Barnes’ three “strengths”:
Defense, rebounding, recruiting.
This team just proved the first two are non-existent (out-rebounded by 25; fucking KIDDING me?) and the last one is over-hyped as well. Every ESPN basketball recruiting analyst who actually had Bradley ahead of Wall should be taken out back and executed Inglourious Basterds style.

mcpayne, yes, you don’t leave that shit to chance. You don’t let your guys break the huddle or dead ball not knowing precisely what’s expected from them. Barnes doesn’t get 2 mil for coaching PE where he’s hoping the right guy gets fouled.
-
uthookem commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread 3 hours, 34 minutes ago
mpayne, I’d agree with you if J’Covan had been playing all season and had been in situations to make that decision. Like, you know, against Baylor, when he played all of 3 fucking minutes thanks to rick.
So yes, it is rick’s fault.

Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread 3 hours, 34 minutes ago
With 15 seconds left, out of a dead ball, most coaches would make it perfectly clear who they wanted to be fouled.

Stupid decisions by Brown are one of the reasons he sat on the bench for most of the season…lack of coaching maybe, or just a lack of basketball IQ?
Oh well, if Brown doesn’t go off in the 2nd half, we aren’t even playing in OT. Too bad he didn’t get much of a chance

It’s interesting they still bring this up after beating OU. That means the Sooners must have done some inordinately dirty things or at least more so than the typical eye gouging, shit talking, etc.
I doubt Florida is going to winning any sportsmanship awards either.
This is why you always want guys like Kasey Studdard and Lyle Sendlein on your team.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not entirely disputing the premise that OU was playing dirty, but there just might be a few things going into Spikes’ statement that are being left out by Trips, which is really just shocking.
1) Spikes spent a large majority of the night getting knocked on his ass by Trent Williams.
2) Spikes actually took a swing at said Trent Williams. This can be found on Youtube.
3) IIRC, Spikes was the guy assigned to cover Jermaine Gresham. Mr. Gresham was the source of all of OU’s points that night. If something productive happened in the red zone, Gresham was involved.
4) Nic Harris is a fantastic guy off the field, but a complete jackass on it from multiple accounts. I’m pretty sure he’s from Louisiana, so there’s that.
5) Didn’t Florida win that game? And he’s still bitching?
flamingmonkeyass said:

I agree with Nate. While I don’t question that OU played dirty in that game (or any other for that matter) – I don’t think Brandon Spikes should be talking shit about anyone being dirty. I imagine the only reason he even brought Oklahoma into the discussion was because when they asked him who the “dirtiest” players on his team were, his initial answer of “Other than myself?” seemed improper.

How many players have been arrested on the Florida team in the last couple years? (under the great leader Tim Tebow no less) I don’t doubt that this Florida squad has a few of its own dirty players.

Except Williams obviously purposely changes directions to slam down on top of Williams’ head. Evidence of that purpose can be drawn from the lack of reaction to getting punched.

Ballrific is still obviously a retard, and TxTower still is close behind. Good to see nothing’s changed. YouTuber, you’re now in the group of morons. Congrats.
Let’s go through what three UT fans of wildly limited intelligence missed. This could be a long post. It’s much like trying to explain the BCS to Mack Brown. (Stop scheduling directional state, and you’ll do better)
1) “Except Williams obviously purposely changes directions to slam down on top of Williams’ head.”
Williams landed on his own head? BRILLIANT. Assuming you meant Spikes’ head, let’s move on.
Take a hard look at #74 on this play. Obviously observation isn’t the strong suit of any of the three of you, so I’ll draw it in crayon.
This is why I didn’t dispute the OU playing dirty claim entirely. Brian Simmons shoved Spikes in the back and right under Williams’ feet. That should’ve been called on Simmons.
Williams tries to avoid stepping on Williams’ throat by going around him. Legs go out, body goes down.
2) “Evidence of that purpose can be drawn from the lack of reaction to getting punched.”
Thank you, Sherlock. You’re wrong, and ignorant, but thanks. Clearly you never played football, so I’m going to explain something else to you. The first thing you’re taught about retaliation on a football field is that the guy who throws the first punch never gets flagged. The guy who throws the second punch ALWAYS gets flagged. Spikes throws the first punch at 0:07 on the video. By 0:08, the umpire is within 10 feet of them walking straight to them to break it up. If Williams reacts in any way, he gets flagged.
Don’t let logic and analysis get in the way of good old fashioned OU hate, though.

“Williams tries to avoid stepping on Williams’ throat by going around him. Legs go out, body goes down.”
Take off the rose colored glasses Nate and you can see better. Williams isn’t tring to avoid anything amnd his legsa didn’t just “go out”. It’s obvious he was targeting Spikes while he was on the ground (presumably to keep him there) and wound up giving him a piledriver. It was blatantly intentional. That’s why Spikes was pissed and thats why he retaliated and shoved Williams. Anything else is pure crimson and cream fantasy.

Am I the only one who sees Williams throw his arm around Spikes’ neck before he goes down? Between that and the elbow to the neck, I think I might come up swinging, too.
