There’s a very good reason for your confusion, George: both my prior posts suck.
Essentially, they’re two brain farts in the same thread, with both being the unfortunate consequence of me trying to get dressed and out of the house in a hurry while simultaneously jumping from one horn-related website to another getting the latest info on where my Longhorns went in the draft.

So, let me amend, hopefully correctly and for the last time:
Scipio expressed surprise that Oklahoma has fewer current players in the NFL than Nebraska, both of which trail the Horns. I was even more surprised that prior to this weekend, OU had fewer current players in the NFL than three other Big XII teams (putting them tied for fourth before the most recent draft). They’ve now moved past A&M by one player to take sole possession of third place. It did, and still does, surprise me that A&M until very recently had more players in the pros than OU.

Orakpo has all of the attributes to be VERY effective at the next level – I just hope he get’s the coaching to develop his second move should the run come his way. John Palermo will be his position coach – the same guy who touted Erasmus James of Wisconsin as the next Julius Peppers. Anyway, if Orakpo is fortunate to be on the same side as Haynesworth, that will be the biggest factor in his transition – a space eater in the gap will usually draw guard help.

Pettigrew is easily the best blocking TE I’ve seen in the last decade at the college level. The only blocker I’ve seen comparable at TE was Jason Peters from Arkansas – who is now an All-Pro NFL OT.

Pettigrew definitely gave Orakpo some problems – as much because of his quickness as his strength. Orakpo finished the game with 6 tackles, 2 TFL and a sack but that’s a deceptive box score.

Interestingly, Brian never really struggled with the goliath OTs.

Orakpo will need to develop a better way to disengage from contact if he wants to make an impact at the next level – or else he will be relegated to 3rd and long situations where he can pin his ears back. When I saw the video of Brandon Pettigrew collapsing (mauling) Orakpo, I instantly thought of the O-coordinators and O-line coaches in the NFL scheming to run his way. That written, I would NOT want my QB to take a 5 step drop with this guy across from him.

Can we please lose the ‘Omaha Bound’ header here? The whole subject make me ill right now, and talking about Omaha on the heels of an 0-3-1 homestand is hubris at best. Just a personal thought anyway.

First of all there’s a question mark! Secondly, it’s not hubris, it’s sloth. Get your criticisms straight!

Anyway, I just fired the team of interns in charge of the Featured Story merchandising.
