I just can’t see how USC can be ranked so high, especially to have them in front of OU. I hate the sooners as much as anyone but I also understand that they’re going to be a pretty good football team. They have more answers and less questions than the Trojans do. I know USC has a great number of talented football players on their team but until I see it on the field I just can imagine ranking them so high.

  2. “13 Notre Dame ”

    Full retard.

  3. Unt-uh..

  4. Look at the 12 teams ranked after the golden domers and tell me which one loses to ND on a neutral field.

    That’s what I thought.

Notre Dame could play nothing but Sun Belt teams and Penn State would still have a better chance at making the BCS. 16 is too low for the fighting Paternos.

    also, 6 ACC teams? Really?

  7. USC above OU is fine. Replacing a QB is easier than 4/5 of the starting o-line, and who on USC’s schedule has a better chance at beating them than we have of beating OU?

  8. please get clemson out of my top 25. what a disgrace. georgia at #8 doesn’t jive either.

  9. I’ll buy Georgia in the Top 15 simply because they have to be healthier than last season.

  10. Every time I get a chance to get in the game, someone calls the wrong play.

With the loss of their starting RB, I don’t see Va Tech as a top 10 team. Tyrod Taylor is not going to win games with his arm, and this team will struggle to put 10 points on the board in any given game. Last year was one of Beamer’s best coaching jobs, and he will have to repeat for this team to win 9 games.

  12. Lou Holtz on ESPN radio said ND would play Florida for the title. How he ever won a game as a coach despite his mental retardation speaks volumes for the quality of his assistant coaches.

  13. ACC v. SEC said:

When will the debate start? Damn media ACC bias. Riley Skinner has pretty much already been anointed Heisman winner…..

Just bowl game results show the “ranked” ACC teams going 2 for 6?

    With the only wins being:
Florida St. over a 7-5 Wiconsin team that was regularly drubbed by anyone with a heartbeat in the Big 10 and some without….. Michigan, Iowa I’m looking at you…

    and

    V. Tech over a Cincinnati team that was crushed by OU and UConn …. yes you can read that outloud to yourself again Cincinnati lost 40-16 to UConn.

That’s a bit too much Top 25 love for a less than awe inspiring conference.

    La..La…Loooooou Ho..Holtz iz ma..ma.. daaddeee.

  15. I see Notre Dame winning when I go to bed in my head movies…

  16. I love power polls. Unfortunately, they mean nothing in the real world.

If USC loses twice against a schedule that has trips to Columbus, South Bend, Eugene, Berkeley and Tempe, and Boise or Utah goes 12-0 (beating nobody), who do you think will be ranked higher? And how much would USC beat that 12-0 team by.

  17. Scipio’s power pole goes from the ground floor of his condo all the way to the sky balcony.

  18. I think the ACC is pretty well placed in the poll. Last year they were a conference that was loaded with second-level teams and no powers at the top. That’s pretty much reflected here.

  19. Where’s TCU?

  20. Southern Miss ahead of KU amuses me, if only because people continue to bash KU’s non-con schedule. Don’t get me wrong, the N.Colo game is a joke (supposed to be) but at least Duke is a BCS school (ok, kinda) and playing at UTEP won’t be a cake walk… That being said, I still think KU gets in both polls between 20-25 (if not 17-20 or so) by the time conference games start… my 2 pesos.

I have continued to try and give the newspapers I have read for so long a chance to redeem themselves, but no longer. I guess some old habits just take a long while to get out of your system. This site (and to a lesser extent other Texas sites) have made it pointless to try and get any Texas Football related joy from them any longer. As I was reading today, an overwhelming pity for the traditional football printed media just washed over me. It was a fleeting emotion as I clicked over here to find dependable relief. What freedom I will now enjoy going forward never feeling to need to waste time with them again!

    Hook ‘em!

    Barnes’ three “strengths”:

    Defense, rebounding, recruiting.

This team just proved the first two are non-existent (out-rebounded by 25; fucking KIDDING me?) and the last one is over-hyped as well. Every ESPN basketball recruiting analyst who actually had Bradley ahead of Wall should be taken out back and executed Inglourious Basterds style.

