blogpoll – Draft – Week 12

Posted by Scipio Tex on November 22nd, 2009 under Football

1. Texas – Paste KU 51-20. Quick turnaround in College Station.
2. Florida – A ritual slaughter of helpless Florida International.
3. Alabama – Pummel poor Chattannooga. Iron Bowl looms.
4. TCU – Take care of business in Laramie. BCS bound.
5. Cincinnati – Bye.
6. Georgia Tech- Bye.
7. Pittsburgh – Bye.
8. Boise State – Beat another scrub. Nevada game might be interesting, but it’s in Boise.
9. Oregon – They get it done in 2OT in Tucson. Showdown w/ Oregon State coming.
10. Ohio State – Really hard to watch this team play football. Beat Michigan 21-10.
11. Oklahoma State – 3rd string QB comes through – can they win in Norman?
12. Iowa – Pitch a shutout in impossibly boring Big 10.
13. Virginia Tech – Whip hapless NC State.
14. Oregon State – Play the Ducks for the title. Most underrated Pure Hate Rivalry in CFB.
15. Miami – Skate by Duke after unfocused first half.
16. Penn State – Another Big 10 exercise in boredom.
17. Clemson – Not that impressive in win over hapless UVA.
18. Nebraska – Next up: CU. Then, Texas. Good luck, Zac Lee.
19. North Carolina – Take care of solid Boston College team.
20. Ole Miss – The Nutt-Miles MENSA summit was a classic.
21. LSU- Miles was absolutely bewildered at the end of the game. Outrageous clock management.
22. Houston – Poor Memphis. How could they be good in football? It’s a 2nd rate urban commuter school with no fans and…hey, wait.
23. Texas Tech – When they involve Baron Batch, good things happen.
24. California – Cal is the West Coast football equivalent of Ole Miss. Wilt under pressure; revive when they’re underdogs.
25. Stanford – Gerhart has 4 TDs but Luck blows the game.

  1. Can Ok State win in Norman? I think that’s completely up to OU.

I think OU’s going to win. But if they really have given up on the season…

  2. What’s the logic behind Nebraska being ranked higher than Texas Tech?

    Scip,

Miles might be the biggest buffoon in college football. His low percentage pooch/onside kick after being fortunate to be up 17-9 was horrendous and his clock management in the last minute was laugable including his thinking that he could somehow get 2 plays off in one second. College football needs these kinds of whipping boys. Pure entertainment.

  4. I’m surprised Tech isn’t # 1 now that they have a DE back.

Groundhog – There is some good Lester Miles video over in the Forum.

Thanks, duke. Fascinating press conference. Watched that whole game and beside the circus act that is Les Miles, LSU still can’t figure out how to use their playmakers (Holiday, LaFell, Tolliver, Shepard, etc.) Thank goodness for the mad hatter.

  6. “I’m surprised Tech isn’t # 1 now that they have a DE back.”

Funny you mentioned that, Brandon Sharpe is leading the Big 12 in sacks(in conference play) and is 2nd in the Nation in sacks. Of the 4 losses Tech has Brandon Sharpe only got to play in 1 game(OSU), he missed the UT/UofH/A&M games.

  7. So he may have affected the outcome of the UofH game maybe.

  8. The Tech game was never in doubt, like, not once did I pause, but Tim is sure as hell going to intimate that it was. If only that one player were back, they would have had us on the ropes. We would probably be undefeated if we had any TEs we could trust, so it’s even.

I like Auburn, Oregon State, and Nevada for the upsets this weekend. Okies too, I guess. U^&$RYG%^RU

What’s the logic behind aggy skull-fucking you in Lubbock?

  10. Scipio hates Brandon Sharpe.

Nebraska would not get their collective anus caved in by A&M at home. That is why they are ranked higher than Tech, Tim.

  12. Last I checked Nebraska has a better record than Tech…

Wow, louisville as a 9 will give Duke all they want in the second round.

The TAMU vs. UTAH state battle of the aggies might be played in the 40’s.

Siena will beat Purdue. Bank it. They probably win their next game.

Nova as a one seed an overseed.

Don’t listen to Seth Davis, Texas is a shell and Wisconsin is over seeded as a four. Kentucky will run them out of he gym. Kentucky walks to elite 8 where WVU will have something for them.

In the West, Syracuse has a walk to the sweet sixteen, but Butler can give them problems.

Syracuse gets KSU as their two so it looks like either Kentucky or Duke is stuck with WVU. Tough break. Pitt as a three is a joke. If I’m Self I’m really pissed now. KU

    The AP captions reads

Cayuga’s Traylon Shead, a Texas recruit, flashes the ‘Hook ‘Em Horns’ sign to Gov. Rick Perry during the awards presentation after Cayuga beat Bronte 66-60 to win the Class A, Division 1 basketball championship. Perry went to Texas A&M.

Midwest 1 goes to Kansas, no surprise they deserve it. They’ll face Lehigh who happens to have a pretty athletic frontcourt for a 16.

Kansas got a tough breaking drawing Maryland on the four line. There was talk the terps could be a 3.

For my money the race for Player of the Year isn’t all that close. Sorry John Wall. My apologies Wes Johnson. Evan Turner is the most dynamic and talented player in the college game today. He’s built like a hybrid wing, handles like point guard, and shoots it like a sniper.

    Ripley,

Agreed 100%. I meant only to observe that Metoyer wasn’t a guy like Stills (once recorded running a 4.36) who just really impresses you with his speed, too. That’s one of the reasons I think Stills ends up being the 4th WR in the rotation by conference play.

Neon, you might be right about Kentucky, but I’m still worried about their athleticism and I’m not sure K-State has anyone to match up with Cousins inside. Plus, it’s KSU’s offense that has been struggling lately, so I would be afraid of getting into a high-scoring game, even if Kentucky isn’t great defensively. As for

Well I won’t disagree that Syracuse plays a better zone than Baylor but I think the strengths of the Texas offense still give them some good answers for a zone. Syracuse invites teams to get the ball inside where James and Johnson are comfortable even if they are contesting it much better from there than
