A quick recap of yesterday’s action before we get to today’s tilts.
Midwest – Kansas and Northern Iowa take care of business at the top. Tennessee squeaks by San Diego St, and the shocker of the day, Georgetown falls to Ohio. Just a complete no-show by the Hoyas, which we all knew they were capable

I knew what you meant with the homer comment.
I agree that it mostly comes down to Denmon and English shooting well again. They don’t have set career highs, but they do have to at least hit their season averages for Mizzou to have a chance.

Barnes’ three “strengths”:
Defense, rebounding, recruiting.
This team just proved the first two are non-existent (out-rebounded by 25; fucking KIDDING me?) and the last one is over-hyped as well. Every ESPN basketball recruiting analyst who actually had Bradley ahead of Wall should be taken out back and executed Inglourious Basterds style.

I hear ya. I’m frustrated as well. I guess I just don’t prescribe to such a black and white characterization of the situation. I do know that no matter what happened in the huddle, JCB made a dumb play. If Rick didn’t explain or remind him of the situation, then I

mcpayne, yes, you don’t leave that shit to chance. You don’t let your guys break the huddle or dead ball not knowing precisely what’s expected from them. Barnes doesn’t get 2 mil for coaching PE where he’s hoping the right guy gets fouled.
-
uthookem commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread 10 hours, 39 minutes ago
mpayne, I’d agree with you if J’Covan had been playing all season and had been in situations to make that decision. Like, you know, against Baylor, when he played all of 3 fucking minutes thanks to rick.
So yes, it is rick’s fault.

Trips Right commented on the blog post Texas Hoops vs. Wake Forest Open thread 10 hours, 40 minutes ago
With 15 seconds left, out of a dead ball, most coaches would make it perfectly clear who they wanted to be fouled.

Stupid decisions by Brown are one of the reasons he sat on the bench for most of the season…lack of coaching maybe, or just a lack of basketball IQ?
Oh well, if Brown doesn’t go off in the 2nd half, we aren’t even playing in OT. Too bad he didn’t get much of a chance

I don’t agree with the people who keep referring to Bob Stoops as a bullet-headed churl. He is a visionary. By combining the nation’s best offense with a very mediocre defense (6th in the Big 12 by yardage), he has adopted the same championship model as Marv Levy and Mike Martz.
DBH said:

Whatever model Stoops employs, he owns Mack Brown. Mack has beaten him four times and has one conference title. Stoops has beaten Brown six times and will soon have seven titles.
Moral of the story: Nice guys finish second.

Nice to hear Mack on the OU?OSU broadcast lobby for votes. Stoops was requested be on the TX/aTm broadcast but declined, saying that it would be a lack of class for him to appear. Who’s nicest now?

You’re right. Stoops (a lot of people call him a bullet-headed churl, but I think that’s too harsh) is a very nice guy (I hear he helps his wife sell Mary Kay). Maybe that’s why his defense gives up 31 points per Big 12 game. I think he’s kind of soft.

Stoops would have looked like an idiot had he called in to the Texas game and campaigned when he still had a game on Saturday night, BoomerFrakkinLoser. He did plenty of campaigning Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday the week before, and I’m sure had the schedules been reversed, he would have called in to the Texas game on Saturday night. How you guys can continue to give him a pass on being this classy guy I’ll never know. Nice how he touted the four 60 point performances to close out the season and hanging 20 on OSU when he had his starters in with 27 seconds to play and doesn’t take a knee. Total hypocritical douchebag and he’ll get his either in this life or next.

Stoops had an argument anyways so it would have been very stupid to call in. “They kicked the fucking shit out of us, but vote for us anyways”. Apparently a lot of the voters already had that in their mind so they didn’t need to be told.

Boomer, luckily for us, Clemson kept their IHC (something called a Dabo Swinney), so we thus far are looking forward to seeing yet another mediocre coaching job put forth by Mr. Venables. But don’t worry, we’ll counter, check, and mate with our savant, the one, the only, the Greg Davis.

He declined because he had nothing left to say after whoring himself out to the media to whine about the BCS during the three previous days. I’m sure he would have declined too if the roles were reversed and his game was on Thursday while the Texas game was on Saturday. I see the inbreeding fosters single digit IQs north of the Red.

I’m rooting for OU to win it all and Sam Bradford to for Heisman as I am highly anticipating the Landry Jones era. That’s if my West Texas sources are correct. He’s New Mexico’s version of Paul Thompson. I think if Stoops chokes again, Bradford will come back. Also, my sources indicate that Mason Walters may push for playing time as a true freshman, while Porter more than likely will be career depth. Not sure how much of this is true, but my dad picked it up from a Pony Express rider delivering him a telegram out of Carlsbad.

Stoops declined because he didn’t want people talking about the arguments for and against Texas being above UT. That invariably results in the discussion of the head to head victory on a neutral field, and thats not what he wants to talk about.
And since when did arguing that your team beat both teams slated to be in the big 12 championship turn into some sort of unclassy act? Its nonsense, especially coming from trailer trash fans of a “university” that is yet again on major probation for cheating.
