More Vince Drama

Posted by on June 2nd, 2009 under Football

Sigh.

First this, then this.

I’m still pulling or Vince to figure it out and have success. I think the guy can play. The surprising thing to me is that a guy who seemed so mentally tough in college is actually so much more fragile than it would have seemed. Definitely a function of scheme and talent differential. Doperbo has assured me that once he returns from hunting Dharma Bums, he’ll opine.

I dont think it is him being fragile. Look, he turned around a moribound franchise as a rookie with no recievers. They continued to draft running backs and blamed him for the lack of a passing attack. Now Kerry collins is simply benefiting from a better team than what Vince had as a rookie.

  2. ESPN showed the stats of Collins vs VY since VY was drafted in 2006 and their passing stats and W/L were basically the same. They left out the rushing stats conveniently. I don’t understand why the Titans don’t just give him the job back unless there is something else we don’t know about.

They need to give him the keys again to the offense and let him go to work. He still needs more talent at receiver though, but the running game is already there. The dumb interceptions are going to happen, but he will still create more good things than bad things.

Anyone can crack. Vince can definately play!

  5. In April Vince said he was going to “Shut up and work”

He really should have listened to himself.

  6. I hope he ends with another team. A team that runs a spread offense that fits his obscene talents.

  7. Dharma Burns…interesting story. In regards to Vince…interesting story.

  8. Maybe he’s following the Quincy Carter career plan. I sure hope not, but maybe he likes to party and we aren’t hearing about it.

  9. Your morning adrenaline fix.

    You’re welcome.

  10. Hey Jeff! Take a page from the Mack Brown play book.

Let Vince be Vince….Living in the Limelight

Titans have the best athlete in the NFL with Vince Young….let him lead you to the Super Bowl.

**VINCE + RUNNING GAME + DEFENSE = Championship

    re: 2005

  11. Fisher on Young

I guess Vince isn’t as in the doghouse as dumb shits on the internet want to make out.

Sorry, but when you give a guy chicken shit to work with you can’t really bitch much when he makes you chicken shit salad.

Vince goes from Drew Bennett, Bobby Wade, and a legit RB in Travis Henry to Justin Gage, Roydell Williams (who?), and LenWhale White in 2007. Oh yeah, he also had to work under Norm “Dog” Chow who couldn’t find another job in the NFL despite interviewing for about half the NFL.

That freak out session at the start of last season was all on him, but past that he’s been dealt a shit hand by the Titans. He kept his mouth shut all last season instead of causing a stir, and now he finally decides to man up and tell folks he isn’t going to take any shit and he gets blasted for that to.

Any other QB would have blown his stack long ago. Ol’ baby Jay Cutler would have been whining and crying for a trade AGES ago if he had been forced to work with the shit Vince was given.

Seriously, good for Vince. Push old man Collins out of the starters position, play your ass off, and then go get a big contract somewhere other than the shit hole that is Tennessee.

  12. I’m in Will’s corner here.

  13. Ditto that, wulf. Will has said it all.

  14. I’d agree that the response to Cutler’s meltdown was VERY different.

I remember the 2008 draft, when they chose yet another running back with their first pick. I was in the gym, on the cross trainer, and I threw my magazine against the wall and yelled out “Fuck!” about as loud as I could. It drew a few stares, and a stern scolding from the wife, but it was worth it. Chris Johnson is good, and will maybe get better, but not the WR I was hoping the Titans would get.

They definitely have not drafted to help out Vince, which is not surprising considering Fisher never wanted Vince in the first place.

    Hook ‘em!

  17. just because the media handled the cutler sitaution differently doesnt mean vince hasnt acted like a baby

  18. It’s good to know that if his career in the NFL pans out, his place in the announcing booth is all but assured.

  22. Even more Titans’ QB drama.

It is just amazing to me that most posters think that Jordan has improved so much in the last half of the season.
The one thing I will say is that Jordan has just started to show his ability with a basketball. The reason that he did not show his talents is up to all the

Both teams are unselfish and preach sharing the ball. A&M is a balanced scoring team. Sloan showed in the first round against Utah State, for example, that he can defer when his teammates have things going. Purdue once again will have to rely on JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore to produce, and hope

Normally, after a big win or a crushing defeat, I don’t know what to think, say, or feel, because I can’t. And that what makes this one different; it’s just as painful, but I saw it coming. Instead of getting blindsided by the oncoming traffic, I was able to brace myself for the

I’m with you the off season is already old. I’m ready for the season to start. NDS I am completely fascinated by the Tech vs. Lech business. I can’t believe they ran off the guy that put them on the map and subsequently ended up with an arguable upgrade in Tubs.

Ded 9-12 wins is pretty optomistic. I like it. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Tubs can do with them this year especially on D. I’m surprised you think the QB battle between Sticks and Nick will be close. Interesting, I figured Sticks was a runaway. I hope Corndog

Got a little time this morning and I’m rearing to talk some football.  Here’s what the depth chart looks like headed into spring and a few thoughts:

    Offense

QB  Sr. Taylor Potts/Sr. Steven Sheffield – We’ve all annointed Sheffield as the starter, and I think that’s the case if we continue to run 99% of our snaps

lawdog – on the topic of regression, this crew can’t compare with the senior seasons Thomas and Atchley put up. Something ain’t right in this scenario. Mason topped out his sophomore year and Pittman last year.

Wangmene is ‘Manos de Piedra’ redux, so that was really never going to work out.

Today reminded me why I love this tournament so much. A good friend of mine mentioned to me that college basketball is the great equalizer of all athletic endeavors. At least of the sports we care about. He’s right.

Unless you’re completely retarded, you know precisely what I meant. The closest any Big 12 team has gotten to winning the infamous Fuller Cup is the 2007 Texas squad. I can’t remember a team being that horribly undisciplined as a whole aside from the insane OU teams of the 80’s. That’s not

I suppose anyone could be your “favorite Longhorn basketball player” but Ford did more than just about anyone…although Durant is clearly better. Ford’s supporting cast was better than Durant’s in his sophomore year. Durant’s had more talent (Augustin, James, Abrams) but Ford’s was more developed (Boddicker, Ivey, Mouton, Thomas) and had worked with him for

This notion of Hamilton as being a disaster area on defense is all a bit much. He rebounds extremely well which, if it wasn’t obvious, is extremely important in this game since it secures possession of the basketball. Winning in basketball is achieved through the scoring of baskets and it’s necessary to possess the basketball

I posted earlier about how Collins’ effort just crippled Kansas today, but what amazed me the most was his complete inability to stay in front of his man on defense. UNI got a LOT of good looks out of penetration/pass after one of UNI’s modestly gifted athletes blew right by Sherron. The best

As disappointed as I was in last year’s opening weekend of March Madness, this one is exceeding all expectations. Putting aside the fact that my bracket now resembles Kabul after the Taliban rolled through in ‘96 – a map of ordered failure –
