Okung shut down Von Miller completely. I know that’s not the same as holding Orakpo or Kindle in check, but it’s still pretty good.
I don’t see any way (aside from injuries) that Shipley doesn’t turn into a productive NFL WR–and by productive I mean a guy that has a role in an offense. I don’t expect him to be a #1 guy and maybe not even a #2, but the Stokley comparison is a decent one, except that Shipley might be faster.
Surprised they didn’t rate Travis Lewis or Dom Franks. 0U players will have no incentive to come back if they have any chance to go in the first two rounds, when you combine the coming rookie salary scale and the disasters that were the returns of Bradford and Gresham.

I like Zierlein. He is more of a radio personality than journalist. He’s firmly behind Charlie Palillio in terms of the top radio guys in the market, but the gap behind Zierlein to the next guy is pretty big. Palillo is as good as anyone in any market and I am thankful he has chosen to stay in Houston. He’s just really, really good and he has no stake in any school locally, being from Syracuse.
Lance Zierlein has the unfortunate role of being lumped next to his buddy and resident village idiot John Granato on their morning show. Granato is probably one of the dumbest human beings I have ever heard speak on a regular basis and he’s paid to do it. He led the set up of their new radio station, so their must be something to him. I have listened to these guys for 10+ plus years and he’s never gotten any smarter, so it’s a headscratcher. A few weeks ago he claimed that Dez Bryant was being railroaded by the NCAA so Texas wouldn’t have to face him. His speaking style can make ears bleed, too. Anyway, LZ makes it worth listening to on occasion and he is pretty in tune with what is happening with the NFL.
All of that considered, all of this stuff is just spitballing at this point. Murray is a poor man’s Shon Mitchell. I see nothing to value there. The guy questioning Bradford’s arm is just fucking dumb. That is being contrarian to be contrarian.
I will laugh my ass off if someone selects Trent Williams in the first round.

If Bradford can stay healthy in the NFL, he’ll post some big numbers. Huge arm and great touch on intermediate and deep balls and his Indian bloodlines should help in sniffing out blind side DEs.
Pettigrew is coming on in Detroit and Gresham should have an instant impact for whoever drafts him as well. The era of the sasquatch TE’s in the Big 12 is thankfully over.

He says in the comments Muckelroy’s stock has fallen a little since his soph. year when everyone was so high on him as a player. I’m hearing 4th or later now. I updated with Shipley info while Houston is a talented player who one scout labels as ‘not as tough as I had hoped.’
I can’t see any way Muck is graded lower now than he was as a sophomore, and looks like Houston is still dealing with the ‘Texas players are soft’ groupthink.

Muck is ranked at #54 overall by the WWL. They actually had him in the first round a month or two ago. Houston won’t make it out of the third round – he’s just too solid of a player. After scouts do their due diligence on Sergio and see that he’s coachable and his motor never stops, he’ll move up on a lot of boards.
Glad to see Zierlein found work after 90210..

Okung is the best OL to come out of the Big 12 in years. McCoy will go mid 2nd at the latest and he should send Drew Brees a thank you card for that.
I’m not so sure Ulatoski gets drafted but Houston and Muck probably will. That is saying something about our program right there as Uly has prototype NFL tackle size . The tape will show very poorly on him, but I guess someone may take him thinking they can coach him out of his bad habits. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised to see E. Jones on an NFL team next year. The scouts are going to like what they see when they watch tape of our defense. Offense….not so much.

Didn’t some idiot on ESPN have Ulatoski as an early 1st round pick before the season started? I think it was McShay.
I can understand the Bradford complaints. There are very legitimate concerns about his ability to run an offense that isn’t completely stacked around him. His arm is not “huge”, especially not after his shoulder surgery, but it wasn’t huge beforehand. He is not mobil at all and we don’t know a lot about how he would handle pass rush pressure (he hasn’t shown well in the limited opportunities). He does have great intermediate touch and ran the hurry up last year extremely well but that sometimes is actually a red flag to NFL scouts if you aren’t running one of their very vanilla schemes under center to perfection.
All the Texas guys just need to get into the NFL so I can enjoy Sundays even more than I do now. If they fall into the right situation, they will excel. That is more important than anything in the NFL. Very few guys are so good that they could excel in any situation.

If DE was a need for Dallas, which it isn’t (he said without looking the roster to see who’s a free agent after the season), Jones would probably very well consider Beal. One thing he can do is snag the occasional mid- to late-round defensive contributor. See: Victor Butler, Jay Ratliff, Chris Canty, Jason Hatcher.
Also, Jones doesn’t mind throwing away late-round picks on Sooners. In April he wasted the last pick on Manuel Frickin’ Johnson.

is ded still running around saying that miller will be drafted higher than kindle?

