Big 12 South NFL Draft Grades

Posted by HenryJames on November 13th, 2009 under Football

Lance Zierlein of the the Houston Chronicle has talked with four (that’s more than three!) different NFL scouts to get their opinions on draftable players in the Big 12 South. Houstonians (Houstonauts?) have strong opinions on their local sportswriters so I don’t know if they think Zierlein is a total douche like any writer at Barking Carnival, or if he is a solid guy. I have no reason to doubt that he talked to scouts that he says he did.

Texas

Sergio Kindle, OLB/DE, UT – 1st Round
Scout’s Take: “He didn’t play as consistently this year as I expected, but he’s got great NFL attributes and I would love for us to get our hands on him.”

I mock their take on his lack of consistency, but it’s like Charlie Wilson said when it came to choosing secretaries. “You can teach ‘em to type. You can’t teach ‘em to grow tits.” Kindle is not a great pass rusher, but those skills can be taught. What you can’t teach is 265 pounds running a 4.5 with a non-stop motor. And he’s a football player.

Colt McCoy, QB, UT – 2nd/3rd Round

This is not surprising. The NFL always values certain physical attributes that McCoy doesn’t have, but it will be better for his development to be picked by a team that runs the right system and doesn’t need him to take snaps for a couple of years.

Earl Thomas, FS, UT – 2nd Round
Scout’s Take: “I love this Thomas kid. I know he probably won’t come out, but he’s got terrific range, great instincts and he’s not afraid to stick his nose in there. He’s a much better football player than the Mays kid at USC.”

The word is out on Thomas.

Jordan Shipley, WR, UT – 3rd/4th
Scout’s Take: “He has really helped him draft stock this year. He won’t be a fit for us, but I trust him as a draft pick more than Brandon LaFell who will be drafted in the 1st round.”

That’s racist! He’s a slot guy at the next level so let’s compare him to Brandon Stokley.

Oklahoma

Jermaine Gresham, TE, OU – 1st Round

Duh.

Jeremy Beal, DE, OU – 4th/5th Round

I thought he’d be a bit higher, but he’s going to seriously consider coming out. Rats. Sinking ship.

Sam Bradford, QB, OU – 1st Round (3 scouts with a 1st grade and one with a 3rd)
Scout’s Take: “Everyone else may give him a 1st, but I’ve got a 3rd on him. I think his arm is just okay and I have a problem with how he handles pressure. If you get in his face, I suspect he would be exposed a little bit.”

Bob Stoops must have that dissenting scout on speed dial.

Gerald McCoy, DT, OU – High 1st Round

Duh.

Trent Williams, OT, OU – 1st Round
Scout’s Take: “Williams is a top 10 talent but he is very lazy and the film won’t lie when teams really study him so he could fall to the late 1st.”

Last year he looked like a big tight end. This year he looks like Phil Loadholt. He’s fat and undisciplined, and it’s going to cost him money.

DeMarco Murray, RB, OU – 4th/5th Round

Poor man’s Reggie Bush who is made of glass.

Oklahoma State

Russell Okung, LT, OSU – 1st Round

Not as impressed with him this year as I was last year.

Dez Bryant, WR, OSU – Top 10
Scout’s Take: “Bryant is a better pro prospect than Crabtree in my opinion because he’s faster and I think he’ll get off press coverage in the pros better than Crabtree. He can run. He will run in the low 4.4s or maybe faster. Crabtree was a 4.5 guy.”

Only familial representation can derail him.

  1. “Is or might A&M’s Jerrod Johnson a draftable talent?

    No.”

  2. Zierlein is a solid guy. His mock drafts are typically as good as anyone’s, nationally or otherwise. His Dad is a coach for the Steelers. Please do not lump him with idiots like Richard Justice

Okung shut down Von Miller completely. I know that’s not the same as holding Orakpo or Kindle in check, but it’s still pretty good.

