Tip off at 3 p.m. CST televised on FSSW.
Got a pot of venison and elk chili simmering and a 4 pack of Guinness pub draught already talking to me.
My manlove for John Wall is approaching unhealthy territory as he diced up Indiana TJ Ford style, finishing with 11 pts / 8 dimes / 6 reb. When he’s not going off for 25 points he’s making sure his teammates do. A one point halftime lead turned into a 20 pt boat race with minimal effort.
La Salle is hanging with Kansas early on and faring well in the paint. The Jayhawks look bored.
The Bobcats (3-6) haven’t beaten the Longhorns since a 33-31 win in Austin on Dec. 7, 1937. The streak ends NOW! Actually, the Bobcats might not surpass that 33 point effort and I feel comfortable predicting Texas will. Look for the freshman to get a lot of minutes as the prep for UNC/MSU continues. One of these guys is due to go off and I’m going with Hamilton.
Any other predictions?

Looks like Kansas woke up. 42-27 at half.
U Dub and G Town are playing a tight game. Huskies PG Quincy Poindexter is a homeless man’s John Wall.

Pondexter is a hybrid forward, Vasherized. Which is ironic because basically every other one of Washington’s notable players is a guard that would fulfill that statement :) Are you thinking of Isaiah Thomas?

Blake,
Don’t pigeonhole a unique talent like Quincy Poindexter into stereotypes like hybrid forward. His momma told him he can be anything he wants to be.
So I’m going with point guard, like everyone else on the team.

Shawn and Mason switching minutes sounds about right to me. Everything else is coming together. Bradley is like an assassin. He’s the perfect guy to run off all the Abrams screens because he doesn’t feel compelled to shoot when he’s not open and hardly ever misses a shot after he warms up, plus nobody seems to feel obligated to guard him.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one, re: John Wall. I’ve been telling everyone I know who is even a moderate basketball fan to watch Wall’s games.
Part of me really wants us to match up against Kentucky because I think it would be such a fun game. Watching Avery D up on Wall would be perhaps the most interesting thing college basketball could offer up this year.
And part of me doesn’t know if we’d win.
But then another part of me thinks the track meet that would ensue would be worth it either way. I’m really not certain Kentucky wants to try to run with us, Wall or no Wall.
Anyway, Wall is the truth. He is the triple truth, Ruth.
December 12th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Balbay would be the primary defender on Wall, though you’d see Bradley on switch offs and when Doge is out of the game.

I was at the game and now I know who Brown resembles most. That motherfucker is a right handed van exel. Seriously, next time you watch him get that in your head when watching him. its dead on.
Bartoncreek said:
December 12th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
I like the Van Exel comparison. I always thought he was a much better scorer off the dribble than a shooter. I’m thinking the same about Brown.
Those guys saying Hamilton was nothing more than a spot up shooter are looking kind of foolish. He sees the court better than anyone on our team and is starting to show an array of moves as he gets more comfortable. Hell, the one thing he didn’t do well today was shoot. I am a lot more comfortable with the ball in his hands than I am with it in Brown’s or Mason’s. I am a little surprised with his weakside rebounding ability. There is nothing this kid can’t do on a basketball court. Just a matter of time with him.
Bradley is also starting to resemble the player I saw last year. I do love his game. I hope he continues to get his confidence up to where it should be. At some point he is going to have to realize that he is just better than almost anyone on the court.

Jordan led the team in assists with 4, with 0 turnovers. He also has 7 rebounds. He only hit 1 of 6 3 point shots but hit half of his 10 2 point attempts. He will probably benefit from a year working with Todd Wright (should help his speed and jumping).
kafka said:
December 12th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
If Jcovan is out for the next game, presumably Mason goes to guard and Jordan and Shawn split the minutes at small forward.
Vasherized said:
December 12th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Jordan only took two dumb 3’s. Most were good looks that were near misses.
Easily could have been a 20 pt game. Bradley was in the groove and needs to be more demanding of the ball when he’s feeling it.
kafka said:
December 13th, 2009 at 9:26 am
Two areas where Bradley needs to improve are free throw shooting (hitting < 50%) and rebounding (1.1 per game). He is 7 for 16 from 3 point land so it is surprising that he is not hitting more of his free throws. For comparison to other horn guards, Brown averages 2.8 rebounds/game and Balbay averages 4.3 reounds/game.
