This is what made this season so bizarre for me. This has never been a problem for Barnes’ teams. But I actually questioned this team’s heart and desire to play together

Travis Ford spent the 2nd half channeling his inner Rick Barnes — lot’s of standing around on offense while one player tries to generate something off a ball screen — then taking a forced shot.
So the Big 12 goes 5-2 in Round One.

This is the worst coached team ever in Barnes era. Period.
Worst defense over the whole season,
Offense sucked big time and the bench coaching was horrible, ransom’s attitude was better then the coach’s overall this season.
Trips write up pre and post better then the game plan and O schemes.

Mike Leach and Craig James were apparently in the same room this week and nobody wrestled. Bummer. Leach

So far on Day Two, no buzzer beaters, but there was the obligatory #12 over #5 with Cornell thumping Temple 78-65, but the Ivy League school was everyone’s “inside” pick for an upset. Still the day hasn’t come close to generating the action that Thursday had.

I wasn’t trying to say they quit. They just didn’t play hard a lot of the time. Lazy = lack of effort. Example, our transition defense was about 75% effort and 25% stupidity. We loafed down court a lot. The kids didn’t like to lose so they would fight back,

This the most disappointing team because our talent level is higher than those others.
The DGib/Buckman team was the least talented, barely, after the injury to LaMarcus and Tucker’s suspension.
Last year’s team was the hardest to watch. Just watching AJ Abrams, who I don’t hate as much as most, run around like a

Great work all year long. Love the passion. The fact that you kept writing these (even around the birth of a child), is fantastic, shows your commitment, and is a little freaky. :-)
I think you showed great restraint in this post. It would have been easier to “go off” on Barnes.

While in today’s world leaving college sounds ill-advised, you have to remember that the Depression made any job an attractive proposition.

I have to agree with Earl T on this one. He got it 180 degrees wrong on Tet. The US military anihilated the Viet Cong as a military force and seriously damaged the NVA. He attended, but never graduated from UT, why was he featured as a great alumni? He had a great baritone voice, a calm serious demeanor and a long career as television developed into the dominant medium, but I would not rate him very high a journalist. I’m sorry for his family’s loss but let’s not start building any shrines in Austin to the man.

Earl T and texexinwa,
Cronkite will be missed for many reasons. From a journalism and news media standpoint he was professional, courageous, and the voice of a generation.
Unlike many talking heads in today’s media he had depth. He was a real person with real opinions and never took himself too serious.
We should be damn proud of his association with our University. If your narrative is that he “lost a damn war for us” then well….. you have the right to your opinion.

Maybe they can get the guy who used to be “Tex” (the telephone enrollment exchange!) to do future commercials. He had a great voice.

In what alternate universe are you living?
“Real depth”" WTF is that? He was a friggin’ news reader, just like all the pretty boys and girls today! If he was a true journalist, he should not have been offering opinions on newscasts, particularly personally biased ones based upon false presumptions (”Tet was a draw”—the NVA/VC lost 58,000 troops and were devistated! NVA Commanding Gen. Giap admitted they got their asses kicked and were ready to surrender, until Uncle Walter misled America on the situation “in-country” and caused a loss in faith.)
Man’s got American blood on his hands—not opinion—FACT!
May he R.I.H.!!!

Walter Cronkite lost us the Vietnam War. Seriously? I don’t care if you’re a vet, a R.O.T.C., fancy yourself a student of war, have read Vo Nguyen Giap’s autobiography or watch the Military History Channel, your claim is ridiculous. Read David Halberstam’s the Best and the Brightest; or Neil Sheehan’s A Bright Shining Lie. I think they’re in a better position to make that call than you are.
Everyone knows the Tet Offensive was a tactical victory, this fact is undisputed. The fact is the N.V.A. and Viet Cong were able to coordinate the logistics of a grand attack on multiple theaters and completely surprise the U.S. military. The enemy suffered significant, but not irreplaceable casualties, and this is the salient point: Anything we added could be matched. Walter Cronkite didn’t call it defeat, he called it stalemate, much closer to the mark than the ’snatching defeat from the jaws of victory’ line your throwing us.
