With only Game Three of the championship series left to play, all games pitting an Eastern team versus a Western team have been decided.

A review of the results from this season:
In the tournament, Green was 27-14 against Red for a .659 winning percentage.
The last four teams standing are all from the green.
Three super regionals matched Green against Red. Green swept all three (Arizona St. over Clemson, Cal St.-Fullerton over Louisville, Arkansas over Florida St.).
Virginia had by far the best showing for a red team, winning their regional at Irvine and eliminating Fullerton at the College World Series.
The other two red teams to make the CWS, North Carolina and Southern Miss, had a total of one Green opponent in either their regional or the opposing regional in their super regional bracket. The 1 out of 14 was 3-seed Kansas in North Carolina’s regional.
Green was 5-1 against Red at the College World Series.
Overall on the year, Green went 707-468 against Red for a .602 winning percentage.
There were 202 red teams and 100 green teams in my ratings this year. This is part of why the RPI in college baseball is so bad.

maybe because red has more teams the talent is more thinly spread between them?

It’s a consideration that should be taken into account, but the raw totals of drafted players based on state of residence indicates that not only are there fewer teams to spread the players out in the west, there are just more good players, as well.

While this baseball analysis is nice and all, let’s get down to the real issue at hand:

Wow, I didn’t realize there were 301 teams playing D-1 baseball!
Imagine how big the disparity would be if MLB wasn’t able to draft HS players!
