Texas beat A&M 5-4 yesterday to win the regular season championship.
After going 0-2-1 against Kansas State, Texas rallied to take 5 out of 6 from Baylor and Texas A&M.
This should give Texas a top eight national seed and guarantee that they will host a super regional.

So, I went to the 2nd open practice Tuesday night and collected a few thoughts on the team to this point. Mostly I just watched the offensive line to determine blocking schemes/plays that were being used in the shotgun, 11 personnel, and I-formation plays. There were quite a few if half of them stick the

The draft projections I’ve seen have him late lottery, mid first round.
I think he is capable of playing better defense but he isn’t bad. He does what we ask him to do. Play good enough defense that you don’t embarrass your team and then have enough energy to run around 6 screens for

A few additional thoughts.
The YouTube video is really good.
Also, when you have embraced the Romer paper, you enter the game ready to go for it. Packages are prepared in advance, hence the higher % of times he goes for it and the higher % of times he succeeds vs. the league.

I’m not personally sold on the preseason hype NU is getting. However, I will say the 2010 schedule is certainly the “easiest” they have had in some time.
People keep talking about Washington as if they are tough out, I don’t see it. They won’t even win 8 games next year.

The conference was held on March 6th, headlined by luminaries like Rockets GM (and ‘00 Sloan School grad) Daryl Morey, author Michael Lewis, Colts GM Bill Polian, Mavs owner Mark Cuban, and ESPN Bah-stahhnophile Bill Simmons.
It attracted over 1,000 fans, job seekers, knowledge enthusiasts, sexless dorks, and rationals.

Ratings Update
Thought I’d piggyback on your post as you are my ratings’ biggest supporter on the entire intraweb. Some interesting aspects are that our offense has gotten better as our defense has started to lag. We are now #6 in the ratings in preventing opponents’ runs. Meanwhile, the Aggies have moved up to #3 in that department, but their offense is more meager than ours.
Also, a quick rundown of Big 12 and State of Texas teams:
EWP (Old Rating/Power/Offense/Defense):
3 Texas (3/5/78/6)
6 Oklahoma (10/4/20/13)
8 TCU (6/12/8/36)
9 Rice (8/16/60/11)
10 Kansas St. (12/15/17/32)
12 Texas A&M (14/10/109/3)
25 Texas St. (24/30/61/25)
26 Oklahoma St. (27/18/96/8)
27 Baylor (31/26/64/19)
30 Kansas (25/43/85/24)
37 Missouri (33/34/86/16)
45 Dallas Baptist (47/50/51/53)
66 UTSA (70/67/46/96)
73 Sam Houston St. (79/78/29/135)
75 UTA (87/63/135/23)
78 Texas Tech (81/79/81/77)
91 Houston (101/105/139/69)
92 Nebraska (96/96/40/159)
136 SFA (134/130/160/109)
206 TAMU-CC (209/211/230/188)
271 Houston Baptist (270/271/279/252)
276 Prairie View A&M (280/283/294/243)
278 Texas Southern (282/272/249/281)

According to Boyds World, our current RPI is at 3 and we are guaranteed to finish in the top 8 even if we drop both games of the doubleheader against Alabama A&M on Saturday.
And it seems likely that with Rice and LSU likely hosting regionals that A&M may end up as the #1 seed at an away regional. Tough luck for the agros.

It takes a complete and total lack of critical thinking ability to see a rankings set of 3, 3, 5, 78, 6 for a team and not want to analyze ways of improving the 78.

Friday night’s game at A&M with at least one on and nobody out:
Top of the 1st – Tucker HBP. Belt sac bunts. 0 runs
Top of the 2nd – Rupp doubles. Keyes flies out (no bunt). 1 run
Top of the 7th – Keyes singles. Clark walks (no bunt). Loy singles (no bunt). Shepherd doubles, 3 RBI. Rowe HBP (no bunt). Tucker SAC bunt. Two straight singles mean the next two runs would have scored without the bunt except the inning might still have been alive without the gift of the out. 5 runs
Top of the 8th – Moldenhauer walks. Loy SAC bunt. 0 runs
Top of the 10th – Rupp singles. Maitland HBP (no bunt). Moldenhauer singles (no bunt). Wild pitch scores a run. Lusson SAC bunt (reaches on error). Double play scores a run. 3 runs
Yep, bunting is why we won.