I don’t see any way (aside from injuries) that Shipley doesn’t turn into a productive NFL WR–and by productive I mean a guy that has a role in an offense. I don’t expect him to be a #1 guy and maybe not even a #2, but the Stokley comparison is a decent one, except that Shipley might be faster.

Surprised they didn’t rate Travis Lewis or Dom Franks. 0U players will have no incentive to come back if they have any chance to go in the first two rounds, when you combine the coming rookie salary scale and the disasters that were the returns of Bradford and Gresham.

  4. He must have been asking the scouts about certain players because I don’t see how Houston goes undrafted. I think Muck could get picked up too but he’s more likely a free agent.

  5. I like Zierlein. He is more of a radio personality than journalist. He’s firmly behind Charlie Palillio in terms of the top radio guys in the market, but the gap behind Zierlein to the next guy is pretty big. Palillo is as good as anyone in any market and I am thankful he has chosen to stay in Houston. He’s just really, really good and he has no stake in any school locally, being from Syracuse.

Lance Zierlein has the unfortunate role of being lumped next to his buddy and resident village idiot John Granato on their morning show. Granato is probably one of the dumbest human beings I have ever heard speak on a regular basis and he’s paid to do it. He led the set up of their new radio station, so their must be something to him. I have listened to these guys for 10+ plus years and he’s never gotten any smarter, so it’s a headscratcher. A few weeks ago he claimed that Dez Bryant was being railroaded by the NCAA so Texas wouldn’t have to face him. His speaking style can make ears bleed, too. Anyway, LZ makes it worth listening to on occasion and he is pretty in tune with what is happening with the NFL.

All of that considered, all of this stuff is just spitballing at this point. Murray is a poor man’s Shon Mitchell. I see nothing to value there. The guy questioning Bradford’s arm is just fucking dumb. That is being contrarian to be contrarian.

I will laugh my ass off if someone selects Trent Williams in the first round.

  6. I think Muck will get drafted. No idea when, but someone will take him.

hey you stupid sips, if you’ll listen we never said that Johnson was going to be drafted higher than ‘ole cart just that he was a better player now stfu and get ready for your licks on thanksgiving

  8. If Bradford can stay healthy in the NFL, he’ll post some big numbers. Huge arm and great touch on intermediate and deep balls and his Indian bloodlines should help in sniffing out blind side DEs.

Pettigrew is coming on in Detroit and Gresham should have an instant impact for whoever drafts him as well. The era of the sasquatch TE’s in the Big 12 is thankfully over.

I’m not sure what else you could ask for from Kindle this year. Florence might not finish the game tomorrow the way he and Houston are playing.

  9. i thought Houston would be a late 2nd/early 3rd type guy, as a DE in a 3-4 alignment

  10. Houstonians (Houstonauts?) have strong opinions on their local sportswriters so I don’t know if they think Zierlein is a total douche like any writer at Barking Carnival

Hey, speak for yourself. And Vasherized. And CTJ. Trips, too. Might as well throw The General with that group. And yours truly. And don’t forge- …Okay. I see your point.

  11. Muckleroy will be drafted.

Muck, Houston, Kindle, Ulatoski, McCoy, Shipley, Thomas (if he leaves) – they’ll all be picked.

I don’t like the odds for Hall, Tanner, or Beasley.

Is that all we’re losing? I mean, I know it’s a lot, but it feels like it would be more.

  12. “First thing we do is kill all the lawyers, starting with Brickhorn.”

    - William Shakespeare

  13. I think Ship will probably be a early 2nd rounder. Not only will he be a solid WR for someone, but he also can return punts and kicks very. That alone is paying for Cosby’s salary even though he is not as talanted a WR.

  14. He says in the comments Muckelroy’s stock has fallen a little since his soph. year when everyone was so high on him as a player. I’m hearing 4th or later now. I updated with Shipley info while Houston is a talented player who one scout labels as ‘not as tough as I had hoped.’