    I hate Turgeon and I

a Good System will usually beat a talented team that does not play together and are thinking instead of playing basketball ,over a season the system wins more then they will give away.
A team that is scared to make a mistake and thinks before they react is going to lose to a confident but

    Nordberg,

    Ironic indeed……teachable moment, I guess….

    NY Horn,

I hope your drunk, because Izzo ain’t coming to Texas……Why don’t we just get Coach K. I mean Coach G came from Duke, they have to be dying to get out of Durham….

Egg, that’s fine, but at what point do you blame Barnes? Seriously, man. You’ve thrown players under the bus left and right, but at a certain point, doesn’t the buck stop somewhere. I know you’re more of an NBA guy so it begins and ends with players there, but we need fucking

    Trips,

I hear ya. I’m frustrated as well. I guess I just don’t prescribe to such a black and white characterization of the situation. I do know that no matter what happened in the huddle, JCB made a dumb play. If Rick didn’t explain or remind him of the situation, then I

Pat, know I don’t, but I’ve had coaches draw up plays to free up the best foul shooter and then tell that guy they’d put their foot up his ass if they passed the ball. It’s funny, but as a fans of football we nitpick blitz pickup and shit like that. Shit that’s

Shitty season…..Rick needs to hire some offensive help and someone needs to say it to him. Deloss?

  • Patrick Bateman commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 1 minute ago

    Trips,

Do you know that he didn’t? JCB has made bad decision all season, why would this be any different. Barnes coached a shitastic game, but on the teams I was the best FT shooter, I never game up the ball unless it was an uncontested layup…..It’s not hard and it doesn’t take a

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 1 minute ago

mcpayne, yes, you don’t leave that shit to chance. You don’t let your guys break the huddle or dead ball not knowing precisely what’s expected from them. Barnes doesn’t get 2 mil for coaching PE where he’s hoping the right guy gets fouled.

  • uthookem commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 3 minutes ago

mpayne, I’d agree with you if J’Covan had been playing all season and had been in situations to make that decision. Like, you know, against Baylor, when he played all of 3 fucking minutes thanks to rick.

So yes, it is rick’s fault.

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 3 minutes ago

With 15 seconds left, out of a dead ball, most coaches would make it perfectly clear who they wanted to be fouled.

Stupid decisions by Brown are one of the reasons he sat on the bench for most of the season…lack of coaching maybe, or just a lack of basketball IQ?

Oh well, if Brown doesn’t go off in the 2nd half, we aren’t even playing in OT. Too bad he didn’t get much of a chance

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 6 minutes ago

Pat, if you were making 2 million a year, would you leave that up to chance?

  • Patrick Bateman commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 7 minutes ago

Actually, if your a PG and the best FT shooter on the team and played basketball your entire life, you’d pretty much know not to give up the ball if you had any brains…..Such a dumb play…..

  • D W commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 8 minutes ago

Oh, and a stupid decision by Brown in giving up the ball to Johnson.

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 8 minutes ago

Be nice if we’d coached our 90 percent foul shooter not to give the ball up.

1 for 2, that was not shitty defense……

Well if you had read it all the way, you would’ve noticed this little tidbit:

In the second part I’ll do my best to give an outline of what exactly is wrong with the program, what we can do to fix it, and then what will probably happen TO fix it.

The line kills us, as it should have.

Fuck Rick Barnes, as this was the worst coaching I have seen in all my years of watching UT sports.

This saved us from Kentucky, but I feel bad for Damo, he was a hell of a Longhorn.

    Hook ‘em!

    And FUCK RICK BARNES!

  • Patrick Bateman commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 9 minutes ago

Feel bad for Damion…..Dexter and Mason, not so much….

  • D W commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 9 minutes ago

So the season ends with missed free throws and shitty defense by Bradley. Pretty fitting.

  • Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 11 minutes ago

Why does Brown give it up there?

  • Patrick Bateman commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread   5 hours, 12 minutes ago

Bilas explaining why we’re not a smart team…Oh good, I want Gary at the line…

The good news is that now I know to fill out the census, so i’m not going to jail…not for that anyway.
