[...] Good luck ranking anyone past #5. The transitive property is pretty useless at this stage and delineating 2-3 loss teams vs 0-1 loss teams who haven’t played anyone isn’t easy for any voter who isn’t just mailing it in. …. Well, things in college football are beginning to shake out a little earlier than usual, aren’t they? I mean, most years we have to wait until the last week or two of the season to really know who the best 3 or 4 teams in the country truly are. …This Post [...]

Even though I'm a diehard GT man, I agree that as far as power goes, LSU should probably be ranked ahead of GT. At least until we figure a way not to lose to them in teh Chicken Bowl in our own back freakin yard!
Besides, we could probably move the ball on anyone in the country, but we make mediocre quarterback look like Heisman contenders with our "Waffle House" defensive backfield. Not that anyone but Morgan on our DL is playing all that great either. Do you have a player with concussion problems, sore shoulder, ankle problems? No problem, play him at QB against GT - its the safest place for him in the whole stadium. We get no pressure on the QB hardly ever. And yes, Scipio, we have tried shouting sarcasm, and profanity laced familial refrences as our LBs and DEs are skewered on another OL's blocks ( as you put it) it doesn't seem to affect their throwing motion much. In fact, we had to stop because it was pissing them off.

"We recruited Luck but he was Stanford all the way. He committed early in June 2007 before he even took his official visit.

FWIW, that's how I remember it as well. He was 100% Tree from jump street.

I'll echo Vash. I remember Luck, he had a hard on for Cardinal from the get go.

I'd put LSU at 5, they are better than Cinci and Ga Tech. Two losses be damned.

Nordberg,

He was the top ranked QB in the state 2 years ago and one of the top overall prospects. My question is, did Texas even bother to recruit him or did he commit to Stanford early in the process because that's where he wanted to go or Texas showed no interest?

Regardless, the kid has a strong arm and great touch.