You know, I was debating ded on that a week or two ago. Just so happens that this article got emailed to me and a bunch of friends. We spent hours dissecting it. One of my friends, an Aggie brought up the Miller/Kindle thing. He’s no dummy and he’s not going to compromise the level of sports knowledge respect he has within the group to go full homer, and he said the same thing. Of course he also said he heard this was a good qb class coming out. I definitely don’t see that.
I can’t see it. Like I told ded, tweeners are rated by measurables. I can’t see Miller having better tangibles than Kindle. I’m hoping the Steelers move on Kindle. That would be ideal.

Rich Lord is almost as bad as Vandemeer. For all granatos farkings, he really doesn’t give a shit and I respect that. He basically told 610 to go fuck themselves and with some help started his own radio station and brought lance with him. Gotta admit that took some stones.
He’s perfectly aware he’s not the real talent. Anyways, he’s the guy I’d love to drink with. Its obvious he’s an alcoholic and well, so am I. I’d bet he would play flip cups at a bar with me, order flamming dp’s, and sing god bless the usa.

Damn, n-ea. Go tell him how you feel. There’s like an 80% chance he’s at Nick’s Place right now.
One other thing about Granato. He’s a fucking gamer. That night I referenced earlier, we shut the bar down. We were all hammered. Not buzzed. Hammered. Me and my friend that worked together got in at about 4:30. Had to be at work at 7. Before we got in the truck around 6:30 or so, we wondered if Grant and LZ would even be on. Fired up the AM and sure enough, there they were, sounding like their kids read them to sleep at about 8:30. Dude has to be a meth addict.

“You know what I meant dumbass. Their chances of not landing on a zero-win team is greater.”
First of all, only my parents, wife, and child can call me dumbass. Second, no I don’t know what you mean. You’re aware that, generally, every team has a pick in every round, right? How does going later in the draft increase their chances of playing on a good team? Pretty sure Oakland and Detroit also pick in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds.
Sorry if I’m just misunderstanding what you’re saying.

You allow your wife, a person decreed your subordinate by the Bible, to call you dumbass? Furthermore, you need to wash your kids mouth out with soap. Friends can, and are expected to call another friend ‘dumbass.’ Parents, well parents can do whatever the hell they want.
Nordberg, that’s like your longest post. I’m always amazed at what you can do with two lines (not coke lines, I know that’s coming).

That’s an awesome story magnus and just so there’s no confusion, I wouldn’t blow granato. I just think the dude is kind of a bad ass, but in general gets a bad rap bc he doesn’t have the personality of LZ and can’t carry the show with witty sports takes. Dude is a business man though and is legendary for ripping it. Only wade boggs and laurence taylor stories can top his. Red meat!

Ha. Do the Raiders even get to pick in early rounds? Or do they just take late round guys early every draft?

Oh. As for sports radio, nobody is worse than John Lopez. That guy is terrible.

Both Kindle and Miller will get paid a lot of money to rush the passer. Kindle is fast and strong, but he looks stiff compared to Miller which makes me think he’ll have a harder time getting past the NFL tackles. I could be wrong, but Miller just looks a little quicker laterally every time I see him play.

Here’s hoping that Vince does it to the Texans again two Monday nights from now so I can listen to all their heads exploding Tuesday morning. Vince could beat the Texans and put an Aggie’s job in jeopardy all in one fell swoop.

I like LZ and Granato’s show, but they hate Texas and are huuuuge SEC homers. I’ve no idea why, as LZ went to Tulane and Granato… gets drunk in Baton Rouge a lot, I guess. And they hate hate HATE Coach Mack. Any ncaa football discussion is going to include at least one cheap shot at UT or Mack.
Charlie Pelillo is still on the radio? Huh. Who knew.

I also respect the man’s patience. If I had to deal with some of the dumbass calls he has to take I’d lose it.

Anyone ever listen to Ketchum’s radio show in Austin?
I do, but only during football season. Ketch is what he is, a big galoot who stumbled into his dream job. But at least he talks about the topics that interest me, even if he adds nothing insightful. I actually prefer listening to Rod Babers on 1300, but the other dude on that show is a know-nothing loudmouth.

Rod Babers is good. Ahmad Brooks is pretty good in the morning also. When Madani is out and they have both of them it is excellent.

I can’t listen to Ahmad read the sports updates. It’s painful. In fact, I can’t listen to Ahmad at all. He takes ridiculous positions, ties himself up into rhetorical knots that would make echeese blush and then refuses to concede. It’s aggravating.

Ketchum’s station is on FM now, too, which means he sounds illiterate in stereo.

LZ couldn’t finish a thought if it was written out for him. He is an example that ANYONE can qualify to have a talk radio show. I will give him credit for his impressions (e.g., Lou Holtz) but that is his highest (and only) use.
