John Wall was cited for breaking and entering on April 27th. Even though the story itself is worth little more than a raise of the eyebrow, the funny part is that the actual article couldn’t be more cliched if it were taken right out of the script from He Got Game and you switched Wall’s name to Jesus Shuttlesworth.

Will the governor get involved?
In other news, Renardo Sidney and specifically his price tag, are too risky for U$C. In case you lived under a rock and didn’t know basketball recruiting is sleazier than Oklahoma cock fighting, the following paragraph from FanNation / The LA Times says it all.
Though they are from rival schools who often wage intense battles for the same athletes, the sources agreed on this about Sidney: The reward of suiting up such a prodigious talent was not worth the larger risk. Bruins and Trojans sources both say they were wary of potentially intense NCAA scrutiny prompted by these issues: Despite what was perceived as a limited income, the family moved multiple times and resided in upscale homes during Sidney’s high school years; and stepfather Renardo Sr. directed a club basketball team with financial backing that was unclear beyond a relatively modest shoe company sponsorship. Plus there was this: A source intimately familiar with Sidney’s recruitment said a university official thought the stepfather had strongly hinted that he expected to be compensated if his son signed with the school.

Why the sudden conscience?
Perhaps it’s a sign of just how much baggage Sidney has attached to his 6-10 frame. Or it could be a sign of how much heat the Trojans are feeling from NCAA gum shoes snooping around the basketball and football programs. Or a combo of both. If you’re too dirty for the guy that recruited Tim Hardaway to El Paso, you’re pretty dirty. Dirtier than a televised handjob in the Franklin mountains.
Everyone seems to be digging for gold nowadays and it’s not just the UTEP Miners.

I have to think the USC Administration stepped in on this one. The timing of the announcement that the Bush and Mayo investigations were being combined and Floyd dropping Sidney are too convenient. I don’t think any player is too dirty for Floyd.

It’s too bad Avery Bradley wasn’t there to stop him.

Big 12 basketball officials reviewed that video and determined that their interpretation still stands – even handjobs don’t qualify as hand checking. The defender must produce an internal organ to get called for hand checking.

If you don’t force entry, aren’t you just ‘entering’, which no breaking added to it?
I’m not sure where the crime is in walking into an empty house.
As for Sidney, I guess Worldwide Wes doesn’t have his hands on this guy?

Sidney doesn’t need Wes, he’s got his step dad that used to work for Reebok.

The “breaking” part of breaking and entering is basically anything. Opening the door/window is enough in most states.

Maybe OU can recruit Wall now that he has been arrested. Word on the street in OKC is that Stoops will give their screwdriver-wielding football recruit his scholarship now that the charges have been reduced to mere misdeamnors. The local paper has an article discussing how OU officials have been in negotiations with him and his attorney.

Renardo is heading to Starkville.
