Orlando Sentinel reports that UCF is sitting its starting QB and RB today. Both are “nicked up.” Seriously.

  2. Orlando is a filthy taint of a town. Fuck that place.

  3. CUSA officiating crew

  4. I think I can still see Neil Armstrong’s footprints on George O’Leary’s face.

  5. O’Leary’s epidermis doubles as a barrel of Bushmill’s.

Jah is on the offensive line. Insert reggae joke.

  7. Calabrese threw that one like a paper airplane.

  8. Raucous crowd.

  9. Someone needs to have a quick chat with Shipley about the fair catch concept. There was nothing there but downside, similar to last week.

  10. Shipley will write a country song about it.

“That’s the magic of the Texas offense”

  12. We’ve got to be the worst WR screen team in the country. Everyone else can run that play for 5-8 yards a pop.

O’Leary is a walking advert for both the Betty Ford Center and any rosacea medication.

  14. It only works when Williams breaks tackles.

  15. Balls. Guess Hunter was due to miss one of those eventually.

  16. hunter misses on the first day of deer season

  17. Davis’ fault

  18. Bad decision by Colt to throw that screen back at 2nd and change. There were 4 UCF players jumbled up at one spot and he tossed it over anyway and Monroe (I think) gets stuffed. Colt was on automatic pilot there, following GD’s shitty vanilla offense scheme to the letter. He needs to play smarter than that.

  19. nickel to start?

  20. That drive was inspiring. Like ‘I’m now going to finish high school’ inspiring.

  21. Figures, right? I got over on this game, and it’s 5 minutes and no score. Meanwhile, every friiggin game in the morning is 7-7. LMAO.

  22. oh keenan!

  23. Fag call.

  24. Keenan has to be smarter than that.

  25. Muck got tackled.

  26. Muschamp does not look happy.

  27. Serg says Hi!

  28. lammarr was a MAN on that 3rd down

  29. Houston just split a double team and got tackled for his troubles.

  30. O’Leary needs some SmartShield

  31. UCF is using their back to help pass block our DTs. Interesting.

  32. Greatest. Television. Timeout. Ever.

  33. Wow. What a pussy call. Pass up a chance at the lead for 20 yards in field position?

Eddie Jones is a bad man. Losing Sergio is obviously not great, but I’m kinda looking forward to seeing what EJ can do as a starter next year.

    O’Leary knows we’ll go 3 and out.

  37. How many negative yard plays will the offense have today?

  38. What. Was. That?

    ???

  39. sizzlechest said:

    November 7th, 2009 at 10:32 am

    Barnum and Davis. Ooooo elephants!!

  40. Oh Jesus Christ. We looked like a bunch of ferets trying to fuck a football.

  41. Screen ‘em on 2nd and 23.

  42. OK. So, when do we ask Muschamp to open up the playbook so that we can score? By the defense I mean…

  43. burnt orange outrage said:

    November 7th, 2009 at 10:33 am

shit. that was an easy TD if Colt can handle the ball

  44. We’re saving stuff for Baylor.

  45. Question? Why is it when we do call the rare “trick” play it usually blows up in our face?

Answer. Because we do it so rarely there’s no game-time experience, and thus the plays have a lower probability of succeeding.

  46. You know, I actually liked the play call Give the lack of a running lane, it really did look like our typical run play. Too bad we didn’t execute worth a shit.

Nice 3 yard drag route on 3rd and 17.

  47. Well, at least you can say our offense plays to the level of competition we’re facing. That at least bodes well for when we play better teams…

    Sigh…

  48. What a shocker. Slow start by the Horns.

  49. Getting the start at RB for Texas is the opposite of a reward. Defense isn’t tired enough yet.

  50. Pathetic first quarter. So much for starting fast.

  51. I hate him. I hate him. I hate him. Greg F’in Davis. He has never been successful. Ever. Coordinator of year in ‘05…we all know why. Amazing not a single job offer thrown his way after that.

  52. ransomstoddard said:

    November 7th, 2009 at 10:38 am

After watching the first quarter, whose OC would you rather have: the one that is marching up and down the field, mixing in misdirection etc with guys who are replacing hurt starters, or the giant fat wad of stupidity known as Greg Davis

  53. 6 rush /-4 yds. Nice game you schemed up, Greg.

  54. New game plan: punt on first down

  55. Holy crap! CALL A HOLD. Wow.

  56. Mack needs to sign the UCF OC at halftime.

  57. Davis is what he is: mediocre. However, we’re a Colt dropped lateral away from a 70 yard TD pass and a TD lead. The flea flicker was a genuinely good call.

  58. Why do you even need to run trick plays against UCF? Line up and run at them.

  59. This game should be on Raycom.

  60. “This game should be on Raycom.”

It should be on the Etch-A-Sketch network.

  61. “Why do you even need to run trick plays against UCF? Line up and run at them.”

They are probably the 2nd best (statistically) run defense we’ve seen this year, and we haven’t been able to line up and run on ANYONE this year.

Not sure what you were really expecting to see today, but this is the same team that has showed up pretty much every week for us.

