Talking about Malcolm Williams at today’s press conference:
“Malcolm’s about 220 pounds, and it’s amazing to me that he’s on kick coverage, he’s on punt coverage, he’s on the kickoff return team and playing 35-40 plays a game and making a difference. I walked into Oscar Giles’ office and tried to get him off the kickoff coverage team, and it was like trying to steal a child or something.“
That made me laugh.

OK, I was there. Not the best seat in the house, but not a bad one either.

At least, that’s the line I would expect to hear from Rivals or Scouts if they were in a relationship with Bo Pelini and ended up going to Dr. Phil to try and work out their differences. Of course, that would never happen because Bo would’ve just laughed, packed her shit up, and thrown

Rivals doesn’t think there are any elite players in Texas this year. Do you think we’ll have to go out of state to compensate?
Thanks!

Enjoyed watching these guys tonight. I was blown away to see Huggy was 5X coach of the year. He seems like a tourney flame out more often than not. That Kenyon Marting leg break didn’t do him any favors.
How do you see them progresing in the tourney?

Avery Bradley, who shot 77% from the foul line in high school and is now shooting 47% at Texas would probably be shooting closer to his high school average if he played at Duke.
Sweet Jesus that’s ridonkulous.

Importance of Recruiting Rankings by Position.
Now that the recruiting season is over and most Cal fans are waxing poetic (along with some Texas fans) about how great these 17-18 year olds will be, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at recruiting rankings as a potential measurement for future success.
For the purposes

I really don’t want to repeat the horrid situation of the past few years where we starved for depth and talent at DT. It’s critical not to let defensive line recruiting slip. That said, if we bring in two tackles and two ends this year that would be 21 scholarships used on the

It appears as though the dude is committed to raiding the SEC and ignoring the West Coast.
It’s understandable, with the way that recruiting is generally territory based. Isaiah Crowell, the RB we’ve been linked to, goes to Columbus Carver. That’s an Auburn pipeline school. Still, I can’t imagine that recruitment lasting much

Going into the game you would have thought the battle would have been a classic matchup between West Virginia’s frontcourt and Villanova’s backcourt.
The only question is which team could impose their will and dictate the mismatch. Villanova might try to do it by pressing and playing up tempo. West Virginia’s

Quotable Greg (on continued running game woes):
“There’s no magic number”
Hmmm … Last week there was a bunch of them.
“It’s always everybody’s fault,” Davis said. “Could we have blocked them better? Sure. Could we have put our eyes in the right place? Sure. Could Colt have pulled it one the ‘read’ one time? Sure. Could I have sent a better play? You can’t just point to one area.”
Nice. It’s everybody’s and nobody’s fault. That is how you teach accountability.
Unsatisfied with these results now 10 weeks into the season, we’ve telegraphed our stubborn resolve to run it down Baylor’s throat.
“Cody could see 20 carries in Waco.”
2.7 ypc, holla!

I’m reminded of the movie “Gallipoli”, when the British commander, on a ship miles from the battle, is told that the Australian troops’ first wave were all mowed down by the Turkish machine guns within 10 yards of leaving their trenches. An Australian officer gently suggests that an alternate strategy might be a good idea. The British commander decides that his battle plan is not the problem, and that the Australian troops’ personal courage is the problem. He orders two more waves of troop charges into the machine guns…with predictable results. The last wave didn’t even bother to fix their bayonets (they knew they wouldn’t need them), and instead used them to hold goodbye messages to their loved ones in the trench walls.
That’s Davis’ analytical approach to our running game. The players have to try harder and execute better.

Also, every time Davis opens his mouth he says things that would never, ever come out of Muschamp’s mouth. Hey, Greg, we’re still “working on the run game”?? Seriously, try to imagine Muschamp failing so badly in an area so consistently. And then just throwing up his hands and saying “well, shit, must be everyone’s fault!”.

This weekend we will run for 200 yards and on Monday all we’ll hear about is how the running game is fantastic and has been all year. Then they’ll take the newly skewed avg’s and throw those at us.
Numbers only matter when they’re on the coaches’ side. when they don’t say the right things, they’re irrelevant.