I can’t see any way Muck is graded lower now than he was as a sophomore, and looks like Houston is still dealing with the ‘Texas players are soft’ groupthink.

Muck is ranked at #54 overall by the WWL. They actually had him in the first round a month or two ago. Houston won’t make it out of the third round – he’s just too solid of a player. After scouts do their due diligence on Sergio and see that he’s coachable and his motor never stops, he’ll move up on a lot of boards.
Glad to see Zierlein found work after 90210..

  16. I find the notion that Houston is not tough enough to be hilarious. Someone will steal that guy if that is the scout groupthink.

Okung is the best OL to come out of the Big 12 in years. McCoy will go mid 2nd at the latest and he should send Drew Brees a thank you card for that.

I’m not so sure Ulatoski gets drafted but Houston and Muck probably will. That is saying something about our program right there as Uly has prototype NFL tackle size . The tape will show very poorly on him, but I guess someone may take him thinking they can coach him out of his bad habits. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised to see E. Jones on an NFL team next year. The scouts are going to like what they see when they watch tape of our defense. Offense….not so much.

“I don’t like the odds for Hall, Tanner,” -CTJ
Right now I don’t think Hall and Tanner could make it as bouncers at the Lake Travis Chucky Cheese.

  19. I don’t see how every team passes on Ulatoski for 7 rounds. I won’t blame them if they do, but I just don’t see it.

  20. Bartoncreek said:

I think they are getting Lamar Houston confused with Lamar Odom. Either that or they are fucking imbeciles.

  21. Eddie Jones is a junior.

  22. My bad. He will be on an NFL defense next year, it will just be in college. So we will have Acho, Jones, Okafor, Wilson and maybe Jeffcoat? Sick. Lose a first rounder at DE and just reload. Again. Might be time to start giving Giles some props.

CTJ, I am sure someone will take him, but it is awfully frustrating to watch all that talent reach about 50% of its capacity.

Whichever team drafts Houston will get to enjoy his play for 8-10 years. But do remember, this league is comprises the same fucktards that nearly let Jay Ratliff go undrafted (7th round).

  24. Didn’t some idiot on ESPN have Ulatoski as an early 1st round pick before the season started? I think it was McShay.

I can understand the Bradford complaints. There are very legitimate concerns about his ability to run an offense that isn’t completely stacked around him. His arm is not “huge”, especially not after his shoulder surgery, but it wasn’t huge beforehand. He is not mobil at all and we don’t know a lot about how he would handle pass rush pressure (he hasn’t shown well in the limited opportunities). He does have great intermediate touch and ran the hurry up last year extremely well but that sometimes is actually a red flag to NFL scouts if you aren’t running one of their very vanilla schemes under center to perfection.

All the Texas guys just need to get into the NFL so I can enjoy Sundays even more than I do now. If they fall into the right situation, they will excel. That is more important than anything in the NFL. Very few guys are so good that they could excel in any situation.

  25. A&M played Von Miller with his hand on the ground for 3 snaps against OSU and he gave Russell Okung a smooth butt-fucking. Maybe I was watching a different game.

  26. *Reference CTJ. See “smooth butt-fucking”.

Not quite sure what that is, so a little guess-work was involved.

  27. It was when OSU started at their own seven yard line. Miller beat Okung inside on first down for a tfl, and then he beat him on the outside for a QB pressure on third down.

  28. Scarred by ded's analogies said:

If I’m ever subjected to a butt-fucking, I hope that it is indeed smooth..

  29. Nice. That’s what I appreciate about HenryJames, he always does his homework. It’s the only way anyone that dumb could ever earn a degree from Texas.

  30. When you don’t have to hang with the hoi polloi, you notice shit like that.

    Photobucket

  31. We’re not going to double Miller. You know it’s coming. We’re not going to double him, and he’s going to go apeshit to the tune of 3-4 sacks and a few TFL’s.

Greg Davis would view it as unsound offensive football.

