    and puzzling.

  11. Trying hard to build confidence in J’ Covan and Hamilton by getting them in early. IMO.

  12. I don’t feel like we’re improving. Our team’s intensity matches our fans.

  13. Looks like Rick called Coach K. We’ve gone to the small lineup.

Mason’s getting his one game in double figures for the year.

  17. Did we throw a skip pass? Did sizzlechest have leafy vegetables for dinner?

  18. Justin Mason earning more minutes…crap.

  19. Five guys in the paint vs. Pittman. Stupid lineup Rick. But keeping pounding your head against the wall.

  20. I’m not one for hyperbole, but Justin Mason is the best player in college basketball.

  24. She is a bundle of awesomeness. Thanks art.

    Great defensive adjustments this week.

  51. I love that set. Use the dude who’s built like a left tackle to free up your best player. Nice.

  52. I miss defense from our team. We’re pathetic right now.

  53. CrazyJoeDavola66 said:

Surely Tech won’t continue to go 67% from 3 in the second half?

Glad to see us shore things up on D after getting embarrassed on Sunday.

  54. Our defense isn’t great, but Tech’s on fire. They won’t hit 9 threes in the second half even if they’re wide ass open.

  55. CrazyJoeDavola66 said:

Anyone else see the crawl announce that Tebow has strep? Amazing.

  57. I don’t recall Tech making a single contested shot and they have 50 points. I’ll be the first to admit that most know more about basketball than me here, but I’d say that’s pretty embarrassing defensively. Tech also only has 3 turnovers.

  58. Diego, true. We’re stinking it up on defense.

  59. And sorry, I’m not calling you wrong or anything. I’m just frustrated.

  60. Patrick Bateman said:

    January 27th, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Tech has hit some contested jump shots including some deep threes, but our defense especially against dribble drive penetration has been god awful. They’ll slow down from the outside (I hope) but they’re getting to the rim a little too easily….I like that we’ve decide zone defense is a concept that our guys can handle, but I don’t know if Tech is the team to pull it out against. It’s two games too late. KSU couldn’t hit anything from outside but we still continued to overplay them and allow driving lanes. A tad frustrating…

  61. Why are you sorry? You’re right. We are sucking on defense. I was just offering some solace by stating Tech can’t keep shooting like this forever.

  62. Looks like Texas may be trying out a less aggressive perimeter defense strategy, but they are having trouble figuring out how to go about it without just flat out not guarding people.

  63. Patrick Bateman said:

    January 27th, 2010 at 8:07 pm

  73. Foul shooting, imo

  74. The ease with which Tech can get to the rim against or “defense” is uphauling.

  75. Its the way we guard off the ball.

  76. They get open off of every little down screen

  77. Brown gets beat because he turns his back to the ball.

  96. I really need Jackson Jeffcoat to stop this mental funk our sports teams are in

  97. Agree on Hamilton and Brown, but I don’t think we’re putting pittman in a position he can succeed.

  98. Fortunately, our depth is finally wearing them down. But they’ve made us look sick most of the night. The regression we’ve seen in the last month is discouraging, but not unprecedented.

  99. Bartoncreek said:

    January 27th, 2010 at 8:41 pm

We should make it a rule that Damion has to touch the ball at least once every possession. Every time we go on bad runs, he never touches it.

  100. It didn;t result in the bucket, but our block to block cross screen from Pittman to James is a weapon. It reminds of the psuedo counter we ran in footballs vs. OSU the week before getting waxed by ou.

  107. I just saw some real hot pictures of Connie Nielsen nude. Was she in Playboy or do Danish Girls get hot nude spreads like all european girls?

  108. This may be our core five going forward. Brown and Hamilton just aren’t having the light come on for them.

  109. The kid’s probably hurt, but it’s nothing physical.

  110. Nice dunk, Okorie. Dude belongs in a Midlothian vs Red Oak Pre-Game Warm-up session… so gay…

  132. I thought J’covan was going to throw his jersey up in the stands after that layup

  135. Bartoncreek said:

    January 27th, 2010 at 9:04 pm

If Brown just looked like he gave a shit about protecting the ball, I’d cut him some slack. He doesn’t get it. We need a dominant performance from DJ to put away Tech at home? We kind of suck.

  136. CrazyJoeDavola66 said:

We shot 37-67 from the field for 55.2%.

We shot 16-29 from the free-throw line for … 55.2%

  137. The problem with Mason is that if he starts to get more active offensively, then we might drop to being a 40% FT shooting team.

  138. Patrick Bateman said:

    January 27th, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Tech had 23 rebounds? That’s it? Glad we got the W and we did some good things in the game but I’m still a little concerned about our offside D and allowing to much dribble penetration. Tech was beat up and we were at home. We should roll them by double digits…

  139. Bartoncreek said:

    January 27th, 2010 at 9:11 pm

We just traded AJ Abrams for Avery Bradley in the offseason. Otherwise, same half ass team as last year. Depressing, but I’m happy for Mason tonight. I’ve always appreciated him even though it’s been very ugly for two years.

My expectations for this team have plummeted. Maybe low expectations will be good for them.

  140. Patrick Bateman said:

    January 27th, 2010 at 9:18 pm

Great game for Mason and it was great to see. Hopefully he can build upon this, although I do think it’s important to remember that Tech is a very small team and Mason didn’t have a height mismatch like he normally does. I still think he’d be a better fit coming off the bench. It would break up the Dogus/Mason non perimeter threat we start with and also give us a better veteran and calming influence with the second unit, especially on the road. Although he had a terrible game tonight, I may want to experiment with starting Jordan to see what it does to his game and confidence. He may not feel so rushed as far as jacking up shots…..

  141. I may be in a similar place Barton. We need or needed Hamilton or Brown to step up like Wall or Bledsoe did for UK. They didn’t.

  142. “If I’m barnes I give them rest”

I agree with this. Avery looks tired.

    “Tech had 23 rebounds? ”

I believe we really needed to face a team that we could just wake up and outrebound by 20.

Good 2nd half by the good guys. I’ll take Mason’s performance as a positive sign for the future.

    Jackson Jeffcoat, come on down.

  143. Tech is committed to that motion offense and they run it really well. Knight did a good job of getting his players to spread and then attack the middle. They gave up size but ran our bigs to death with those curl cuts and ball screens.

Tech wore down, hit 45% of their shots (they hit 44% for the year), and you could really tell it on defense. MIke Singletary had 15 points in the first half, but we made him play on the defensive end in the second half, and he only had 5 points.

Justin had 18 points, 5 assists and no turnovers — it was a helluva effort.

  144. Great game by Mason. The announcer said Barnes told Mason he had to shoot more if he wanted to play. Really nice postup move where Mason faked to his left and then spun back to his right to hit a left handed hook shot. It was so great to see the old (young?) Mason back, maybe the Barnes mind freak is reversible.

  145. If nothing else, just the mere threat of Mason and Balbay shooting will help us down the road. We don’t need them to combine for 30+ points every game.
