Well hell yeah he needs to be in the Hall of Honor. He’s been gone 11 years now. James Brown went in today and he left one year before Ricky.

After years 3-5, I thought there was no way he wouldn’t average close to 1300 a season. If his body had held up, I think he’d be knocking on 20k yards by the time he retired.

In an article on his new contract earlier this year, Parcells made sure it was known that Williams is a “Parcells guy”, i.e. a player that Parcells trusts to play the way he wants.

If he comes back another couple of years, he could have a shot at the HOF. He’ll surpass 15,000 total yards from scrimmage with two decent years. (He’s at 12.7k now). 66 TDs, Not sure how that compares but he may make the pro-bowl this year with Brown out. Two more real good years could get him to 100 TDs, which I think gets him in on that alone.

The last 3 guys in were
Thurman Thomas, 16.5k yards, 88 TDs
Barry Sanders, – 18K yards, 109 TDs
and Marcus Allen – 17.5k yards, 144 TDs, but in more way seasons.

So 15+k yards plus 100 TDs gets you in the mix. Very comparable to Clinton Portis, who many consider a marginal HOFer at this point. Edge’s career is over at 15.5 and 91.

Marshall Faulk has about 18k/136 tds
Jerome Bettis about 15k/94 tds

I think both of those guys make it.