  32. I’m guessing that little clip of film is going to be worth millions to one of those gentlemen.

  33. Lance Zierlein is a great radio personality. Granato not so much, but he does a good job of setting Lance up when he gets on a roll. Lance’s impressions of SEC Guy and Rocker on a Mobile are pure radio gold. He also knows his sht. Unfortunately, the morning show can be unbearable when not much is happening in the sports world or when they broadcast outside of the studio. The commercial breaks are brutal too.

I love Pallilo’s format. He just takes call after call and he’s about as objective as they get.

  34. I was even more impressed with Miller in live attendance. He’s way better than any of those guys the Wrecking Crew was rolling out in the 80s. Dude is like a fucking cheetah. Quick.

  35. The NFL needs linemen. Utaloski could probably make the Green Bay Packers right now.

  36. John Granato is downright pathetic. He is at his best/worst with his 9th grade pubescent schtick. Stuff like: “that’s what she said” or “mine’s bigger” all the inuendoes of a sexually frustated perv. Too bad it’s his raido gig. Lance doesn’t need a set up man. Lance has good connections and knows his stuff. Keep up the good work Lance.

I agree 100% there morning show does become unbearable when they got nothing but John’s wit and charm to work with.

As for Charlie Palillo – calls them like he sees them. Most Houstonians like his straight forward approach. He is Switzerland – but with an opinion.

  37. Palillo is good, but the people who call in to his show say such stupid shit that I can’t stand to listen to him.

  38. magnusbleuveigner said:

Granato is definitely a doofus, but dude can throw down on the drinks. I was at the Tavern one night when they were doing a bikini contest. As I walked through the door I could here Granato’s unmistakable voice say, “I bet you can smell her ass from there.” I’m sure she enjoyed that. I was with a girl that new them and ended up hanging with them a while. LZ is a good dude. He’s somewhat of a know it all type and will try to pass shit off. People in the know, know he can be full of shit sometimes. His SEC guy is unbelievably good. His Russian accent guy is also tremendous.

Palillo is great. Straight sports talk.

Lamarr Houston is a poor man’s Tyson Jackson. He could play 3-4 end or 4-3 tackle. 3 rounder maybe 2nd.

If Jordy Nelson was a high 2nd rounder I’m thinking Ship is too. He’ll run 4.4 and won’t drop a single ball in workouts.

Kevwun: All people that call into radio shows are stupid. “Whaddya think if we trade Michael Bourn, Hunter Pence, Humberto Quintero for A-Rod? I’ll hang up and listen.”

  39. I used to work with a guy who regularly spent time with Granato and everything he said about the guy is consistent with what Magnus just said. He is also apparently a big gambler and lives a life now at his age that most of us couldn’t have even kept up with in college: booze and poker with the boys until the wee hours almost every single night.

At least that’s what I have heard.

  40. If Beal falls to the fourth round, somebody will get an absolute steal.

Wishful thinking that Jerry Jones would do something smart here and take him, I guess.

  41. Which one of them flipped out on the air when Vince beat the Texans in ‘06? I used to have it saved somewhere but I can’t find it.

    Was awesome.

  42. If DE was a need for Dallas, which it isn’t (he said without looking the roster to see who’s a free agent after the season), Jones would probably very well consider Beal. One thing he can do is snag the occasional mid- to late-round defensive contributor. See: Victor Butler, Jay Ratliff, Chris Canty, Jason Hatcher.

Also, Jones doesn’t mind throwing away late-round picks on Sooners. In April he wasted the last pick on Manuel Frickin’ Johnson.

  43. NorthDallasSooner said:

If Beal and Murray are 4th to 5th they’ll be back in Norman, especially Murray who needs to demonstrate that he can make it through a whole season unscathed.

    Doperbo,

I don’t think it was either of them on air for a Texans telecast. Maybe Mark Vandermeer.

