Controversy!

Posted by HenryJames on May 9th, 2009 under Baseball

The Texas baseball team beat A&M last night in 10 innings 11-9. The Aggies tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, and the potential winning run was thrown out at home on a controversial call.

An Aggie fan has placed video of the call on Youtube. It’s full of win.

First, t.u. Outstanding.

Second, the dogshit song in the background. Do you really need music for this play? Do you really need that music for anything?

Third, the Aggie player who blocks the umpire’s view of home plate. It’s almost like he knew what he was doing. Ah, but no good deed goes unpunished.

That’s makes thirteen wins in a row against the Aggie for those of you who are keeping score.

Leave the song alone. It was only a matter of time before the gomers discovered teen angst. You just don’t understand.

Rupp said he blocked the runner’s left arm and then made the tag. Looks like it to me from that video.

(off-topic)Jarvis Humphrey is done with football due to kidney ailment. No article up yet here, but the Statesman is on it.

This absolutely sucks. Don’t get me wrong, I like seeing bad things happen to UT. It’s just the nature of the rivalry. But this is totally different. You absolutely hate to see this happen to a player who was a decent kid by all accounts. I’d rather UT have him at 100% wrecking everyone’s OL than have this happen. My thoughts and prayers are truly with him and his family.

Good point about the other player blocking the ump. The ump was really out of position by the time the runner got to the plate. No way he could see whether the runner’s hand reached the plate. As they say, that’s baseball. Nice play by Rupp anyway.

For the 7-10 persons in the greater Austin area who actually give a shit about the Rangers, or have a tatoo fetish, Josh Hamilton will be making a rehab assignment (strained rib, not crack) with AAA OKC in Round Rock tonight and tomorrow.
    Take Mom, she’ll love it..

  6. Our batters were completely dominated today.

    Series win at stake tomorrow.

  7. Who is pitching?

A little plate discipline would go a long way tomorrow (well, today actually).

  13. Narrow escape but we got the win.

  14. congrats to the team on the Big 12 Championship.

Yeah, the Aggie player blocking the ump must be a complete imbecile. I thought I saw another Aggie on the right side of the plate anyways. How many Aggies does it take to signal a player to slide?

Music is the soundtrack of human life. I can’t even imagine a world without the song “One Less Bell To Answer” by “The Fifth Dimension”. Maybe even “Midnight Love Affair” by “Carol Douglas”-takes me back to the 9th grade. Music and sports were MEANT for each other. I saw the video on U-Tube-its great-with or w/o the music.

Last week I asked Sailor Ripley and friends to come over and share some of their knowledge in our corner of the internet. As you can tell, I didn’t have the money to ship the 6 cases of Old English 800 to Fan Take world headquarters that they demanded so we’re stuck with links.

All the rest of the stuff will take care of itself with wins. I’m watching the Big12 championship right now and no one’s saying Frank Martin

I could not agree more about the subject. You have to make the pass go somewhere else than the offense wants. If you can’t stop that, you have to change the angle of the pass. Anything to throw them off.

I said after Laettner’s shot and pretty much ever since, that guarding the inbounder should be

The reasons given by this coaching staff to have hope for the future continue to be unimpressive.

It’s the time of year when we see a lot of “state of the program” articles. The off season is a natural time to reflect; it’s also a time when there’s nothing really going on so we turn to big picture fluffery to fake like we’re busy.
