UTEP going down in flames. If Texas loses tonight, then someone will need to make sure Trips isn’t face down in a ditch somewhere….

Many thanks to Larry Burton over at Bleacher Report for providing advice on how to turn your sports-hating significant other into a college football nut.
Now, full disclosure – I’m philosophically opposed to such a thing (further disclosure & incredible shocker: I’m divorced). I do not want to bring a wife/girlfriend who doesn’t want to be

Pete is right about Marlon’s running style, Lucky needed to have the ball in space to be effective at all. I think he had a nice career overall though, keep in mind he did have those injury issues his senior year.
Good player who should have looked out for himself and left early.

Now Baylor talking trash to the #14 seed players. Seriously?

If Sam Houston State wins then Rick Barnes will have trick-fucked me in a completely unexpected way. I figured if Baylor beat us like a drum three time then should be able to ease past Sam Houston State. I did not know about the Rec Specs.

If Baylor fails, my grand scheme of Purdue playing for it all will immediately begin to take shape.

Freaking BYU.
Otherwise, I’m 2-1.

CloseToJumping commented on the blog post Beat the Barkers NCAA Tourney Bracket 3 hours, 19 minutes ago
Yeah, that Purdue pick was awesome. It seems like I heard something about them having injuries, but it slipped my mind when making picks. I’ve literally not seen them play for one second this season. Not a highlight, nothing. Good work.
1-2 to start things off, I think it’s clear I’m going to own this thing.

Man, Sam Houston State is playing Baylor perfectly. Rec Specs is running the paint. And I always love teams with short guys who jack threes.

ND proved that the old tried and true, anti-Duke theory about how teams that rely on unathletic white dudes who have to get to the foul line and/or make a alot of really ugly right-handed layups never win in the tourney.

Great start to the tourney. Two OT games and a one point ND loss.
Yeah – a bunch of half ass bowl games is a much better idea.

Anywhere to see what players are participating?
Seems like Ramonce Taylor would have been a good fit and at the very least he and Irvin would have enjoyed each other’s company.
Also, it would be epic if they put these guys up in The White House.

I’ve watched an episode of Pros vs Joes. The football challenge involved the poor bastards running a slant route in front of Jesse Armstead.
After getting laid out on/gator arming three attempts, they ran over and got their shots blocked by a disinterested Derrick Coleman.
Then they got on the rink with some Canadian dude (I assume) who checked them into oblivion.

Pros vs Joes is greatness. They made one group of Joes do Oklahoma drills with Herschel Walker.
In another, they made them grapple Randy Couture and box Roy Jones. Lord, that was brutal.

As mother to one of the contestants on 4th and Long, I am anxiously awaiting the series!
It airs Monday May 18 at 10 pm EST on SPIKE.
I know my son, (wide receiver Preston McGann) went in to this competition as just that, a competition, not a reality t.v. show. I think after talking to him, that all of the men at the Cotton Bowl who participated went in with the same hope, desire and goals in mind…to earn the spot they’ve aspired to since they were youngsters…
So, while yes it is another reality tv show and yes there will be a winner and 11 sent home with nothing….it took more than just an application and an interview for these talented men to earn their spot on this series. They had to have talent first and foremost, desire and dedication – which is NOT something you find in most of the reality shows these days.
AT this time, they’ve already chosent the winner of the spot on the Cowboys Training Camp. But to those men who didn’t make it, what an experience….and good luck to each and every one of you! Pursue your dreams… that’s what your moms would tell you! I know Preston will be pursuing his!
Football Mom! (I still think he’s five years old playing in Pooler Georgia for the Packers!)

I saw this show last night and it was awesome! I am looking forward to watching more. I remeber one of these guys when he was growing up in Pooler, GA and even watch him play baseball. What an amazing young man he has become!
Carrie, if you read this please call me.

Jo Anna….. wow! It’s been years.
I thought the show was pretty good. The men definatley had some tough stuff to go through, but then they should have expected no less! Preston stayed focused on why he was there, to play football, not to appear on a t.v. show…