This is my first year without season tickets so I’m pretty invested financially and emotionally. Man I was rooting for VY like a mother that day. That 40 yard td in OT was straight at me. I’d like to think he was running into my welcoming arms.

  45. It was the next day on sports talk radio- one of the Houston guys went on a ten minute rant, describing every single way the franchise had let him down in scathing detail. Like festivus but less festive. Funny as hell. Everyone else in the booth went tharn with fear and awe.

Man I used to have it saved somewhere, I’m sure the link is long gone.

  46. That might have been Rich Lord or Matt Jackson. Jackson is a Texas hater, but I like both of those guys and their passion. Lord is the easiest radio guy to like in Houston. He sounds like a mild mannered guy with no schtick that would be fun to have a beer with.

  47. Colt and Ship going in the later rounds is ideal. They’ll land on better teams and eventually get in there. Plus, Colt won’t have the pressure of contributing right away like Bradford. Wherever he ends up, Ship will be the steal of the draft. Wes Welker’s little brother will get playing time if the coach he lands with is smart.

  48. Shitty teams pick in later rounds too.

  49. Jigglebilly said:

    November 13th, 2009 at 2:59 pm

We can easily compare it to last year: Kindle is Orakpo and will be wildly hyped by the WWSL making him a top 15 pick, and Houston is Roy Miller who was never even mentioned by the national media and Tampa straight stole him in the 4th round. All 4 of the aforementioned will play 7+ years of NFL foosball. And UT will be better defensively NEXT year…sick!

  50. Rich Lord was also a big VY fan during and after the NC run.

  51. magnusbleuveigner said:

    November 13th, 2009 at 4:02 pm

Rich Lord is the guy that said, “have you seeeeen Vince Youngs body?” To this day they play it with regularity. I must disagree on the likability factor. The guy might be a decent enough man, well actually he is friendly, but he’ll put his political slant in there from time to time or go off on some Rolling Stones tangent for 20 minutes.

Matt Jackson is a huge homer. It was probably him. 610 just kind of sucks on the whole. Jackson is a big 49er fan, so sometimes I cut him slack.

And, my god is Vandermeer terrible. Everytime we score me and my boys yell “RHYTHM AND BLUES!!!” As his “catchphrase” is the laughably lame “rock’n roll.”

  52. I agree about Vandermeer. He is unlistenable. I root actively against the Texans, so I enjoy the meltdowns from Jackson after the losses.

In regard to Lord, I don’t mind tangents. I am usually either thinking business or sports, so some other distraction in the discussion usually just causes me to tune out for a bit mentally.

  53. magnusbleuveigner said:

    November 13th, 2009 at 4:12 pm

“I root actively against the Texans.”

I guess it’s good to be active about something.

1560 if you like tangents. Those guys are all over the place. Nobody on here has brought up John Harrison. He’s excellent when it comes to CFB.

  54. Anyone ever listen to Ketchum’s radio show in Austin? It’s been probably at least five years since I’ve listened to talk radio.

  55. I listened to Ketchum this summer before I moved to Houston.

He does radio like he does subscriber recruiting services.

  56. Shitty teams pick in later rounds too.

You know what I meant dumbass. Their chances of not landing on a zero-win team is greater.

  57. Lt. Frank Drebin said:

  59. is ded still running around saying that miller will be drafted higher than kindle?

  60. magnusbleuveigner said:

    November 13th, 2009 at 7:22 pm

You know, I was debating ded on that a week or two ago. Just so happens that this article got emailed to me and a bunch of friends. We spent hours dissecting it. One of my friends, an Aggie brought up the Miller/Kindle thing. He’s no dummy and he’s not going to compromise the level of sports knowledge respect he has within the group to go full homer, and he said the same thing. Of course he also said he heard this was a good qb class coming out. I definitely don’t see that.

I can’t see it. Like I told ded, tweeners are rated by measurables. I can’t see Miller having better tangibles than Kindle. I’m hoping the Steelers move on Kindle. That would be ideal.

