That team would be mediocre at best, likely bad without Lebron

If the Oregon v Boise state wasn’t so lopsided I could try to see your point of view. However, Boise manhandled Oregon in a way that we did to Missouri.
Oregon had 152 yards total offense compared to 361 for Boise.
The total yards were the fewest for Oregon in nearly 15 years.
Boise with 22 first downs. Only 6 for Oregon.
TOP – 42 minutes for Boise. 18 for Oregon.
Oregon had 31 yards rushing on the day.
Quoting from ESPN recap of the game, “if not for two missed field goals, a botched field-goal snap and three turnovers, it very well might have been a high-scoring rout for the Broncos.”
The domination was so complete that Oregon’s first firstdown of the game was with less than 1 minute left in the half.
Take a look at the drive-chart. http://espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=292460068&period=1
If we as horn-fans are going to cry about 45-35 we have to be consistent and put a team with a BETTER record ahead of a team that they beat head-to-head.

Scipio, sincerely hope it’s nothing unpleasant that’s kept you from making more frequent posts lately. I think I can safely speak for one and all readers of this site that your posts are greatly missed.
I agree that TCU should be above Cincy and Iowa, probably should be above Oregon too, but the wow factor of the Ducks’ prison shower treatment of USC last night is considerable. TCU’s defense is legit — a notch or 2 below ours but nasty nonetheless. It’s truly sad that Fort Worth hasn’t gotten more firmly behind that team. The Utah game is sold out, but come on — Amon Carter only holds 44,000! The team deserves much better from its fans.
As for the “Make your reservations for Dallas & Los Angeles…” I feel compelled as an Arlington resident to point out that the Big 12 title game will be played in our fair city, not that snooty, big-hair-and-fake-tits Poserville to the east. Arlington is very touchy about this subject (its motto is, after all, “We’re nobody’s damn suburb!”) City Hall blows a gasket every time the TV announcers say “Welcome back to Cowboys Stadium in Dallas!”. Of course, the city has no discernible downtown district, no discernible nightlife and no discernible identity, other than the place that voted to cough up countless millions in tax money to make itself the pro sports and amusement park capital of the country.
Oh, and we have almost no decent hotels, so you’d might as well make your reservations in Dallas anyway. Carry on.

Times have changed. You mention the biggest one in your post — Cowboys Stadium, emphasis on the “Cowboys.” College football is not the only game in town anymore, and hasn’t been for 50 years. And college tickets aren’t exactly cheap, either — they’re not an impulse buy…. you have to want to go.
burnt orange outrage said:

Bob,
No doubt the Cowboys are serious competition for fans’ dollars, as they have been for decades, and Jerrah’s shiny new convertible stadium is worth the trip for the gawk factor alone, but the average working guy can’t afford it, unless he wants to pay $29 to stand on one of the end zone platforms and end up watching the game on the Goliathtron b/c he can’t see the field. No thanks.
I just find it hard to believe that with the area’s population (Fort Worth 720,000, Dallas over 1.2 million, Metroplex over 6.4 million), TCU can’t fill Amon Carter a few times a year. $35 is their top ticket price this season. A family of 4 can get GA end zone seats for under $100. I know that’s still not chump change, but compare that to trying to see the Cowboys — where the cheapest seats are $75 and they’re so far from the field you can barely make out jersey numbers. Then the prices go $99, $129, $149, $179 and $239. And don’t forget the $40-$75 parking, $8 beers and $16 BBQ sandwiches.
All this to say that I’m just disappointed for the Frog players/coaches that a team that good can’t play in front of a packed house every time they’re home. That program has been very solid for the past decade — 6 top 25 finishes since 2000, and they’re sitting at BCS. No. 6 this morning. What the hell else do they need to do?
BatesHorn said:

You can buy tickets to a TCU game for $15. They should sell out if price and quality of product are the only considerations. I think it has more to do with the fact that TCU is a private school, and the general public doesn’t get behind private schools in the same way they do large state institutions. Combine this with the fact they play in a conference where the closest school is two states away (Colorado St. I think) and you’ve got your explanation.
