Loss in Waco = Win in Kansas City?
Tonight the Bears get their second crack of the year at Kansas State. The first time we played K State in Waco, we managed to lose the game despite being more efficient than K State offensively. While K State did outshoot us by 9%, and outrebounded us 36-32,

That’s a good choice, but UNC was so good that Ty didn’t stand out as much as he should have.
Mateen Cleaves, Khalid El Amin, Ty Edney, those were some other tournament war daddies that come to mind along with Lawson.

Yeah, but here’s the thing — you have to have some way to resolve draws. Endless extra time is impractical, because these games are played in the midst of regular league and domestic cup features — you just can’t play that much extar football. Penalty shots are even more arbitrary than away goals.

HenryJames,
I can recall the Hawgs and Ags playing at the end of the season and in typical Aggie fashion it is a doozy.
In 1975 Texas and A&M met in a big showdown game in College Station. Ballard had gone to A&M to rebuild the program and the game featured #5 Texas at 9-1 versus #2 A&M at 9-0. The Ags end up winning the game on national television 20-10 (I remember the Texas quarterback being taken out with a low hit on an option play.) and the Ags are poised to run the table. Finish the season at 11-0, win the conference outright, and have a show for a national title.
How do they respond in the national spotlight next week in Little Rock you ask? They get smoked 31-6 and then finish the season strong by getting shut out 20-0 by USC in the Liberty Bowl.
Only a true Aggie I guess would want to remember such a great moment in their history, but we are talking about a school that post landmark losses on their website.

Bubba Bean sounds like a good guy. And he definitely has one of the better quotes about Earl Campbell.
“You didn’t have to watch Earl play,” Bean said, “you could close your eyes and hear him.”
R Fourie said:
July 15th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Bubba Bean was a good back; had a few pretty decent years for the Falcons and then tore up a knee I believe.
Marty Akins had hurt his knee the previous week against TCU. Lot’s of speculation leading up to the aggy game as to his readiness. On the 2nd play of the game Akins runs the standard wishbone halfback pitch option and Pat Thomas ignores the pitchman and dives right at Akins’ knees. Ted Constanzo plays the rest of the game in what looks like slow motion and we get our only TD on a Ray Clayborne punt return. Sweet, sweet retribution one week later though, as Capt. Obv. has related. Interestingly, the Hogs provided a similar service a few years later, hammering OU in the Orange Bowl for a major upset to take some of the sting off the Cotton Bowl loss to Notre Dame.
Captain Obvious said:
July 15th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
R Fourie, Thanks for filling in the details on Marty Akins. All I could remember was the Horns’ qb getting hurting, a replay being run, and things going down hill for the Horns quickly on offense.
I think that Ag offense also had Carl Roaches at SE, but I can’t recall if big George Woodard (makes Jevorskie look like a slacker at the training table) was the fullback.
Also seem to remember that the Ags were to start off the next year with a big game at Michigan that was nationally televised and they got fuck stomped 42-3.

Obviously you were not in attendance at the game and I again ask the question why didn’t a #5 ranked team have a backup QB ? It is contact sport after all.
Let’s see the knees are off limits and so is the chinstrap so where exactly are we supposed to hit Colt? (I know that hitting him at all is a huge asumption)