  62. We could use a kick return for a td here.

  63. Rich, he’s not mediocre. The man is horrible. Flea flicker would have been successful b/c it’s UCF but not from your 20. Score should be 21-0 by now. I wouldn’t be so upset if we didn’t have the talent. But the bathroom gas in the press box is killing our talent.

  64. ransomstoddard said:

    November 7th, 2009 at 10:49 am

We couldn’t run on Westlake’s jv.

  65. As long as we are jumping on our favorite bugaboos — why was Gideon 7 yards *in front* of the deep receiver on that last play?

  66. Why wasn’t that a horse collar?

  67. 1) Finally, somewhat downfield.

    2) No horse collar????

  68. Man. Perfect throw by Colt. Dang.

  69. Malcolm has to pull that one in.

  70. All is right with the universe now.

  71. Oh god mal.

  72. And why couldn’t we do that on the first drive?

  73. Hey, hey! We finally woke up.

  74. What’s wrong with that running play? Just line up and run at them. All that long-developing diversion crap is just that – crap.

  75. Common Sense said:

  76. burnt orange outrage said:

ok, they woke us up and now we decided to go ahead and play. that’s much more like it. nice stiff-arm by cody. 7-3

  77. That stiff arm by Malc was nasty.

  78. Colt’s insistence on hooking up with his roommate on every broken play kills us.

  79. Look what happens when you throw a couple of vertical passes. Amazing.

  80. Okay, we’ve had about 40 minutes of commercials and 20 minutes of football TV.

  87. I just spotted a terrorist

  88. Sergio is fast as a scalded dog.

  89. Calabrese throws the football like Lamar threw the javelin in ‘Revenge of the Nerds.’ They need to redesign a football to take advantage of his limp-wristed throwing style.

  90. I wonder if GD is sentient enough to be properly insulted by that early field-position punt which resulted in the positive 15 yards that O’Leary intended. That was a HUGE insult to our offense. Even more so because it worked.

  91. mookiepatookis said:

No score in the Wheat Classic in Manhattan.

  99. Wait, Shipley slips. Isn’t this why we got field turf.

Can’t believe I stopped splitting wood to what the asshattery that is Greg Davis.

  100. Cody Johnson, on the ground.

  101. burnt orange outrage said:

    Cody effin Johnson!!!

  102. What am I missing? When there is a hole, Fozzy’s timing seems off, does Fozzy lack timing or is it all of our running to the sideline?

And Johnson, he is a straight ahead runner, not a sideline runner.

Maybe the field goal was our alarm clock, sheesh.

  109. The good news is, to the extent we try, we usually find at least one back that can run it each game. It’s been Monroe, Newton, Vondrell, Fozzy, and now Cody — it’s nice to have options.

  110. Assignment football, nolan.

Holy fuck what was Colt looking at? Guess we won’t throw deep again.

  123. Crap. Good job by Buckner making the tackle, though.

    Crap.

  124. Awful pass, and an awful effort by Kirk to go get the ball. Colt needs to lead him more, and Kirk needs to come back and get the ball instead of waiting.

  125. Kirkendoll did a T.O.-level job of fighting back to an imperfectly thrown pass.

  126. You know, the UCF secondary has made some plays today. Breaking up the Williams TD, and that pick, were both nice individual plays.

  127. Kindle is a monster.

  128. Sergio is wrecking shop today.

  129. IMO Kindle is an outside lineback in a 3-4 on Sundays.

  130. that was the second underthrown would be td pass in a row by colt

  133. Why is Kirkendoll ever on the field?

  134. Mr. Obvious says, “Colt is not as good as last year.” Still a very good QB, but has made more unwise decisions this year.

  135. Did Kindle really put on 30lbs and keep his speed?

  136. Kindle may not even be human.

  137. ransomstoddard said:

Someone introduce the village idiot to Dan Buckner. You know, the guy that is a mismatch for most lbs.

  138. The UCF secondary is so shit Colt doesn’t realize he can just lead his receivers and gobble up yards at will. He’s underthrowing so many longballs it’s ridiculous. Has anyone ever seen that B.J. Daniels from USF throw? Dear God that guy throws quite possibly the most perfect longballs I’ve ever seen. RIGHT ON TARGET every single time.

Egg: and therein lies the basis of Colt’s lawsuit against the village idiot.

Oh, wait. We’re up 14-3. The UCF punter is having a career day, and field position has been the SUCK as a result. AND our defense actually started a little slowly today.

Methinks Muschamp kicks some ass at halftime.

Will Shipley top 300 yards today?

    Second half will be better.

  147. I am amazed that play action continues to even be marginally successful for us.

  148. So Goodwin does well catching passes on the run vs. ou and since we make him catch only hitches.

  153. Someone has to tell Colt to look at Fozzy slipping out of the backfield. He’s had a lot of space the last two times he has done that.

  154. Hix just got flat out owned. Great halftime adjustments, Greg.

  155. He is holding the ball waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. And it doesn’t even look like he is turning his head to look for open receivers.

  156. God. Our offense is so bad.

Hmm, we’ve shown that Cody can run it, so we completely abandon the run.

