Texas gets into the online auction business

Posted by HenryJames on October 27th, 2009 under Football

According to TexasSports.com UT’s online auction site will have ’special memorabilia from facilities and sporting events.’

First item up for bid is the first Texas flag to fly over the Frank Denius Veterans Memorial Plaza.

Future items will hopefully include the Post-it note on which Greg Davis has written all of his running plays and the unused industrial sized bottle of Purell currently sitting in Colt McCoy’s locker.

I’ll start the bidding for Muschamp’s bloodied headset at “name your price”

  2. Let me know when they put the glass fragments passed by Jeff Leiding on the block.

Chris Simms’ peripheral vision and footwork — both unused, like new! — will be offered in one lot.

  4. I like where this thread is going.

I will bid $31 for the jersey Cory Redding wore when he played linebacker.

  6. Let’s pool our resources and buy Cedric Benson’s plasma TV.

  7. Let’s buy the five pounds of weed in Ramonce Taylor’s backpack before the cops find it.

Shoes worn by James Henry used to kick bitches. Valued at “cash, cell phones and gaming equipment.”

  9. I think we should sell Kyle Field. Between the salvage value of the metal, the concrete going for landfill, and alternative-energy companies securing the largest quantity of guano north of the Galapagos, we could make a killing.

  10. Halloween costume: one big scary inflatable Bevo, looks like herbie husker with horns, for outside use only! Will throw in “The Bat” costume. Both lightly worn.

  11. I would prefer the infamous orange “evil Bevo” costume if it is available. That thing was awesome.

  12. Ron Weaver will bid $100 for Ron McKelvey’s birth certificate

  13. I’ll buy the Freddie Steinmark Memorial Scoreboard. They can’t expect to get much for that no-revenue-producing relic.

Where does the bidding start on Shane Dronett’s NAACP application?

Jinx, tell me about that one, I don’t recall it.

  16. They should just sell the items that other teams have left on the field at DKR…
I’m sure someone would bid two bits for a the Tech kicker’s facemask and half pint of snot extracted by Tony Brackens.

One game used Cat Osterman sports bra. Preferably from a humid night.

  19. dasmith: I looked on google to find a picture but came up empty as expected.

I don’t know where it came from or where it went, but for a short period there was this all orange mascot with black eyes that would show up at Texas basketball games with Hook ‘em. It was straight out of some longhorn horror movie. We dubbed it evil Bevo.

Anyone else remember that thing? I would give anything for a photo.

How do you see them progresing in the tourney?

Avery Bradley, who shot 77% from the foul line in high school and is now shooting 47% at Texas would probably be shooting closer to his high school average if he played at Duke.

Now that the recruiting season is over and most Cal fans are waxing poetic (along with some Texas fans) about how great these 17-18 year olds will be, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at recruiting rankings as a potential measurement for future success.

I really don’t want to repeat the horrid situation of the past few years where we starved for depth and talent at DT. It’s critical not to let defensive line recruiting slip. That said, if we bring in two tackles and two ends this year that would be 21 scholarships used on the

It appears as though the dude is committed to raiding the SEC and ignoring the West Coast.

It’s understandable, with the way that recruiting is generally territory based. Isaiah Crowell, the RB we’ve been linked to, goes to Columbus Carver. That’s an Auburn pipeline school. Still, I can’t imagine that recruitment lasting much

Thoughts? I think that’s a damn good write up.

Other than that, root for Willie Warren to be healthy because he screws up Oklahoma’s chemistry. Everything else can be found in your report. Maintain contact with Cade Davis on defense and don’t let TMG go buck wild.

The OL from New Mexico is Matt Hagerty, with a “g”. He’s on pretty much every national top 100 list that I’ve seen so far.

USC fans are dismayed that Westerman is coming our junior day.

Going into the game you would have thought the battle would have been a classic matchup between West Virginia’s frontcourt and Villanova’s backcourt.

The only question is which team could impose their will and dictate the mismatch. Villanova might try to do it by pressing and playing up tempo. West Virginia’s

We know Junior Day #1 is this Saturday. There’s flux in regard to who will and won’t be on the roster come the 2010 season, but let’s assume the numbers don’t really matter, as a whole bunch of seniors leave after 2010 and attrition will take place as well.

So your number is 25 max.

    What positions

Fundamentally on both sides of the ball we are very weak. On defense we are athletic but don’t really understand when to pressure the ball or double team. Many times we over persue at a time when the offensive player is not in a dangerous position and end up giving up an easy
