big 12 conference play, I think most Texas fans would have to describe this year’s squad as –frustrating. Okay, there are a few more strongly worded descriptions that we could use, but it’s not after 11 pm and children could be reading (yea, right.). While, there are a multitude of reasons offered up for our recent funk, I thought we might look