  206. RIch —

Obviously. But I don’t think that all of our plays have real third options. Some barely have second options. Most times you have a target route, but the option to change based on coverage, etc. We don’t seem to do that.

  222. Chris Hall pees sitting down.

  223. Oh. My. Goodness. ARE YOU SERIOUS???

I am SO pissed. Greg Davis SUCKS at getting the ball out of the end zone.

  224. Our O-line could learn a thing our two about nastiness from women’s soccer.

  225. How can our OL be this soft?

  226. This offensive line is the worst unit on the team.

  227. The I Formation!

Ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha!

  228. I’m still stunned. I shouldn’t be, but I am.

  229. If this stands, then we are lucky. I think CJ actually may have gotten the ball out of the end zone, but still. We’re lucky that he even got where he did.

Do we not even trust our line enough to let Colt pass?

  236. Are you fucking kidding me? Run the god damn ball and get us some space, Colt! Stupidity defined.

  237. So glad Malcolm did not see the field the first 5 games.

  238. Nice hands by Malc. He has shown up pretty large today.

  239. We are getting every single call. This is SEC-level crooked. That was not a first down. That was a safety. This is ridiculous.

  245. Whether or not it was a first down is academic, because it was a safety.

  246. So why do we refuse to throw that pass to Mal or Marquis when it is there to be had, specially when Ship is in the slot drawing the safety up?

  247. MerHorn –

Colt and Shipley are roommates, man. Their parents are friends. They go out in the woods together, just the two of them, and spend lots of time alone killing things. They have a special relationship. I wish the announcers would explain that sometime.

WHOOOOOOOOOO! Colt to Shipley 88 yards!!!!!!

  249. Colt = Ace. Shipley = Gary.

  250. Well, despite the bad calls:

    1) Credit to CJ for making the extra effort to get out of the EZ. The call went his way, thankfully, but it is notable that he kept giving effort after contact.

    2) Credit to Colt and Malcom for making that play happen.

I do think Colt is starting to trust MW more. He’s throwing him balls and expecting him to battle for the ball and come down with it.

How long was that throw by McCoy? 40 yards? More? Could anyone tell?

  251. Colt back in the thick of the Heisman with that TD.

  261. One of the big negatives of this game. Very little, if any, playing time for Gilbert.

There aren’t a lot of minutes left in the season for Gilbert to get PT and the slow start today (and other days) could cost UT in the future.

  267. Chiles is a “play-maker” apparently.

  268. I really wonder what would have happened if we had started Chiles at WR and given him a redshirt? Not sure if he will ever be a natural WR, but he’s got some wiggle for sure.

  269. Now it is.

    35-3 lets Gilbert play.

  270. And we enter the “opposing team is giving up” portion of the game. Time to pad the rushing stats, right Greg?

  271. I don’t think Chiles has wiggle. He’s fast — like 100 yard fast. He’s not five yard fast and he doesn’t juke. Plus, his hands aren’t good. He doesn’t give us anything that we don’t get from other receivers.

  299. Oh yeah, the Oregon loss also guarantees TCU the BCS slot if Cincinnati loses for the same reason.

  302. it will be interesting to see how the sec championship game is called.

Whoever is leading going into the 4th quarter gets screwed. Then when the other team takes the lead they get screwed. Then continue alternating until there is double overtime — thus ensuring that we see a repeat between these two magnificent teams in the BCS championship game.

  303. Huck,

How does Cincinnati’s losses or wins effect TCU? Cincy is in the Big East and that is still an automatic qualifier if they win out.

  304. I’m sure ESPN’s billion dollar deal has nothing to do with keeping bama and florida unbeaten…

  305. Officiating in the SEC = Officiating in the NBA

I was actually sick after watching this game on tape delay (driving back from Austin, watched once I got home, nearly threw up chili after seeing that horse-fucking-shit of a call).

It makes me not want to watch them at all…until we play them in the BCS title game…with PAC-10 refs!

NOW I know why UT fans cry all the time about all the holds OU’s line gets away with. Cause it’s fucking true. Jesus tap dancing Christ, I don’t think it could’ve BEEN anymore obvious. Suh and Crick should’ve registered AT LEAST 5 sacks between them, and OU would’ve accumulated 100+ penalty yards, if the refs weren’t staring at…well, whatever the hell they were staring at. Absolutely ridiculous. 58 passing attempts and not a SINGLE holding call, eh?

    Riiiiiight…

  309. Mike, is this holding anything like the “great athletic play” where Prince Anasdflms grabbed Tennell by the outside of his shoulder pads while the ball was in the air and used him like a slingshot to make his interception?

Or like the time your entire stadium of “knowledgeable” fans booed after your safety put a WR in a headlock with the ball in flight?

    Thanks.

You still didn’t address the issue, I’m afraid. Explain to me why blatant holding isn’t called? It’s ridiculous Nate, however you want to slice it. You want to call Prince’s interception a bad non call? Fine. But I’m still wondering wtf the deal is with calling obvious holding in the Big XII.

If it makes you feel better, it was a very poor officiating job all the way around.
