Ian Harris out for the year

Posted by HenryJames on August 19th, 2009 under Football

Reoccurring stingers according to the official release.

“I’ve been dealing with the stinger for a while, and each time I came back, it would happen again,” Harris said. “After talking to the team doctors, we decided it would be best for me to take this year off, rehab and focus on getting healthy. It’s been frustrating but injuries are a part of the game. I’m still going to be around the team and I’ll help coach Chambers, the tight ends and the team in anyway I can.”

We’re now down to only 4-6 tight ends.

Oh, it just got real.

Pardon me, but does anyone have the dorm room number of one Barrett Matthews?

  8. Ahmard Howard looks the part. I hope it translates on the field.

Actually, I expect we’ll see quite a bit of Dan Buckner in this role now.

  9. If I was in the program, I’d volunteer for wedge-buster, try kick-blocking, and ask to stand next to Coach Boom when he gets excitable before playing tight end.

  22. Hey, john. Our running game has been great for years. Just look at the stats you moron.

We were 53rd in the nation last year in adjusted total rushing per carry. Which reminds me, I need to add the total rushing and passing numbers to the team pages.

“Hey, john. Our running game has been great for years. Just look at the stats you moron.”

Before you criticize, you should learn a little more about football and understand his point is that our recent running successes have largely emanated from great run blocking up front by the tight ends. Last year the TE suffered and last year the running game suffered. Don’t be so condescending when you don’t know what you are talking about…

  24. blocking surfaces definitely improve the running game.

Hey Huck, can you refresh my memory here. What is the “adjustment” that is made to get Adjusted rushing stats? Is it just removing the QB sacks? I seem to recall there was more than just that.

  26. houstonearlers said:

Probably removing sacks and “team” rushes — which are kneel downs running out the clock.

Maybe it removes lost yardage from jumping on fumbles as well — which would make sense — otherwise your stats would look better by letting the other team jump on the ball.

Wow – tough luck here. I imagine all the players are dreading the tap on the shoulder “coach wants you to play TE”. Given your track record that is scarier than “coach wants to see you, bring your play book”.

  28. I wonder who’d win in a cage fight between the Mack Brown curse and the Texas TE Curse.