  61. Rich Lord is almost as bad as Vandemeer. For all granatos farkings, he really doesn’t give a shit and I respect that. He basically told 610 to go fuck themselves and with some help started his own radio station and brought lance with him. Gotta admit that took some stones.

He’s perfectly aware he’s not the real talent. Anyways, he’s the guy I’d love to drink with. Its obvious he’s an alcoholic and well, so am I. I’d bet he would play flip cups at a bar with me, order flamming dp’s, and sing god bless the usa.

  62. magnusbleuveigner said:

    November 13th, 2009 at 7:58 pm

Damn, n-ea. Go tell him how you feel. There’s like an 80% chance he’s at Nick’s Place right now.

One other thing about Granato. He’s a fucking gamer. That night I referenced earlier, we shut the bar down. We were all hammered. Not buzzed. Hammered. Me and my friend that worked together got in at about 4:30. Had to be at work at 7. Before we got in the truck around 6:30 or so, we wondered if Grant and LZ would even be on. Fired up the AM and sure enough, there they were, sounding like their kids read them to sleep at about 8:30. Dude has to be a meth addict.

  63. “You know what I meant dumbass. Their chances of not landing on a zero-win team is greater.”

First of all, only my parents, wife, and child can call me dumbass. Second, no I don’t know what you mean. You’re aware that, generally, every team has a pick in every round, right? How does going later in the draft increase their chances of playing on a good team? Pretty sure Oakland and Detroit also pick in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds.

Sorry if I’m just misunderstanding what you’re saying.

  64. magnusbleuveigner said:

    November 13th, 2009 at 8:43 pm

You allow your wife, a person decreed your subordinate by the Bible, to call you dumbass? Furthermore, you need to wash your kids mouth out with soap. Friends can, and are expected to call another friend ‘dumbass.’ Parents, well parents can do whatever the hell they want.

Nordberg, that’s like your longest post. I’m always amazed at what you can do with two lines (not coke lines, I know that’s coming).

  65. That’s an awesome story magnus and just so there’s no confusion, I wouldn’t blow granato. I just think the dude is kind of a bad ass, but in general gets a bad rap bc he doesn’t have the personality of LZ and can’t carry the show with witty sports takes. Dude is a business man though and is legendary for ripping it. Only wade boggs and laurence taylor stories can top his. Red meat!

  66. Ha. Do the Raiders even get to pick in early rounds? Or do they just take late round guys early every draft?

  67. Oh. As for sports radio, nobody is worse than John Lopez. That guy is terrible.

  68. Both Kindle and Miller will get paid a lot of money to rush the passer. Kindle is fast and strong, but he looks stiff compared to Miller which makes me think he’ll have a harder time getting past the NFL tackles. I could be wrong, but Miller just looks a little quicker laterally every time I see him play.

  69. Here’s hoping that Vince does it to the Texans again two Monday nights from now so I can listen to all their heads exploding Tuesday morning. Vince could beat the Texans and put an Aggie’s job in jeopardy all in one fell swoop.

Re: Ketchum on the radio. Three hours of incomplete sentences.

  71. I like LZ and Granato’s show, but they hate Texas and are huuuuge SEC homers. I’ve no idea why, as LZ went to Tulane and Granato… gets drunk in Baton Rouge a lot, I guess. And they hate hate HATE Coach Mack. Any ncaa football discussion is going to include at least one cheap shot at UT or Mack.

Charlie Pelillo is still on the radio? Huh. Who knew.

  72. Pallilo >> everyone else

I also respect the man’s patience. If I had to deal with some of the dumbass calls he has to take I’d lose it.

  73. Anyone ever listen to Ketchum’s radio show in Austin?

I do, but only during football season. Ketch is what he is, a big galoot who stumbled into his dream job. But at least he talks about the topics that interest me, even if he adds nothing insightful. I actually prefer listening to Rod Babers on 1300, but the other dude on that show is a know-nothing loudmouth.

