Longhorn Recruiting Propaganda Site

Posted by Scipio Tex on January 26th, 2009 under Football, Recruiting

Check out Longhornstorm.com

I just spent 30 minutes bouncing around on there and it’s an outstanding recruiting tool and a fun fan experience. Locate the play button in the lower left hand corner to help speed you along in each segment.

Another example of Texas staying ahead of the game.

Gonna need this stuff once we get the plastic grass.

  2. Interesting Scip. ACS Athletics is a web-based software company here in Austin. I believe they started out as a company offering software to consolidate a lot of the paperwork for an Athletic Department.

They have expanded to offer copywrited software that covers just about everything, especially compliance and recruiting. Supposedly coaches can go paperless
with online forms for compliance. Recruiters out in the field can access secure information about recruits eligibility on site. The software handles almost all the paperwork in the process making it easier for institutional control

This site seems to be another offshoot of the company. They have an awful lot of the big time programs on their client list, but I doubt they are performing this service for all of them — yet.

  3. Not a bad site, indeed.

    Hook ‘em!

  4. Is it sponsored by UT or not? Mack-Brown-Texasfootball.com is an amazing site. Its more up to date than some NFL teams sites. Personally, it has too much flash.

  5. Gotta enjoy the Greg Davis video interview, set to the music of Eminem.

And I beheld [Big] Satan fall as lightning from heaven.

  7. Is it sponsored by UT or not?

Yes. UT is a client of ACS and they co-developed the site. As are A&M, OU, Colorado and at least 50 other programs.

Some random thoughts after scrolling through the player cards…

Is DJ Monroe’s picture a subtle jab for his wavering commitment to academics?

Worst haircut awards go to Sam Walker (aka DJ Monroe) and Nolan Brewster.

Earl Thomas has to be related to Wanda Sykes.

Fozzy needs to be our starting RB next year. I divined from his Tyson-esque glare that he means business. And we should give it to him.

Is Michael Huey’s picture from the 8th grade?

I thought Britt Mitchell was going to be a player coming out of Kilgore. He looks 35.

    DJ Grant IS Cleve Bryant.

We need Kheeston Randall to be very good very fast, Eddie Jones to stay healthy (not likely), and/or Russell Carter to break out.

Is Dravantti Johnson the next Nic Redwine?

Keenan Robinson and Emmanuel Acho earned more PT this season. Let’s hope they get it.

Recruits love these types of web sites and so should you.

  8. Good call on Grant = Bryant, that almost doesn’t look real. Luke Poehlmann’s hair is a dissapointment after the Fiesta Bowl coiffe.

This kind of crap brings tears to my eyes! I swear I can’t hardly even eat. A&M is where the best go, you Longhorns stink!

  10. Orakpo thinks Carter will have a breakout year. When I saw Carter at practice, IMO…he is physically a clone of Orakpo. Hopefully he’ll turn out to be the same type of monster and soften the Kennard loss.

Speaking of pictures…was the mullet alive and well?

  11. Sadly, the mullet is rocking a buzz cut in his photo. His gorgeous head of hair was not realized fully until late this year.

The 2008 highlight video has room for Nickelback, but not me?

Just so everyone knows, those are old pictures.

  14. Why the completely homosexual song at the end of the 2008 highlight video? Do we really think 17 year old urban (African American) kids will relate to some shit they downloaded off the Christian music channel?

    I really like Cal today.

ATM and Cornell look too good to be true and the public is all over both of them.

I gotta believe that Izzo beats Maryland today, I haven’t been impressed with the Terps this year. I am surprised that they are favored.

    gotta,

I think your overall point is a good one. Barnes is a “system” guy especially defensively, which plays into how he overall plays the game. He wants to play a high pressure, overplay man2man scheme predicated on effort, good technique and overall quickness. Similar to Duke, but even Coach K (in fairness

What a glorious, glorious day of basketball at the Ford Center Saturday.

First, Ali Ali Farokhmanesh and all the other Panthers with cool names took down Kansas as Sherron Collins made his best effort to shed that “clutch” label on the last game of his collegiate career. Then of course, Kansas State waved goodbye to Jimmer

Both teams are unselfish and preach sharing the ball. A&M is a balanced scoring team. Sloan showed in the first round against Utah State, for example, that he can defer when his teammates have things going. Purdue once again will have to rely on JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore to produce, and hope

Normally, after a big win or a crushing defeat, I don’t know what to think, say, or feel, because I can’t. And that what makes this one different; it’s just as painful, but I saw it coming. Instead of getting blindsided by the oncoming traffic, I was able to brace myself for the

I’m with you the off season is already old. I’m ready for the season to start. NDS I am completely fascinated by the Tech vs. Lech business. I can’t believe they ran off the guy that put them on the map and subsequently ended up with an arguable upgrade in Tubs.

Ded 9-12 wins is pretty optomistic. I like it. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Tubs can do with them this year especially on D. I’m surprised you think the QB battle between Sticks and Nick will be close. Interesting, I figured Sticks was a runaway. I hope Corndog

Got a little time this morning and I’m rearing to talk some football.  Here’s what the depth chart looks like headed into spring and a few thoughts:

    Offense

QB  Sr. Taylor Potts/Sr. Steven Sheffield – We’ve all annointed Sheffield as the starter, and I think that’s the case if we continue to run 99% of our snaps

lawdog – on the topic of regression, this crew can’t compare with the senior seasons Thomas and Atchley put up. Something ain’t right in this scenario. Mason topped out his sophomore year and Pittman last year.

Wangmene is ‘Manos de Piedra’ redux, so that was really never going to work out.

Unless you’re completely retarded, you know precisely what I meant. The closest any Big 12 team has gotten to winning the infamous Fuller Cup is the 2007 Texas squad. I can’t remember a team being that horribly undisciplined as a whole aside from the insane OU teams of the 80’s. That’s not
