Early College Football Betting Lines

Posted by Trips Right on June 30th, 2009 under Football

Courtesy of the Golden Nugget.

Games I really like are Texas-3 vs. OU, tOSU +6.5 vs. USC, Notre Dame +1 at Pitt, Baylor +7 at Texas Tech.

A couple of interesting double digit home dogs. Miami +10 at home vs. OU. Notre Dame +10 vs. USC.

Another game of interest. Texas -21.5 at TAMU. If you like Texas here, jump on it now, because this line has no where to go but up. I might play this early and try to middle it when the line goes to 27.5.

Here are the rest.

texas -17 Tech. Give the 17 and parlay that with the 5/1 odds that Tim will not be on this board on September 20.

texas -7 OSU. I would not touch this one. At least I would not bet on Texas.

  6. wow. can’t believe they have all these games up already. i <3 college football.

  7. This is so typical Trips Right talking like he knows about what the lines are when all he did was read somebody else’s take and then act like it’s all his own. Know it all bullshit is all he has. I talked to my cousin’s friend Danny Sheridan and he said that Boise State favored over Oregon is THE CRAZIEST FUCKING THING HE’S EVER HEARD!!!1! And I talked to David Chan – he’s a credentialed Covers.com handicapping expert, bitch – and he agreed. Seriously, Boise State over Oregon IS THE DUMBEST THING EVER SAID IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!!!1!

    It’s closer to a pick’em.

Normally, I’d be willing to go Benedict Arnold and put money on UT for that game in October. But the gaping hole at DT is just way too much of an X-factor. I’m staying hands-off on that one until I see a bit more. If the OU OL turns out to be a 2005-esque sieve, then it’s a non-issue.

Is Arkansas 2 td’s better than A&M? Don’t they both suck?

  10. LSU is going to take Arkansas to the shed as well. Give me some Tigers -8 right fucking now.

  11. The wrong team is favored in the UNC/NC State game.

    I like UNC straight up.

Also Minny + 9 against Iowa. That’s two quarters worth of points in the Big 10.

Nebraska -6 covers against CU. The Huskers should reassert themselves as the Big 12 North fave under Pelini. And that’s how it should be damnit.

  13. That +17 Texas v. Tech will come down before kick-off.

Oklahoma State only gets -3 at home vs. Georgia, but Georgia only gets -2.5 vs Arkansas? The only explanation for this is that vegas thinks Arkansas is going to be a lot better than everyone else thinks they are. Not good news for Aggie not good news at all.

  14. That’s a really good point Tim. I like LSU vs. Arkansas because it’s a double revenge spot for the Tigers vs. a 1st year starter at QB.

  15. I’m all over Cal +8.5 against USC.

The Oklahoma State -3 vs. UGA will make that only the second game in which Georgia has been an underdog in a non-conference game under Richt. (The other game was Georgia Tech (-2.5) in 2001, Richt’s first year.)

  28. [...] Georgia’s a 16 point underdog for the WLOCP.  And a one point dog at Tech.  (And make sure you check out the line for Florida-Tennessee.) [...]

  29. Lane is about to have his manhood handed to him on a teaspoon.

Okie St is basically getting the home field points in the opener. I am assuming Vegas knows Richt’s road record?!?!

    1031 GEORGIA TECH
    1032 MIAMI (FL) -4
At first this one seems like a head scratcher, but lets investigate more. This will be GT’s second Thurs game in a row and on the road. Tough to win back to back Thursday games.

    1127 VIRGINIA TECH
    1128 GEORGIA TECH -6
Seems a little high right now, considering GT is underdog to Miami and FSU. GT getting 2-3 points besides the home field.

    1157 GEORGIA @JACKSONVL, FL
    1158 FLORIDA -16
I could see this one being -6 or -26. Again, depends on Meyer’s motivation.

    1219 GEORGIA
    1220 GEORGIA TECH -1
Basically saying on a neutral site that UGA wins. Early lean to GT on this one. Martinez won’t have it “figured out” by then.

DO NOT BET ON UGA TO WIN!! As a responsible human being I feel the need to warn everyone about uga. Willie Martinez’s defense is embarrasing. Remember the gators, tide, and yellow jackets scored 150 points on his defense and they don’t have an offense that can score near that many. Remember, you were warned!

  32. the two that i really like is texas -17 vs tech, they are going to be so motivated after last year what happened and tech is starting over, next one is lsu +11 vs florida, they are playing a night game in tiger stad. with a real qb this year, they might lose but not by more than 11, especially if uf is undefeated, they will have so much pressure

  33. also oh st +6 vs usc might be worth picking, usc usually starts the year off slow, and they are rebuilding their defense, and oh st has an athletic qb now, but i would probably want to see how usc looks before that just to make sure

  34. UGA +3 over Oklahoma State. Book it.

Oregon is going into Boise all nice and pissed off about hearing how good the Broncos will be and motivated by the embarrassment of last year’s debacle. Ducks by AT LEAST 10.

  35. Also, watch out for Nevada to not only cover +17 at ND, but the Wolfpack may straight up win that game. Clausen will not be the best QB on the field…

  36. There are a few games I like. I like Okalahoma State in week 1 over Georgia, Michigan plus the points vs ND in week 2. Michigan played a much better game than the score would indicate last season. It was sloppy conditions and a ton of turnovers for the Wolverines. Also, USC is down to -3 at OSU in week 2. I would wait and see if that drops to -2.5 or better and take the Trojans there.

Our hoops team is the basketball version of Major League.

    Jake Taylor = Damion James
    Pedro Cerrano = Dexter Pittman
Willie Mays Hays = Avery Bradley
    Roger Dorn = Justin Mason
Isuro Tanaka (Major League II) = Dogus Balbay
Rube Baker (Major Leauge II) = Jordan Hamilton

EP, I get your point, but I don’t think the fact that Texas hasn’t won a tourney came as an underdog doesn’t support it. Teams are favored because they are better. The odds that they win are greater than those who are not favored. It’s not like Texas goes into games with a secret weapon

I don’t think it’s a case of RB not being able to coach, or doing a poor job of coaching. If you read the entirety of Katz’ blog post, he clearly sounds like a coaching searching for answers — answers that come in the form of players contributing, doing what they are coached to do.

    TP welcome to the network.

I like how you broke this down, and identified which positions history shows a high star ranking has proven to be important. I personally feel that after what all the recruiting sites dub their top players that there is a major falloff. We all love that the recruiting sites bring

I don’t think we have to win the SEC tourny necessarily. If we make it to the SEC Tourny championship game and have won about 20 games, I would say a tourny bid would look likely. But that is a pretty big task. I know no one cares about the NIT, but that wouldnt be