  74. Rod Babers is good. Ahmad Brooks is pretty good in the morning also. When Madani is out and they have both of them it is excellent.

  75. I can’t listen to Ahmad read the sports updates. It’s painful. In fact, I can’t listen to Ahmad at all. He takes ridiculous positions, ties himself up into rhetorical knots that would make echeese blush and then refuses to concede. It’s aggravating.

  76. Ketchum’s station is on FM now, too, which means he sounds illiterate in stereo.

  77. I miss Kevin Dunn. He was good.

  78. LZ couldn’t finish a thought if it was written out for him. He is an example that ANYONE can qualify to have a talk radio show. I will give him credit for his impressions (e.g., Lou Holtz) but that is his highest (and only) use.

Trips hit part of what struck me over and over. KU had offensive options/outlets when Texas forced them into trouble (which happened quite a bit, as the stats showed that Texas did bring defense last night), and the

At least, that’s the line I would expect to hear from Rivals or Scouts if they were in a relationship with Bo Pelini and ended up going to Dr. Phil to try and work out their differences. Of course, that would never happen because Bo would’ve just laughed, packed her shit up, and thrown

    CTJ,

Rivals doesn’t think there are any elite players in Texas this year. Do you think we’ll have to go out of state to compensate?

    Thanks!

Junior Days are right around the corner, so I thought we’d break down needs, talk recruits, and find a ray of gridiron sunshine in the long and cursed offseason.

CTJ gives us his thoughts too. Had I realized, I might have saved myself the typing.

Unlike last year where DFW held an

Enjoyed watching these guys tonight. I was blown away to see Huggy was 5X coach of the year. He seems like a tourney flame out more often than not. That Kenyon Marting leg break didn’t do him any favors.

How do you see them progresing in the tourney?

Avery Bradley, who shot 77% from the foul line in high school and is now shooting 47% at Texas would probably be shooting closer to his high school average if he played at Duke.

    Sweet Jesus that’s ridonkulous.

Importance of Recruiting Rankings by Position.

Now that the recruiting season is over and most Cal fans are waxing poetic (along with some Texas fans) about how great these 17-18 year olds will be, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at recruiting rankings as a potential measurement for future success.

    For the purposes

I really don’t want to repeat the horrid situation of the past few years where we starved for depth and talent at DT. It’s critical not to let defensive line recruiting slip. That said, if we bring in two tackles and two ends this year that would be 21 scholarships used on the

It appears as though the dude is committed to raiding the SEC and ignoring the West Coast.

It’s understandable, with the way that recruiting is generally territory based. Isaiah Crowell, the RB we’ve been linked to, goes to Columbus Carver. That’s an Auburn pipeline school. Still, I can’t imagine that recruitment lasting much

Thoughts? I think that’s a damn good write up.

Other than that, root for Willie Warren to be healthy because he screws up Oklahoma’s chemistry. Everything else can be found in your report. Maintain contact with Cade Davis on defense and don’t let TMG go buck wild.

The OL from New Mexico is Matt Hagerty, with a “g”. He’s on pretty much every national top 100 list that I’ve seen so far.

USC fans are dismayed that Westerman is coming our junior day.

With the scholarship numbers, I think we’re five over as of right now. That’s

Against Oklahoma St., we saw Hamilton rise up. Against Oklahoma Bradley made a heroic effort, against Kansas James contributed his usual 20-10 and J’Covan Brown came out of the woodwork. Again I ask, who is the go-to scorer?

Going into the game you would have thought the battle would have been a classic matchup between West Virginia’s frontcourt and Villanova’s backcourt.

The only question is which team could impose their will and dictate the mismatch. Villanova might try to do it by pressing and playing up tempo. West Virginia’s

OT and DB are the most important postions. OT we need Westerman, Haverty and Drango/Greenlea/Cochran. What do we know about Cochran?
