This really has been a great start. It’s pretty exciting to see dark horse teams winning by playing solid basketball rather than just shooting the lights out. 4 year players are so key.

I think your overall point is a good one. Barnes is a “system” guy especially defensively, which plays into how he overall plays the game. He wants to play a high pressure, overplay man2man scheme predicated on effort, good technique and overall quickness. Similar to Duke, but even Coach K (in fairness

What a glorious, glorious day of basketball at the Ford Center Saturday.
First, Ali Ali Farokhmanesh and all the other Panthers with cool names took down Kansas as Sherron Collins made his best effort to shed that “clutch” label on the last game of his collegiate career. Then of course, Kansas State waved goodbye to Jimmer

Both teams are unselfish and preach sharing the ball. A&M is a balanced scoring team. Sloan showed in the first round against Utah State, for example, that he can defer when his teammates have things going. Purdue once again will have to rely on JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore to produce, and hope

CAl is overrated but will not stumble this weekend against a bad Oregon team.
I think Miami should be at number 3 followed by Texas. The game with VT will be interesting.
I think Ole Miss and TCU will fall from the ranks of the unbeaten this weekend. Could Penn State be exposed as an overrated outfit as some suggest this weekend by a gritty Iowa team?
Arkansas will be interesting to watch this year as they beat a few teams. Do they have enough defense and can they score enough to scare Alabama?

Man, I love Texas, but i don’t think they belong in the top 8. Offensively, they don’t know who they are. Colt 09 is nothing compared to Colt 08— why i don’t know, but it’s plain for everyone to see. TV commentators are scared to say it, becuz he’s such a good guy—- But he’s not the same guy.
Last year the team had MOJO! It was a surprise, it was a shock, but that was the year to cash in. This year’s expectations ruins the mojo—– it is just ruined. Last year the offense was in some sort of beautiful synch. you can’t prepare for that, you can’t practice that—it just happens and you better cash in when you feel it. We blew it when Shipley dropped that bomb at Tech, when Gideon goofed the easiest interception, when thomas couldn’t push a man out of bounds.

I’ve been thinking that the top 25 needs to go back to being the top 20, or maybe even the top 10. There aren’t enough good football teams to honor 25 with being ranked…

If Texas had played UNT we would’ve been just as dominant as Bama. We should not be punished for playing a decent opponent.
As far as Colt goes, I agree. He is more like Colt of 07 than of 08. However… how much of that is due to the flu??? Arguably he could’ve had it during the Wyoming game… The flu normally doesn’t JUST effect you for 4-5 days.

“College football is fortunate that Brian Kelly doesn’t have Tressel’s job.”
Amen. Kelly is a damn fine football coach and would wreck shop with tOSU’s resources – namely, an extremely gifted QB that has been handcuffed and shell shocked by tightass Tressel.

I realize that Colt does not appear as sharp as he was last year, but then again to complete 80% of your passes TWO years in a row would have me wondering just how often the devil got so screwed on soul purchasing. But, to say a player is in “free fall” after they complete 70 % of their passes is a little extreme. JMO
I would be the first to say that it would appear that there are times when Colt is “pressing” a little bit and perhaps should throw the ball away instead of taking a sack ESPECIALLY when he has held the ball for five seconds. Eventually the pocket is going to break down no matter how good the OL is or how bad the DL is. But there is something to be said for having a player think that they can “will” a succesful outcome. Playing with confidence is one of the most important atttibutes a player can have.

Miami has about as much business being in the top five at this juncture as Scipio Tex has in coaching someone’s offensive line. lol.
VaTech will beat Miami in Blacksburg and OU will absolutely annihilate them the next week in Miami.

Bama and Florida are on a collision course. Being #3 is basically being #2.
Most years we wouldn’t look like a top 5 team, but I don’t know who is better, so #3 works for me.
Miami has every right to be #5 based on the way they’ve played. They have the chance to prove just how good they are in two weeks. They’re gonna fuck Tech up this week. Tech, like Ga. is always over ranked.
Nice to see U-Dub in the top 25. I was skeptical of Sarkisian at first. So far he has definitely impressed. That out pass that Locker threw was the best pass I saw all weekend.

Yeah, the same VaTech team that had to go to the last minute to beat Nebraska.
VaTech was looking ahead to Miami when they played the somewhat underrated Huskers (who are playing extremely hard under Pellini, btw) and it nearly cost them.
