Nate, I think your argument is pretty solid for the SEC, Big 12 and Pac 10 but not so much on the Big 10. If you look at the 2009 Sagarin strength of sked: ND-37, Ohio St-50, Iowa-41, Penn St-73. Not so sure joining the Big 10 really helps ND’s chances. With

Kiffin’s father is a great coach, but the rest of that staff isn’t. Orgeron and Kiffin are both good, dirty recruiters and mediocre to poor gameday coaches.
How important is that in college football? How good of a gameday coach is Mack Brown? Greg Davis?
Orgeron is actually a damn fine defensive line coach,

I get what you’re saying, but honestly, it’s a cop out. Period. If the AD was to actually commit some resources into building a program, we would be competitive and probably would even give K-State a run for its money. We may never be a KU, but we sure as hell wouldn’t

Totally agree re: RJ. I’m hesitant to shout it from the mountain tops until he does it against a contending team. So far his success has been against 2nd tier teams.
Ginobili is just incredible to watch right now. Just goes to show how hurt he really must have been last season.

I was there as well you common guttersnipe.
Kande – Don’t think he did anything the entire game. He looked more physical than he played.
Nwachukwu – Looked great in pads and on the punt return for a td, but why did he only catch 2 passes for 7 yards? Allen’s go to guy was some dude named Dakarai Pecikonis.
Terrell – Never noticed him, but like you said he’s a corner playing against Euless Trinity. When Trinity did throw the ball, it was usually in the middle of the field.
Tuipulotu – Can’t remember the last time Trinity lost the battle at the line of scrimmage, but they lost both sides yesterday. Allen’s offensive line is big and athletic with the exception of their center.
Robinson – I think he’s a fullback/linebacker prospect for Nebraska. He’s got good size, but he’s not quick enough to play tailback.
Norman – Not sure where he projects in college. He’s too small to play line, but he’s not overly quick. Inside linebacker maybe.
Williams – He’s a high school running back in a spread offense.
Carter – Too bad he’s a backup for the injured Matt Brown, but he’s not anything special.
Williams – Considering his age, I thought he was the best player on the field. Good speed and runs hard. Really keep his legs moving. You can see why Robinson lost his starting job.
Trinity QB Denarius McGhee – This guy can really throw the ball. He made some difficult throws: corner routes, outs and some soft throws against the zone. I was impressed. And he was a pass first guy. He’s not even in the database so I don’t know what his story is.
Allen’s offensive line:
SO G Brad McNulty 6′1″ 275
JR T Cedric Ogbuchi 6′4″ 250
JR T Luke Burleson 6′5″ 270
JR G Taylor Pearson 6′4″ 265
These guys were the difference in the game. Probably should have gone down on the field to get a closer look at them, but they all looked big and lean.
Finally, Texas Stadium is a shithole, and the spread is destroying Texas high school football.

“#37 Uzoma Nwachukwu (Allen), WR, 6′0, 185 lbs, 4* – Texas A&M commit. I thought this guy looked legit and was the best athlete on the field. Showed good speed on a 57 yard punt return for a TD. I felt he was underutilized by Allen finishing with only 2 catches for 7 yards, so he’ll fit right in on the Aggie offense. Nice prospect. Tuberville will convert him to an all conference CB in 2010.”
Did I totally black out recently? How will Tuberville help anyone on the Aggie D?
dedfischer said:

I kept trying to picture Ogbuchi or Pearson as D-I tackles, but every time I did they got blown up by a 205-lb linebacker playing defensive end. Pretty good run blockers across the board, and they certainly had no trouble with Tuipulotu.
HenryJames said:

Ha. I remember looking at the roster after Ogbuchi got knocked back five yards with the defensive ends initial punch. The end was listed around 205.

“Did I totally black out recently? How will Tuberville help anyone on the Aggie D?”
Probably based on a mythic chain of events where Auburn inexplicably fires Tubberville and the Aggies decide Sherman’s 1000 yard stare and engineer’s personality is not going to help them recruit or win football games. The Aggies then create a bidding war with themselves for Tubberville’s services after the 2009 season and hire him for 3.2 million per season.
I know it sounds far fetched.
UTtuck said:
December 7th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Thanks General, but I doubt that the Ags would take someone as bad as Tubberville. If Sherman doesn’t take them to the Superbowl next year, they’ll go out and get Bellicheck. They aren’t taking some college coach reject from the SEC. Please.
